10.01.2022 On this day last year we were in this beautiful room at @the_gdsc How much has changed since then. Although COVID-19 and the recent fires prevented us from planning a fantastic event for the community, we are so excited for when we are able to plan an event again that will be even better then before! #togetherwecan #makeadifference #smashthestigma #myclarencevalley #mentalhealthawareness ... @ Grafton, New South Wales, Australia See more

05.01.2022 Thank you @dailytelegraph for the write up In my opinion, one of the biggest things that needed attention is the stigma surrounding mental health. Suicide is final, we want to work to prevent that by starting as soon as we can and starting these healthy conversations and eleviating the stigma associated with holding conversations about mental health. Connection in a community that’s been rocked as much as Grafton is deeply undervalued! ... We have shifted from responding to suicide to proactively as a community working on prevention and the increase of overall well-being. With great partnerships with our event like headspace, the local men’s shed and Batyr, we are working to assist and expand on the already amazing work taking place in this space. Through promotion of breaking the stigma, promoting honest and open dialogue to demanding more of our local services and government, we have created an environment in which we are not focused on suicide we are focused on prevention and increasing overall well-being. That was the purpose of the black tie ball, to start discussion, make demands and hear from REAL local people! Most importantly, working to reduce the stigma attached to mental health. I feel the focus should be on well-being and early intervention. All of us have dealt with grief and loss, whether it is from suicide, bushfire, drought, particularly here in rural nsw, the death of a loved one, relationship breakdown, the list goes on. I feel it’s the awareness of our community members, the education of those members to identify and intervene or refer to the services better equipped is the importance of organisations like ours. That’s why we have made it our mission to raise money to be kept local to improve OUR local services thereby our community as a whole.. #togetherwecan #smashthestigma #mentalhealh #mentalhealthawareness #startaconversation #ruok #clarencevalley #myclarencevalley #
