25.01.2022 FIT-OUT FRIDAY - This 79 Series Landcruiser Single Cab has to be one of the best examples we have seen for a long time; everything on this vehicle has been done with real thought and outstanding quality. The vehicle is running an ARB 4x4 Accessories bullbar with full brush bars and side steps, and to cut through the darkness there are driving lights and a Bushranger light bar up front. The steel tray has been built for purpose, the dog box houses the Engel fridge on a Clearv...iew Accessories tilt slide along with an additional storage drawer. The tool box on the side of the tray houses a full Baintech dual battery system along with an ARB compressor which is linked to an air tank underneath the tray, making re-inflating the big 35" Mickey Thompson Tires Australia tyres much easier. It's the interior of this vehicle that really sets it apart from the rest. The roof and door cards have been recovered to a really high standard along with the custom console that house the GME UHF radio and a bank of auxiliary switches in easy reach. The Department of the Interior centre console provides the much needed cup holders and a heap of extra storage. The Alpine stereo coupled with the @Rockford Fosgate midrange speakers in the doors and tweeters in the A-Pillar pods provides fantastic sound for those longer drives. The A-Pillar pod on the drivers side also houses an analogue boost gauge with integrated digital EGT display. It was such a pleasure to work on a vehicle that is obviously the owners pride and joy. We installed The Bush Company's Black Series Clamshell Rooftop Tent, using three lengths of 20mm*50mm 3mm thick aluminium box tubing to provide the necessary support between the rear ladder rack and the dog box. Our local ARB 4x4 Accessories store have already installed the ARB bull bar with a WARN Zeon winch, for rubber there are a set of Mickey Thompson Tires Australia BAJA ATZs wrapped around a great looking set of ROH Wheels alloy rims, and the Old Man Emu BP51 Remote Res shocks help to keep them stuck to the tracks. The Safari 4x4 Engine...ering ARMAX snorkel is making sure that the big V8 is getting all the air it needs. The interior fit out so far involves a set of ARB draws with a National Luna fridge sitting on an MSA 4X4 Accessories drop down fridge slide. 23.01.2022 In the words of the Rolling Stones "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need", this was certainly the case when it came time for Dean the owner of The Bush Company to choose a vehicle to replace his Isuzu D-Max. Over the years Dean has owned and built up several 4WDs as touring/expedition vehicles and has been lucky enough to have explored some of the most remote and incredible parts of the African sub-continent. Despite being an av...id Landcruiser enthusiast, when Dean relocated with his wife to Australia over 5 years ago he chose the Isuzu D-Max as his first Aus based touring rig. This truck has been a very reliable workhorse and touring rig and will be staying in the Bush Company vehicle fleet, but it was time for a change. So this was the big dilemma for Dean, what vehicle should he chose as his next touring rig? Requirements have changed over recent years with the expansion of Dean's family to include two small children, so this had to be factored into the equation. With the range of vehicles that pass through The Bush Company's fitment centre Dean has had plenty of chances to take a good look at what's on offer and discuss the pros and cons with their respective owners. It was kind of inevitable that Dean would stick to the Landcruiser range this time around, but the big question was which model would suit his needs. As you can see in the video the decision was based not necessarily on Dean's dream vehicle, but more on what met the requirements he had set out. In the end he chose the 79 Series Landcruiser and with the help of of the Ian Weigh Toyota in Rockhampton he was even able to get hold of one is his favourite Sandy Taup colour. Don't be fooled though, Dean is well aware of the shortcomings of this vehicle in its stock form from Toyota, but that is exactly the sort of 'blank canvas' that is the perfect place to start with a touring rig build. 13.01.2022 Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the Bush Company Roof Top Tent Black Series MAX edition is unrivaled in its quality, simplicity and practicality. With a setup/pack down time of under 2 minutes and a 75mm high density foam mattress 1.3m wide and 2.15m long, this really is the ultimate in comfort and convenience and a superb addition to any camping/touring setup. The Black Series MAX has a double action opening roof, so you have the option of either just opening ...the tent as a Clamshell or opening the second roof providing 141cm of headroom at the rear and 137cm at the front of the tent. The second roof can be closed easily from the inside or outside of the tent and is firmly secured when closed with catches on the sides and front. In addition to the standard rear and side openings found on the Black Series, when fully open the Black Series MAX has an additional large opening at the front of the tent and two additional windows on the side of the canvas providing increased airflow and also visibility from the tent. All of the openings on the Black Series MAX have high quality midge mesh and a canvas door that zips up from the bottom. The custom canopy has been well set up for touring with a full dual battery set up, water tank and storage. This customer has chosen to install The Bush Company's Black Series MAX Rooftop Tent with its double action roof. 03.01.2022 It is always great to see the older Landcruisers brought back to full glory and this one is a fantastic example, but is a bit of a hybrid with a BJ short wheel base chassis and BJ engine with a FJ45 cab. The vehicle has been restored from the ground up with every nut and bolt replaced, plus a full engine rebuild and a custom turbo setup with stainless steel powder coated snorkel. Real thought has gone into the setup of this vehicle; with a 170 Amp auxiliary battery behind th...e drivers seat looked after by a @REDARC Electronics Manager 30 and hooked up to a REDARC 100W inverter there is certainly no shortage of power to support a full and lengthy camping stay. The vehicle is no show pony and is fitted up for serious 4WD work with an ARB 4x4 Accessories bull bar, custom rock sliders and 33" Mud Terrain BFGoodrich Tires. The rear tray has been well designed and has a 50L water tank behind the cab, as well as a very clever design on the rear mud flaps for when the going gets tough. 02.01.2022 FIT-OUT FRIDAY - This 79 Series Landcruiser Dual Cab is getting set up for some long term touring with the equipment that the customer knows will stay the distance. For front end protection there is an ARB 4x4 Accessories bullbar with integrated brush bars and side steps, and to get out of some of those sticky situations there is a WARN 9,500lb winch. Communication is taken care of with a GME UHF and there is a Hema Maps navigation system to help find some hidden camping sp...ots. For towing there are Clearview Accessories mirrors and the vehicle has had a full @Ironman GVM suspension upgrade to manage the extra ball weight. The rear canopy is from MW QLD Toolbox Canopy and Trailer and provides the customer with the flexibility to customise the internal layout to meet their specific needs. There are two Engel 45L fridges running off two deep cycle AGM batteries that are looked after by an Enerdrive Pty Ltd DC/DC charger. We fitted our ALPHA Clamshell Rooftop Tent directly to the roof of the canopy. 01.01.2022 FIT-OUT FRIDAY - The @Volkswagen V6 Dual Cab Amarok is a truly great workhorse and makes an awesome platform for setting up as a touring rig. The Rhino Cab Extreme Alu Canopy in black powder coat finish really sets of the charcoal metallic paint on this vehicle. We also installed The Bush Company Explorer Roof Rack to provide the extra storage space on top. Using the built in rails on the canopy to install the roof rack results in a really low profile fitment. The Explor...er Rack is a real bargain at only $799 when compared to other brands, it is a fully welded aluminium in black powder coat finish with the slats running lengthways to help reduce wind noise.
