23.01.2022 I love travel, adventures and history, always have. Traditions can be a wonderful nod to our heritage or they can be a way to control with a subtext of fear and `towing the line'. Take this one, for example, from Austria. Krampus is the yin to Saint Nicolas's yang. He is half goat, half demon who punishes and whips naughty children and stuffs them in a sack to take to the underworld. ... YIKES! I don't like your chances of having a good night's sleep if you're an Austrian child who has been getting on your parents goat (no pun intended). Happy Krampus!

20.01.2022 Mother Teresa knew the importance of language and how its use frames intention and momentum. When she was invited to an anti-war rally, she said I will not attend an anti-war demonstration, when you have a pro-peace rally, invite me. Live with intention and purpose and bring mindfulness to your language. How you use language will frame your reality

20.01.2022 Hello beautiful, unique soul . Do you know there is no-one in the universe like you; with your unique and gifted talents and experiences? Why is it then, that you compare yourself to others? That you compare your worst, with images of others at their `seemingly’ best? That you question your self-worth and value, and are caught in the trap of worrying about what others’ think of you? Our `reality’ is an external representation of our internal world. It is only when we nou...rish and feed our inner being, align goals to OUR values, not the values we have been conditioned by, and let down our drawbridge of trust only to those that have proven worthy, do we stop associating joy with Doing and instead carry it cellularly in our Being. The only comparison of worth is YOUR progress from YOUR yesterday.

It packs a serious punch of goodness and tastes pretty yummy too! 2 tbsp flaxseeds 1 tbsp raw cacao 1 banana 1/2 cup frozen organic wild blueberries... Coconut water (enough to blend to your desired consistency) Enjoy See more

16.01.2022 For me, this time comes with the reality that my body isn't what it was in my 20's and compassion for how it has served me with very few complaints and niggles. It has birthed my babies, one who was a whopper, and seen many travels and adventures. I look after it physically by taking it out for walks and yoga and nourish it well (most of the time). I don't subject it to unrealistic expectations or buy into body shaming - berrating it, like I once did. Life is a journey and ageing can be an adjustment. Let's focus on the wonder of our bodies and show it the love and gratitude it deserves; wobbly and wrinkly bits included.

05.01.2022 Melatonin, menopause & sleep A search of the internet and corresponding research indicates that between 40-60% of menopausal women suffer from sleep disruption with the most common complaint being waking up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. Prolonged disruption to our sleep patterns is linked to depression and it is therefore no wonder that peri and menopausal women suffer from both `brain fog’ and its resultant lack of focus, clarity and forgetfulness and... more instances of low mood and depression brought on by poor sleep. As estrogen drops, so too does melatonin which is responsible for managing our circadian rhythm, or natural sleep cycle, and also our ability to metabolise carbohydrates, hence the greater propensity for belly fat during menopause. Melatonin also has an important role in a healthy immune system and as an anti-inflammatory. Stress factors, such as those described, also typically see an increase in the hormone, cortisol, which further down regulates melatonin and exacerbates our sleep problems. Whilst melatonin can be bought in artificial form from the chemist there are also natural ways that we can increase our melatonin production whilst also down regulating our cortisol levels; Meditation is the gateway to quietening our inner critic, engaging our heart-centre (spirit) and disconnecting from the noise, with a resultant reduction in our stress hormone, cortisol and natural increase in melatonin. Water and adequate hydration is key to healthy secretion of toxins. It also acts as a conduit for the higher frequency generated during meditation, creates a more stable thyroid gland and positively affects the adrenals. Avoiding stimulants like alcohol and caffeine will also assist sleep. Loving acceptance and letting go of should, need to and must. Whilst menopause may bring feelings of lost youth, reproduction and plenty of unwanted symptoms, it also brings with it wisdom, time for ourselves and an opportunity to further connect with our intuition and innate feminine energy. Letting go for more flow. Focus on all the things that bring joy and gratitude in your life; what we focus on is amplified in our reality. So the more we can attune our attention to joy, abundance and what we want to experience in our life the more of that we call in. The opposite is of course true, hence the term be careful what you focus on.
