24.01.2022 Townsville residents are getting their hiking boots ready, with JMac Constructions having constructed 1.9 kilometres of the new 2.25 kilometre Mount Louisa walking track. 22.01.2022 JMac Constructions was proud to construct the new Mount Louisa Walking Track for the Townsville community. Over the last few months, our team have definitely got their 10,000 steps a day walking up and back to construct the new 3.5 kilometre track now it’s your turn!

20.01.2022 Today marks 12 months until the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics will kick off in Japan! The milestone has us thinking back to our own contribution to international sporting events, including the delivery of a design and construct package of work to build infrastructure for the 2018 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village. Supporting regional development, almost half of the project turnover was invested on the Gold Coast, and the project delivered more than 22,000 of regulated training, 44% above the 10% contract requirement. 19.01.2022 Last Friday, BMD held our first Safety Training Day for 2021, with our team in South Australia focusing on topics including laser levels, small tools, traffic management, housekeeping and PPE, and plant exclusion zones. The team also took part in a team building activity, constructing bicycles and go-karts which were donated to our community partner, HeartKids, South Australia. The training day demonstrates our holistic approach to safety and kick starts what is set to be a great 2021 in South Australia! Thank you to Coates Hire for supplying our breakfast and Marzelli, P Tech, AusDig, Oz Dig, Greg's Grader Hire, OTM, CCE, Brydaw Civil and Buttrose for supplying gift vouchers to allow us to purchase the bikes for assembly and donation.

We are pleased to announce our current Group Executive Director Operations, Scott Power has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, with company founder Mick Power AM relinquishing his role of Managing Director. Mick will retain his position of Chairman, while his son, Dare Power has been appointed to BMD’s Board of Directors. 18.01.2022 A trip to Bare Sand Island, baby turtles, dolphins, and a submarine sighting were just some of the activities the participants of the recent Kenbi Junior Rangers Cultural Camp were lucky enough to experience. A diverse group of young people from around the Darwin, Palmerston, Belyuen, and Wagait Beach regions attended the annual camp to learn about the work undertaken by the Kenbi Rangers on Country through participation in interactive workshops with industry experts and researchers. 18.01.2022 We cant get enough of delivering key infrastructure in North Queensland! BMD is proud to have been awarded the contract to construct a $29.2 million project to upgrade 7.3 kilometres of the Bruce Highway south of Ingham. The project will improve safety through the delivery of a wider highway with improved visibility and access, generating almost 50 local jobs during construction. 13.01.2022 BMD’s South Australian office is proudly displaying a Ngarrindjeri Plongi (fighting club) which was presented to our team by Elder Uncle Moogy in recognition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement demonstrated during construction of our King William Road Upgrade project. The project was recently awarded a Civil Contractors Federation SA Earth Award (category 3), the fifth consecutive year we have won this award. Uncle Moogy hand crafted the Plongi from a traditional tree in his native region, before performing spiritual ceremony on the significant gift to bring good fortune to its recipients. 13.01.2022 Clontarf Academy students from Ambrose Treacy Academy in Brisbane recently visited BMDs Sumners Road Interchange upgrade project. The project valued at $2.7 million will be integrated into the Gladys Elphick Park/Narnungga and replace the previous skate park on North Terrace which was removed in 2015. BMD risk assess using the hierarchy of control to best manage the high risk activity of working near live traffic and are constantly working towards innovations for the protection of our people. Our South Australian team have once again teamed up with SA Brothers to help get food and warm clothing directly to Adelaides homeless and disadvantaged. 06.01.2022 We’re super stoked to add another trophy to the cabinet over the weekend! Our Liverpool Street Pump Station project in South Australia’s coastal town, Port Lincoln won the Excellence in Project Innovation Water category at the IPWEA SA Awards. The City of Port Lincoln, together with BMD and Tonkin (with funding by Stormwater Management Authority), have protected the business district against flooding up to a one in 50-year rain event, by delivering a new submersible pumping station constructed within the road and new discharge pipe down Eyre Street. The $4.5 million project included construction of a new pump chamber with five new pumps capable of discharging up to 1700 litres per second. #thebmdway #winning

04.01.2022 BMD has proudly taken home an Earth Award at the Civil Contractors Federation Awards in the Top End over the weekend for the second consecutive year. Further cementing our a specialist capability in the wastewater sector, BMD’s Zuccoli West Sewage Pump Station project was awarded for our construction methodology and quality engineering. The project involved constructing a new pump station overcoming challenging ground conditions, deep excavations, working adjacent to known and unknown services and achieving 9-metre-deep fill placement to tight tolerances.
