25.01.2022 Listen up small eComm businesses, Facebook is rolling out new tools just for y'all. Let us talk about one of the latest - Facebook Shopping. Yep you can upload your entire shop catalogue on your Facebook page or Instagram profile (not completely a brand new thing but read on). It will integrate with several eComm platforms like the popular Shopify and WooCommerce. This means users can now browse, save their favs, shop collection and checkout directly within the platform! The...re is a small fee attached to using this service not too dissimilar from other platforms which is currently based on a per transaction rate of 5% for anything over 8 USD. This tool is going to be another revenue opportunity and a destination to drive traffic to in addition to your current online shop. Although wed definitely not recommend putting all your eggs in one basket and using only this new product to generate revenue. It is also important to remember that like a website, setting up the Facebook Shopping alone wont magically create a shit ton of purchases, you need to invest in a marketing strategy that is dedicated to drive qualified traffic to it. There are a bunch of expected caveats to actually being approved to use it, like having the right access and solid policies already in place. More on that later. This product is now rolling out in the US, but get in touch with your Facebook Ads Manager or reach out to an agency if you dont have one and make sure you are all ready to rock in roll when the opportunity lands in Aussie. Were excited.

24.01.2022 Today I am a guest speaker for a Facebook Business Support Group during COVID-19. I am discussing with the group of Business Owners and Leaders the crawl, walk and run system we have built for our clients when it comes to their digital strategies during this unprecedented time and I will be sharing insights on consumer spending behaviours to help the audience understand where they might need to "bucket" themself for now. So, what is the crawl, walk and run method and how do ...you work out where the hell you should sit? Let me begin with the runners, we all wish we were runners but that can't be the case unfortunately. The runners are those with products and services that are deemed new essentials. I say new essentials as it goes beyond the groceries and includes things like apparel or homewares for example. If you are a runner you need a damn good strategy to scale right now, like yesterday. I have clients doing 20+ ROAS right here, right now, in COVID! Next, we have the walkers. Perhaps an eComm store that is ticking along well, not necessarily a new essential product, but keeping things moving at a reasonable pace. If you are a walker you shouldn't panic, enjoy the walk but make sure your message strategy has pivoted to give a nod to the current sentiment. You may consider incentives and offers to push ROAS up gently. Now if you are a crawler, then this is a bloody tough time BUT you will come out the other side stronger than ever, IF, you use this time wisely. Business for these people is moving at a slow pace and positive revenue returns may not happening at all. These people need to take the time to work on their business and most importantly connect and add value to their audience. Is your business crawling, walking or running?

20.01.2022 We have had an influx of clients lately wanting brand style guides, content and website updates. This makes me happy. Like, really happy! Why? It means that even in unprecedented times like this, when we are thrust into an unknown and unplanned world. One that may have hurt revenue. That there are plenty of smart business owners with strength and stamina to push through and focus ON the business. These people are using this down time to plan and give the business a bit of a... once over. Get to those to dos that otherwise get pushed down the never-ending list. It means that when they come out of COVID-19 they are starting on the front foot. With fresh content that has been engaging their audiences in the down time. With a beautiful brand spanking new look and feel. With websites that actually convert and provide great user experience. These are the businesses that can ride the ups and downs and stand the test of time. Big ups to the lot of you! See more

20.01.2022 Today, we are talking Backlinks. A little understood SEO term, but a fab way to help you rank higher. Google considers quality backlinks as an important ranking factor. It shows you are a trusted authority, if other quality sites are prepared to link to you. They help the big G discover, crawl and index your site and boosts your trustworthiness. They can also drive traffic from key audiences. But not that not all links are created equal A backlink from the BBCs Food section... for example, will drive up more authority as a trusted site than some unknown source. But how do you earn quality links? Here well share a few key ones. 1. Brand Mentions - Simply put, this is where your name is already mentioned by another website, but may not yet have a link back to you. Searching and finding these and approaching those sites to ask for a link, is a worthwhile endeavour. There are tools you can use to do this which SEO experts use. 2. Niche Directories Listing yourself on the key ones for you Location and Industry helps peeps find you and grow your backlinks 3. Competitor Backlinks Backlink Research on your competitors can ensure you get an edge. If they are linked, there is a good chance some of those websites will be interested in your services too - worth exploring. 4. Blog Hosting This is where you get the most consistent growth. If you create blog content and get this hosted with 2 x relevant sites a month who have a high domain authority, yours will grow too. It can be time consuming growing those relationships with relevant hosting providers, so we suggest outsourcing this to an SEO service provider. If you already have one and they are not including this service, that should be a big red flag. You shouldnt be buying your links but earning them and these above tactics can form a key part of your SEO strategy. Give us a shout if you want to chat more about improving your organic search results.

20.01.2022 How do you get your content working for you? Content that is all about visual storytelling. It really is quite simple. Today we cut through the big five. Remember this when building content plans and you are on your way to lifting your brand through visual storytelling. 1. Swap out some of your stock for real photography. Yes, an investment, but well worth it if planned effectively. Real photography helps your audience connect. 2. Spice it up every now and then by taking you...r data and stats and combining it with images to create engaging info graphics. 3. Use more video. Yep, that hoary old chestnut, you can't over do it here. Video is one of the most engaging pieces of content you can create. 4. Pass the baton to your audience and encourage participation. User generated content is helps create social proof and create raving brand fans. 5. Be human. That is all. Don't try and be something you are not. Stay true to your brand values. People connect with people. There you have it. Use this time to dust off your content strategy and ensure these 5 big ones are considered in the mix.

19.01.2022 There's a new 'kid' on the block! Meet our Senior Digital Strategist Adam. Adam has worked in ad agencies, web development firms and marketing technology platforms for over 15 years; along the way also making time to start an online business and help out in the family toy shop, until it was sold a few years ago. An appreciation for great ideas, enjoyment of problem-solving and a penchant for simplifying complex concepts, along with willingness to test and learn and explore ne...w technologies has been key to Adam's success through a period of rapid transformation in the marketing industry, but as he explains "I just love playing with all this cool stuff!". When he's not crunching figures or writing creative briefs, you'll find Adam contemplating the perfect wine pairing for his next gastronomical adventure, researching parts for his next PC upgrade or nerding out with mates playing Dungeons and Dragons.

17.01.2022 We are having so many conversations now with clients asking about video production. For many using an expert production company is just out of the question. For those of you that are trying to create a series of content demonstrational videos we got our 6 top tips available for you. So, whip out the iPhone and your selfie stick, you're about to get your first polished video underway. 1. Shoot type - A simple tip, yet often carried out incorrectly. Shoot in landscape not ver...tical. 2. Stability - let's be honest the quickest way to destroy engagement is by making your viewer feel nauseous watching your shaky hand vid. This my friends, is where that selfie stick comes in handy or a tripod. You can buy both from Kmart for spare change. If all else fails, use two hands. Easy. 3. Lighting - One of the biggest questions we get is lighting and do I need to invest in professional lights. The answer is no. Just make sure you face the light not the other way around to avoid poor looking shadows across the subject. 4. Audio - Again you don't need to invest big bucks into professional mics if you don't have the cash. Amazon has a range of small clip on mics that can plug into your phone for a steal. And it goes without saying pick a quiet space with zero background noise. 5. Set - My personal favourite is the super imposed Tiger King Zoom backdrop...but in all seriousness choose your backdrop that is clean and simple. One that aligns with your brand style and be consistent. If you are shooting a series of videos, then keep that background the same. 6. Close - Don't forget to use the opportunity to close off and add a strong CTA into the video. It might be check out our website for X, subscribe to our channel, share with your friends etc. Whatever it is, don't lose the opportunity to take the viewer on the journey. Happy shooting!

17.01.2022 Social Media is a fab way to engage, tell a story and build a deeper relationship with potential customers, repeat customers and super referrers, but if no one is following, theyll miss your message. Growing your audience is a worthwhile pursuit, especially for those folk running a small business or new brand, but many dont know where to start to do this. Today we shout out some key ways you can crank up your follower count. Lets get at it! https://loom.ly/ypRXkIw

16.01.2022 Today, let's talk Tagging. Instagram tagging is a fab way to build your account. There are 4 ways to tag - 1. Mention - Simply put, this is where we mention another account in a post by using the @ followed by their username in a comment or post. This is super visible for users and they can click on through to that account. 2. Tag - This is a straight up tag you add within the post. The bonus here is it shows up as a separate notification and doesn't get lost in a users feed.... It also appears in that bizs profile, next to the grid, with everything else they have been tagged in. The negative here vs. a mention, is that users don't tend to see or tap on it, so we suggest doing both to up exposure. Check the 'Tag PeopIe' button on the caption screen to action this trick. You can add these to images or videos. Just make sure you tag people and brands that appear on that post, rather than just a bunch to get attention, or you'll get flagged for spam - uncool. 3. Location Tags - Add this baby in and it appears below your user name on the post plus it's clickable. People search locations all the time for what's going on and things to do, or to check out a biz. Encourage your customers to tag your location too. Don't tag every post with this gem, save it for those you want to strategically boost exposure on. Ace. 4. Product Tags If youve set up your store, you can add product tags to posts that have your products in them. These posts have a shopping bag icon, so peeps know they are shoppable. Users can then click on the product to see info on it, then navigate to the shop to order. Easy. You can use these tags individually or combine them for maximum exposure! Reach out if you want some help with growing your social reach and exposure.

12.01.2022 Do you know what percentage of your advertising dollars are bringing in new customers versus reengaging existing ones? This can be done fairly easily by applying some simple script to your checkout page. You then can create a custom conversion for first time purchasers. You create the new conversion action in your ads platform e.g. Facebook or Google and then incorporate that into your reporting dashboards. A beautiful new data set to immerse yourself in over a coffee.

11.01.2022 Hands up who relied on foot traffic as a revenue stream? Hopefully your pivot to online is helping you stay above water or even better is taking you to new heights via eCommerce. For those of you that are trying to get through this period because your service based bricks and mortar business is now closed - yes those beauticians, hospo, hairdressers and the list goes on, we are talking about you - save this one for later. Instagram has rolled out gift card, food ordering and ...fundraising tools to help businesses impacted by COVID-19 - good move Insta! Essentially this is another way for businesses that have been shut down during this time, with another way to generate revenue. So, if you are a restaurant for example you can use the "order food" sticker in your stories and profiles. It gives your loyal customers an easy way to order food from your socials when in the moment. The fundraiser options are a great alternative for businesses that would otherwise offer a face to face service and might now be creating value add content via their socials to keep audiences engaged. You can now start a personal fundraiser for this content by way of example, calling on customers to support you. You might be a hairdresser that is giving online lessons on hair styles or keeping your hair in its best shape whilst in iso. Or you might be a yoga teacher providing online classes to keep your clients engaged. We love this, as it means people need to stretch the creativity and innovate, but these tools help you pivot. Check it out. See more

11.01.2022 I often bang on about "Digital Experts" and low balling the industry with their cheap rates but also cheap services aka really doesnt have the skill set or knowledge level required to carry out the job correctly. I use my comms platforms to try and educate business owners on the services, what is required to do the job correctly and I would like to think that these smart people can then make the right decisions about who they partner with. Today we are going to chat about SE...O and keywords. SEO IS NOT JUST KEYWORDS PEOPLE. That is yesterday's news. It is a helluva lot more than that which I have touched on before. Scroll back to late May for some of that. Today, a portion of SEO involves keywords. At one point they were everything. The most important thing your site needed to be built on. Not saaah much now. They have been sidelined a little, but still have their place, just in a different way. Most importantly keywords give us insights and clues as such. They help us understand how and what people are searching for. They help us understand the questions they have on certain topics and ultimately help us align content to themes. They are some great free and paid tools available to help you start getting more familiar with what's going on in keyword land. Be sure to check them out. - KWFinder - Answer The Public - Google Trends - Google Keyword Planner. So there you have it, next time someone says they can do your SEO for you and it is a keyword only strategy, run for the hills (OR pay appropriately for their time and ensure you understand this alone will not get your website ranking). Happy keyword hunting!

10.01.2022 Today our Account Manager Heather shares with us one of the best kept SEO secrets with Google My Business (GMB) you can add posts. Heather likens these to mini-ads where you can promote whats new, events, time-limited offers, promos and product info. They allow a call to actions like book, order online, buy, learn more, sign up, read this blog here - you get the gist! These posts will show up when someone searches your business name, on Google or views your GMB profile on ...Google Maps. Here is Heathers top need-to-knows for the perfect post. Title Up to 58 characters. Description Up to 200 characters, but we would stick to 80-100. Insert your searchable key words. Image size 750750, or if this does not do the job, try 400300 for size. They expire after 7 days, so mark your calendar to refresh them. Include your CTA and URL to your website. A scarce message can deliver ace results exclusive offer, limited time and so forth. Appeal to peoples self-interest (words like bargain, why, easy, save, quick, proven) or give some news (words like new, now, at last, discover, announcing, just arrived), both proven to capture more eyeballs! Bear in mind that although this is fab, GMB alone will not enable a flood or organic traffic, you will want to couple it with a strong on-page and offsite SEO strategy. See more

Oh no - we know that running a successful social platform requires you to not just talk the talk - you also have to look the part! 09.01.2022 I often wonder why digital marketing channels always seem to be overlooked in terms of the complexity involved in managing the performance of them. Today we wanted to try and break down how ranking occurs and why it is critical your SEO strategy is delivered by experts. Search engines like Google and Bing have a bot that crawls the web. It does this by following links from your website pages and links from one website to another. The bot arrives at a page and reads the code a...nd stores this information. This is called indexing. In simple terms, if you are indexed, you rank...maybe not that well...but you will rank. A rank is a position for a particular search term. Search engines do their best to show the most appropriate information for search terms by ranking the most relevant on top. Rank is broadly determined in the current algorithm by importance, quality and relevance. But u underpinning that are hundreds of variables that you ultimately want to optimise for...are you starting to see where I am going here? When it comes to these there are many you can control but many you can't. What you can control is content you publish, quality of the backlinks you acquire, your website performance and ensuring you are mobile friendly. This done well will certainly help your ranking on the page. However, the uncontrollable factors such as trending topics, competition, environmental events, can get in the way of the controllable work and effect ranking from time to time. If you haven't worked it out yet, I will call it out. This means that SEO related tasks are ongoing, a long game. It requires constant evaluating, tweaking and refinement. All with the right set of tools to ensure opportunities, roadblocks and full assessment can be navigated. There you have it 101 on search engine ranking. See more

09.01.2022 Tik tok, tik tokanother social media platform exploding before our eyes. But why do we care? Bytedance the owners of TikTok are thought to be the world's most valuable start up. Who would have thought a social channel that allows you to post dicky lip syncs and shuffle dance tutorials would be such a hit? Is it telling us that a large part of the population has some deep-rooted desire to be famous entertainers and no one knew before now? On a serious note, this short form vi...deo content is entertainment that appeals - particularly to the Gen Z. The important take away from the rise of TikTok is humans are looking for micro-entertainment that enables short burst of distraction. So, what does this mean for brands? Like other video inclusive platforms, TikTok is another way for brands to connect with audiences in with engaging content. Be it behind the scenes, competitions etc. The content must suit the length and nature of the platform and done right you can reap the rewards of high engagement. Brands can also now pick up TikTok influencers to showcase their products through the channel. Similarly, TikTok monetises through paid ad inventory options. There are several ways to advertise on the platform and the ad types aren't too dissimilar to YouTube or other social platform ad types. From native to paid options, the key is getting the content bang on. Fit for purpose and your away.

08.01.2022 Today we want to chat about a couple of super helpful tips to remember before launching your brand for all those in the wings. Save this for later as these simple hacks will make your launch day a heap more satisfying than hearing crickets. 1. Build a community of people that fit your target market. One of the easiest ways to do this is to create an Instagram account, develop an engaging content plan and spend a good amount of time across a decent period, finding your target ...audience and engaging with them so they hop across to your account. If this is done right, you should have a hyper engaged audience that are already brand fans, so when you have something they can purchase they are first in your online shop. 2. Work with a digital marketing agency or specialist to develop you post engagement ads. These little gems work with offer or incentive and encourage users to engage with your ad by liking and commenting. Obviously it is not as simple as throwing an ad up there and hoping for the best. It needs to be crafted perfectly and the ad strategy has to have the right objectives attached and audiences tested. Once you have collected all the engagement and you are ready to launch you can move that ad into your funnel. This means cold audiences are seeing an ad with loads of engagement and it provides them the social proof they need to move into your ad funnel. These two tactics alone can help you have a ripper of a launch week, but remember the hard work doesnt stop there. It has just begun. To keep your funnel full you need to have an excellent marketing strategy in place. Happy launching! See more

08.01.2022 Today were talking Reels, some say the TikTok of Instagram. This new feature on Insta allows you to create and share short video content. You can record 15 second videos with audio, effects and new creative tools. You can share your reels with your followers via your feed and if you have a public account, make them available to the wider Insta community through a new space in Explore. Here are some ideas on how you can use Reels for your business: Fashion brand, showcase t...rying on a new item for sale with a quick spin If you are in real estate, you can do super quick room tour for a new home on the market Hair or beauty salon, shoot a before and after of a client PiIates instructor, record your latest moves to practise at home Café, showcase making the perfect mocha? They are super simple to create. To get started open Insta and 1. Just tap the + on your story icon as you would if you were creating a story 2. Choose the new item Reels from the bottom menu. 3. Tap get started and then the Iarge Reels button to add video clips, or record your own video in the app 4. Once your reel is ready to go, click share screen, where you have the option of saving your reel as a draft to complete later, change the cover image, add captions / hashtags and tag others. 5.Once youve shared it, it is saved on a new Reels tab on your profile page. You can also choose to share it to your feed and it will appear as any Insta post does. Simple, try it out and tag us in a reel to let us know! Happy Reeling!

08.01.2022 Listen in Insta users who sell stuff. From tomorrow any eligible business or creator account with at least one eligible product can use shopping tags to drive people to their website to make a purchase. To make this work you must be signed up for Instagram Shopping and be approved to start tagging in the first place. Then businesses must tag products on Instagram from a single website that they own and sell from, so that people have a consistent and trusted shopping experience. Get amongst it if you aren't already.

07.01.2022 We've been busying ourselves with set up for many or our new clients recently, and as part of that we have been using Google Tag Manager. So, we thought we would share some basic information for those who are not familiar with the tool - Take note! You might be thinking, what is Google Tag Manager and how can it help my business? Simply put, Google Tag Manager is a free tool that Google created to help you improve the measurement of your marketing results. It helps you to ma...nage all your measurements in one spot! An example being say someone buys something from your shop - you can ask Tag Manager to tell Facebook, but also let Google Analytics know, plus Google Ads and linked in too please. or wherever else you are doing advertising. That way all your platforms are co-ordinated and getting one source of the truth - Simple! To get in and use the tool, go to tagmanager.google.com and create an account. There are 3 need to know sections. 1. Tags - Where you tell GTM what you want them to do, say send a page view to GA or FB, or an event to GA. 2. Triggers - Where you tell GTM when you want that action taken, for instance anytime someone watches a YouTube video, clicks on a specific link, form, or views a page. 3. Variables section which is the information GTM needs to get the job done. Easy. There are a heap of tags to choose from, plus you can go into the Templates section for a load more 3rd parties have developed - including a Facebook Pixel one, which is a massive time saving must have! Once you have set them up you can preview them and hit publish. Super.

06.01.2022 We always get a heap of questions on Facey Ads and how we create the magic, so today were bringing you our super-hot optimisation tips to lift your Ads game! Many of our customers have tried their hand at Facebook advertising, putting in the hours to get it working. We get it, when you are starting out, budgets are tight and you may not have the initial cashflow to outsource you may get some initial success, but then things become stale and you run out of ideas. Today well share some areas of optimisation to consider and some of our best practise tips. Check it out https://loom.ly/QVB5mRw

06.01.2022 We regularly onboard new Facebook Ads clients. Many of them have tried their hand at it themselves or they have had someone else they previously outsourced to. The most common gripeI didn't make money off them. We are going to talk this month about some of the biggest issues we see in preventing eCommerce businesses from making money off their Facebook Ads. The first we discuss today - lack or absent ads strategy. We need to remember that there is a whole heap of opportunity... when it comes to digital marketing and this is not placing an ad in the paper or magazine with one chance, one message. We need to consider our content strategy and align that with a user journey. Cold audiences that have never heard of your brand will want and need a vastly different message to those that have engaged with your brand and added a product to cart for example. Before jumping into ads consider the message that needs to be in front of your audience across the full journey. Not a one size fits all. Give us a hola if you want to chat through it some more. 04.01.2022 We recently completed a website rebuild for one of our digital clients. We are super stoked with the outcome, driving website conversion from under 0.5% to nearly 4%! When an average eCommerce website converts at 2%, this is a job well done. Not only did we want the client to have a website that considered UX and converted well, WE also needed it to perform so we could perform at our best when running their digital ads. You see, a digital ad strategy can be the hottest on the block, but if your website is rubbish, then you are literally throwing money in the bin. Already ROAS for their digital campaigns has improved significantly. We're excited! See for yourself at www.tonyandmunro.com.au.

04.01.2022 Keywords are the key, literally, to SEO. Nail Keywords and your organic views will start coming in! But did you know there are different types of keywords? Today we want to share two super important ones. Short tail keywords These are as described short. 3 words or less. They have a super high search volume, but they are also very competitive! The users have a broad search intent and a low conversion rate compared to other keywords.... For usage, they are great as an overall theme keyword to litter throughout your website. Audiences use them as a first step of researching and they dont have a high conversion rate, as there is a difficulty matching intent, but they have a wide audience, so worth including as part of your mix. Long tail keywords You guessed it these are longer 3 word plus and are more specific. They have a lower search volume and are less competitive. Users have a very specific search intent and typically know what they are looking for here, so give them the detail and you can convert them more easily. With a high conversion rate, these are great to use in targeted pages, especially your product pages and your blog posts. There are many more types of keywords we can get into another time. 03.01.2022 Today we are talking Sitelinks - what they are, why you’d want them and what can you do to get them. The what: Sitelinks are links shown below the description of your snippet, in Google Search Results that point to other pages on your website. They’re automated by Google’s algorithms and are only shown when they are useful to the user. We’ve given you an example on this post (swipe right for Insta- Maddie you will need to do a diff version of text for FB). The why: They can... improve the appearance of your snippet in search results and increase the amount of space your entry occupies, this means more visibility, more traffic and higher Click Through Rates (CTR). Simple. They’ll also up visits to internal pages that up your conversion rates like ‘contact us’ or product pages. Lastly, they’ll up the info the user gets before they visit your website, such as your services and products, leading to more brand awareness and knowledge. Fab. The how: It’s up to the Big G to decide whether to show or not sitelinks for a search query, but there are things you can do to up the chances of them being shown and help Google pick the right sitelinks. These include having a simple site structure, ensuring important pages link from the home page, defining proper titles and descriptions for candidate pages, internal links to help Google identify important pages and optimising your website for technical and on-page SEO. If you want to talk to us about this or any other SEO strategies, book in a free consult. Easy.

02.01.2022 Marketing in house is totally cool if you have the money to pay the overheads. Let's take a quick look at it. Our average client uses us for around three channels. For the purpose of this post, let us use - Facebook Ads, Google Ads and SEO. We overlay data analytics, strategic head, and an account manager. 1 x Marketing Director (Strategy) = 180-250K 1 x Data Analyst =100-150K 1 x Ads Manager (if you are lucky, they are skilled at both Facebook and Google Ads) = 70 - 100K... 1 x SEO expert 70 - 100K 1 x Team assistant (Account Manager) = 60-70K Worth saving this one for next time you have a conversation with an agency about their management fees. Maybe they aren't so expensive after all...

01.01.2022 Saaaah many times I have heard people talking about their new business aka website and hearing only crickets at launch. Here's the thing, if you don't make people aware of your business, engage them enough that they want to check it out and provide a compelling offer they will want to purchase, then yes you will get crickets. Every business launch must have a marketing strategy. Shocking, I know!
