25.01.2022 Hi Friends, Our little bookshop is online with about 100 titles listed so far. Of course we have many, many more in stock that we will add when we can. http://www.bluebird-books.com/

24.01.2022 On my way to Urana to provide Training to the Shire's Community Groups next week, in the RIverina Town of Lockhart I found a bit of true "Community Gold". Roge...r and Louise at the Bluebird Cafe - a combination of interesting old books and Prize winning Pies - in fact, National Prize Winners in Gourmet Gluten Free Section.(Yes, the Coffee is great too) Micro-Business like this is the heart and soul of our Nation's economy, without which no larger business can exist. Before you support a Multi-national Franchise, think BIG..focus "Small. www.communityregeneration.com.au See more

24.01.2022 We won't be at The Eat Local Thursday markets this week as we will be resting up before Spirit of The Land on the weekend. Sorry to our gluten-free customers.

23.01.2022 Every so often someone comes into the bookshop and is surprised at our eclectic collection of quality books. A couple of months ago someone interested in music biographies asked if we had ever seen a copy of How To Make Gravy, Paul Kelly's memoir. It was published in 2010 and is out of print; we have a copy now although the plastic dust cover is heat damaged. We'll put it on http://www.bluebird-books.com/ soon... Other music bios include those of Burt Bacharach, the late Chrissie Amphlett, Kamahl; the list goes on... https://www.facebook.com/paulkellyofficial

23.01.2022 We have survived another festival weekend in Lockhart. It' always great to have people come by and enjoy what we have done with The Blue Bird. It's also nice to have people find a book they have been looking for, often a replacement of a treasured read 'lent' to a friend and never seen again... Thanks to our three helpers; Tilly, Ellen and Lilly - we couldn't have done it without you...

21.01.2022 A year ago we received an award in the Cultural and Heritage category at the 2014 INTA Awards in Griffith. The award encouraged us to keep going with The Blue Bird project, and it has been reassuring to have so many visitors enjoy their time with us. The Blue Bird is constantly evolving... Watch this space, or better still come and see us. https://www.facebook.com/inlandtourismawards

19.01.2022 If you get a chance, get to Cowra and have a look at "Selling An American Dream". It's an exhibition of photographs and stories of Greek Cafes and culture in Australia; and it's marvellous...

17.01.2022 See you there? It's going to be a fantastic weekend...

13.01.2022 We took our Gluten Free treats along yesterday to our last market for the year, and found out the organiser had decided it was to be the last one ever... The other traders and ourselves really wanted it to continue and grow, and all agreed that things had to change; sadly the organiser decided that the only way to do that was to kill it.

13.01.2022 Just letting you all know that we are taking a break from today. The Blue Bird will be closed until Australia Day.

11.01.2022 Things we like here include music biographies like 'Life' by (would you believe it) Keith Richard, 'Robert Plant; A Life' by Paul Rees, 'John' by Cynthia Lennon a 'Room Full of Mirrors, a biography of Jimi Hendrix' by Charles Cross and 'Dark Magus' on Miles Davis, by his son Gregory. For something really special we have a copy of 'Cold Chisel - The Pure Stuff' by Anthony O'Grady... Rare, valuable.

09.01.2022 A couple of new things we have on the (original) bar at The Blue Bird; Anadarko Honey and products from the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory. Of course we still have our Traditional Rock Candy and Choo Choo Bars.

07.01.2022 Although we won't be trading at the first Riverina Producer's Market today, we will be going to see what's going on. https://www.facebook.com/Riverina-Producers-Market-1669793869965458/

05.01.2022 A couple of additions to our range of used Australian history books including 'Gallipoli' and 'The Great War', both by Les Carlyon. More topically, we have first edition hardback copies of two books on the life of Bart Cummings; 'My Life' by the man himself, and 'The Master' again by Les Carlyon.

05.01.2022 Breaking news... We will be closed this Friday the 16th, hope we don't disappoint anyone.

04.01.2022 A few of the biographies in stock at The Blue Bird: Pleasure and Pain, My Life ~ Chrissy Amphlett Margaret and Gough ~ Susan Mitchell The Lucy Family Alphabet ~ Judith Lucy Peter Jackson, A Film Maker's Journey ~ Brian Sibley... Anyone Who Had A Heart ~ Burt Bacharach See more

04.01.2022 To die, to sleep - To sleep, perchance to dream - ay, there's the rub, For in this sleep of death what dreams may come... Thanks for that Mr. Shakespeare.... For anyone wondering what this has to do with anything, The Blue Bird in its guise as a (pretty damn good) second-hand bookshop will be at Clunes Booktown again this year on Saturday (30th April) and Sunday (umm, the 1st of May). Last year Clunes put on the "Most Marvellous Festival Ever" (IMHO), Friends, please come and say hello; and if you can't make it, send some of your friends...

02.01.2022 Hi all, we are back, refreshed... We ARE open today, Louise is making pies and sausage rolls in time for lunch.

01.01.2022 Bizarre stuff in the bookshop; a nice copy of Australia II, The Official Record. It's a coffee table book, full of pics. Who else remembers where they were, and what Hawkey said? Also in the coffee table line; 'True Blue' by Bill Tuckey. 75 years of Ford in Australia. Published back in 2000, I guess there won't be a 100th year edition...
