24.01.2022 FLYING PIG (Isolation version) Here’s a little jig We call the Flying Pig! ... What do Bushwackers do in iso? We play lots of music of course! Featuring some of our far flung band members from all around Australia and NZ. We loved collaborating on this version of Flying Pig just for you, keeping the Bushies spirit going, and also reminding you that we are still alive! Here's our lineup: Dobe (Melbourne) on whistle, lagerphone, tambourine, bones & bells Roger (Lorn) on mandolin and acoustic guitar Mark Oats (from somewhere??? Man of mystery these days!) on fiddle Clare O'Meara (Waverton) on fiddle and piano accordion Liam Kennedy-Clark (NZ) on bass and electric guitar Andy Gatus (Sunshine Coast) on drums Gabi Blissett (East Maitland) on fiddle Sarah & Silas (south western Melbourne) on fiddles, and Ben Corbett, who edited all of this from Randwick in Sydney. If you love this as much as we all did putting it altogether for you, please give us a shout with a share on online or purchase a CD (or three!) from our online store: www.thebushwackers.com.au

09.01.2022 Today is #ausmusictshirtday where we all rep some of our favourite Aussie artists and donate to Support Act, who are the heart and hand of Australian music, helping artists, roadies and music workers facing hardship. If you can spare a few bucks, please consider donating. You can also support your favourite artists directly by buying their shirts or other merch. Rog and Sam (our admin guru) are pictured in sunny Tumut today repping Montgomery Church, Kevin Bennett & The Flood & Fanny Lumsden. Donate here: https://www.ausmusictshirtday.org.au
07.01.2022 we love getting these old photos from days gone by. Here's one from 1977 in Germany. The band was Dobe Newton, Jan Wositzsky, Mick Slocum, Davy Kidd, Louis McManus and i think Pete Farndon.
06.01.2022 Tamworth Country Music Festival Bushies Update Hi everybody, we hope you're travelling ok out there Well that's a bloody big shame that Tamworth isn't going to happen this coming January, and extra annoying for us, as 2021 was to be our 50th year of performing around Australia and the world! ... The Bushwackers first went to Tamworth in 1981. We were all living in Melbourne and we hadn't really been aware of the Tamworth Festival. We drove into town looking like people from Melbourne and discovered all the atmosphere of the whole Tamworth scene. I can tell you, we were suitably amazed! We had travelled up because we'd been nominated for a Golden Guitar Award in the Instrumental section. The GG Awards were held in a giant tent back then and the cream of country music royalty were there. I'm not sure what they thought of us scruffy Melbourne musicians when we won the award and walked past them to collect it...I can imagine though!! In those days there were live radio ads read out during the broadcast and also the winners played a song at the end of the show, which was quite strange but really fun. As a band, we've hardly missed a Tamworth Festival since and have gained so many memories and friends among all the people we've met and worked with. So while we are feeling very disappointed about January 2021, we'll be back in 2022 for sure and we can't wait to catch up with all our wonderful, loyal fans up there. Just so you know, everybody in the band is fine and we'll be back playing shows as soon as we're allowed. In the meantime, we're sending our best Bushwackers vibes into your homes and hope we see you all somewhere really soon. Stay safe everyone and look out for each other. : An ad for our show at the Tamworth Workies 1981. Just look at those ticket prices!
04.01.2022 This came in from a friend. Its a flyer for the gigs at The Manly Vale Hotel. I'm not entirely sure of the year but probably 1981. What an amazing time it was for pub rock aficionados. You could go out any night of the week and see great live music. What happened Australia?? BTW pretty good line up of acts here: I can make out The Ian Gillan Band (Deep Purple), The Numbers , Stockade, Fast Cars, Max Merrit, Midnight Oil, The Straycats, Steppenwolf, and of course The Bushwackers. Great times.
04.01.2022 It was lovely having a strum with our youngest Bushie, #103 little Rory Phillips yesterday, who ain't so little anymore! #ausmusictshirtday
