22.01.2022 Today we had the absolute pleasure of working in our studio with the talented students and staff from Narrandera East Infants School! For their music curriculum and to celebrate NAIDOC week, they have been working on a song that honours Wiradjuri sovereignty and knowledge within their school community. The recorded version of their song will be debuted at their end of year presentation day. It was heartwarming to see the next generation of musicians in action! Thanks Liss Routley for a wonderful day
22.01.2022 Online Music Production Workshop over 2 days. The Cad Factory is pleased to be continuing our partnership with Music NSW to deliver workshops that aim to address gender imbalance within music production by presenting workshops for Women, Non-Binary and Trans Folx. These workshops will be delivered by Michelle Barry who is an established and respected Engineer, Producer and Audio Educator with experience in studios across Australia, the States and the UK.... Michelle also has experience in running audio production workshops remotely and online, which enables us to adapt this opportunity in times of isolation. This online workshop is designed to demonstrate the art of mixing and provide feedback for recording musicians. The tools of mixing and effects chains are explored, along with specifications for finalising your tracks to share or stream. Developing music producers are invited to share productions in a supportive environment with their peers. Mixing techniques will be tailored to the group's style and interest Applications are open NOW and places are limited so people should apply as soon as possible and share it throughout their networks. Places are free due to the support of Create NSW MusicNSW and The Cad Factory. https://www.cadfactory.com.au/music-workshop

Then ABC Radio heard we were in town and invited us to their studios for an interview. Thanks to West Darling Arts and the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery for your assistance today.
19.01.2022 Yesterday we embraced our new zoom world by having a floor talk online! Since we didn't get to have an opening, of course we had to have one quick dance to a tune by DJ Lay Da Best. 'Inside Cinema vs Parallel Universe' is open at Griffith Regional Art Gallery until Sunday 18 October.

16.01.2022 Joyce Spencer was a formidable creative force in the Riverina and beyond. She was a collaborator, a friend and a guide to many people when she passed in 2019. In honour of Joyce, we have partnered with Western Riverina Arts and the Spencer family to deliver the Joyce Spencer Textiles Fellowship over 2 years. Round one applications will close soon on July 19th and offers $4000 to a textiles artist or artist group to create and present new work. We established this fellowship t...o honour Joyce and her legacy and to contribute to our artistic ecology by providing direct opportunities to artists in these complex, uncertain times. An aim which we know Joyce would support. Open to all regional NSW based textiles artists. www.cadfactory.com.au

14.01.2022 Western Riverina Arts, the Cad Factory and the Spencer family are so pleased to announce that from 1 June - 19 July 2020 we are inviting people to submit applications for the inaugural Joyce Spencer Textiles Fellowship! It's worth $4000 and will be given to a regional NSW artist or collective to make new, original artworks to be presented before December 2022. Joyce Spencer (1928-2019) was an incredible artist in Narrandera and her love of making inspired so many of us here. We miss Joyce being present in our creative community and this textiles fellowship is a small way we can honour her memory.
14.01.2022 We love this artwork by Annelise and can't wait to share it as part of 'Inside Cinema vs Parallel Universe'! It opens at Griffith Regional Art Gallery on 11 September!

08.01.2022 On Wednesday we had a beautiful launch of 'Life on the Sandhills' at Narrandera Shire Library. A huge congrats to the outstanding artists, Andrea Briggs, Dexter Briggs, Owen Lyons and Micheal Lyons Snr. Their work is on permanent display at the library for everyone to visit and enjoy! We loved hearing the artists share their stories and memories of growing up on the Sandhills in Narrandera. We also wanted to give a huge shout out to Kerri Weymouth who has been interning as our Local Producer this year. We have loved working with you Kerri over 2020 and congratulations on delivering this thoughtful project honouring an important part of Narrandera's history. And completing you Masters at MIECAT!
07.01.2022 As the world went in to shut down and arts outcomes moved online, we resisted this move for most of our projects, however after speaking with Michelle Barry and her experience of running workshops online, we decided to move our 2 days workshop in Music Production for Women, non-binary and trans folx, online. The response has been amazing, so we are now running a series of these workshops over the next few months (which are all full already). Today the first 2 day workshop has commenced with a really lovely group of people working together with the hope that as things open up, we open up to a more diverse and more musical world. 07.01.2022 This afternoon we began working with the fabulous staff and students from Narrandera High School Clontarf Academy, the NSW Department of Primary Industries Narrandera Fisheries, the National Museum of Australia and filmmaker Wes Boney. Over the next term we will be exploring art, science and ancient knowledges to collaborate on making a new artwork inspired by the rescued fish from the Menindee fish kills. We can't wait to see how our process unfolds - and what we create together!
04.01.2022 On Wednesday 4 November from 3:305pm, we will be hosting an Augmented Reality workshop led by Wiradjuri-Scottish artist and educator April Phillips. April will lead participants through a creative process to understand the AR medium and how it is applied to make experimental art. Following the workshop, April and Cheryl Penrith will discuss how AR and VR technologies intersect with Wiradjuri and Blak ways of thinking and being in the world. There are 10 places available in real life at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery and 10 places available online. Please book to secure your place!

02.01.2022 Today’s news featured Gladys Berejiklian and the Department of Primary Industries releasing 60,000 fish into the Darling river as a response to the Menindee Fish Kill event where an estimated 1 million fish died in January 2019. Following this fish kill event, the Narrandera Fisheries (Department of Primary Industries) travelled to Menindee to rescue some of the surviving (but sick) Murray Cod to bring them down to Narrandera to heal and breed. A few days ago in the lead up ...to the official release, we took part in an important cultural exchange. The Cad Factory has been working with Matt McLellan at the Narrandera Fisheries and a group of amazing Wiradjuri boys from the Clontarf Academy in Narrandera. Every week we have been tending the fish and helping to prepare them for being released in the river in Menindee. A few days ago we all travelled to Menindee and worked with local Barkindji Elders Aunty Patsy Quayle, Aunty Cheryl Blore, Aunty Barbara Quayle and local river rangers to release the fish together, acknowledging the cultural significance of this tragic event, and the coming together of cultures across two different river systems. Straight after the fish release, we filmed this video responding to what we just experienced. An astonishing journey which will continue with the making of a show in late April 2021 on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. This project is being supported by Create NSW, The National Museum of Australia, Bendigo Bank Narrandera and The Nelson Meers Foundation. https://vimeo.com/486813977
