Did you cheat and look at the photo first? Doesn't matter, Thursday Thursdays is all about finding Cairns local watering holes - we're talking pubs, craft beer makers, Kombucha bars, juice makers - anything that takes the dust out your throat. 14.01.2022 Hey there Cairns Hubbers...whilst we'll be on the lookout for local decadence offers over the coming weeks, we thought we'd also help spread the news of other businesses that are out there promoting local deals. If you haven't checked out Tourism Town yet, then you're missing out. Primarily tours and activities, you'll also find some great local offers for beauty treatments and food and wine. Here's an example. https://www.tourismtown.com/

13.01.2022 Day 7 of our 7 Days of Cairns and in honour of the businesses and weekend warriors who are are out there working to make our environment cleaner and greener, we have decided to make Sundays, Sustainable Sundays. It's about acknowledging those who are making a difference in our community from green energy practices to eco-friendly products to recycling agents. With our geographical location in the world we believe Cairns of all cities, can be leading the way in technology and day-to-day practices at both home and work. Join us in our support of these local heroes.

12.01.2022 Well no surprises on this one...There's already some great people in Cairns supporting our local food industry including pop-up food stalls and promoting events, and we want to build on that momentum. We'll be on the lookout for new venues, meal deals, foodie workshops and tasting events. Got something to share, we'd love to hear from you and help promote?

10.01.2022 Day 3 and introducing Wicked Wednesdays. Every week we'll be on the lookout to promote local businesses that offer indulgent products or services - from beauty spas to chocolate makers or anything with a touch of wickedness...in a nice way of course!

09.01.2022 Did you know that we have created a hub for Sustainability? It's for local businesses that have a focus on energy efficiencies, recycling or environmental improvements. Retailers can even list their products right on our site. So with Sustainable Sunday this week, here is one of our own to kick us off. Love the idea of reducing our dependency on plastic wrap...So check out these reusable food wraps.... https://www.thecairnshub.com.au/prod/reusable-food-wraps-51

06.01.2022 Foodie Friday and great to combine that with recognition of International Women's Day. To get involved Salt House is holding a Balance for Better event today. Balance for Better is all about creating gender balance, whether that be around pay, rights and positions on boards, in politics - everywhere.

06.01.2022 Social Saturday and well this rain doesn't look like it's nicking off in any hurry. Not to worry, here's three some activities that you can do today without getting too wet. 1. Cairns Museum. Open 10am -4pm today. Explore the region's past. I hear they are looking for volunteers as well so put your hand up whilst you're there if you'd like to be an ambassador for the city. 2. Family Movie Day. Event Cinemas at Stockland, Smithfield and Cairns Central, although you may want t...o hold off until tomorrow for the release of Lego Movie 2 3. Flame.Visual - International Women's Day Exhibition at The Tanks Edge Hill. Local emerging artist's works on display. Anyone got some other ideas to share for rainy days?

05.01.2022 The fun doesn't stop on the weekends and we all know what everyone is thinking..."Housework stinks, I want a life!". So without further adieu...We present "Social Saturdays". Are there not enough restaurants, bars and community activities to fully replace every household task you may have planned? Are you not entertained? (Cue Russell Crowe Gladiator) Be free we say. Throw the clothes under the bed, let the lawn grubs munch your lawn away and embrace* all that Cairns has to ...offer. Fine Print. *Please social responsibly. We take no responsibility for spousal disputes over domestic duties not performed in accordance with marital agreements.

05.01.2022 It's Local Meat Monday and over the coming weeks we'll we out and about to speak to as many butchers, seafood providers and other meat suppliers as we can. If you are one of those businesses or know a local butcher or supplier who is happy to be interviewed and get some free coverage for their business, then please get in touch on 07 4084 0557

05.01.2022 Thirsty Thursday and sometimes you find the best places out of the blue. Today was no exception when I found the hidden gem called "Quench" at Smithfield. Tucked away in the row of businesses near Red Rooster on Mount Millman Dve, this little place has a great atmosphere and awesome range of smoothies and juices but have a look on the shelves and you see where their main game is. Individually blended and packaged loose leaf teas, coffees and spices are available.... The saddest part of finding this place today is hearing that they will soon have to sell the business. If you think this could be a business for you, contact Wendy on 0477 665 656, or if not, get down and stock up on quality teas and spices.

04.01.2022 The not so fun side of Halloween

04.01.2022 We'll be back in a normal rotation next week, but here's our Foody Friday event out. Thumbs up for Bluewater Bar & Grill today. Food and service both excellent. Stayed in the air con for obvious reasons but didn't spoil the view. Local craft beer on tap... what more do you need? The front dish for reference is prawn and chorizo linguine which was amazing!

03.01.2022 Last Monday we introduced the concept of Local Meat Monday and here's the reasoning behind this initiative. One of the Cairns Hub's objectives is to encourage small adjustments in our spending habits so that we keep more money in our local economy to keep competition strong and a diversity of retailers. This is not an anti-supermarket initiative - they are just as important to local economies. This is a pro small business ideology that requires making conscious decisions abou...t the shape of retail and what we want it to look like. We personally don't want a future where you walk into any given town or shopping centre and see exactly the same shops everywhere. Please take the time to watch this video, share if the words resonate and get onboard in supporting our local retailers. #localmeatmonday

03.01.2022 Activate FNQ Winter Mode!

03.01.2022 Alrighty everyone, Thirsty Thursday is here and today we went to check out a new fresh Kombucha bar at Stockland. We've been hearing a lot about this product of late. I tried the home brew variety years ago with mixed opinions but today was more about trying flavoured versions. Now, I must add before any mention of the product that the guys at Scoobrew are the epitome of a local business... locally owned, locally sourced ingredients and local staff (go see Brittany) I went fo...r a Dragon Fruit flavour and I was blown away by how good it tasted. Naturally pink coloured and natural carbonation means it looks a soft drink but without the sugar and additives. The Scoobrew bar offers fresh flavours, on tap daily. So try for yourself, they are just opposite JB Hi-fi. Two thumbs up from me.

02.01.2022 It's Foodie Friday and time to get out there and enjoy all the great tastes of local businesses. Why not combine food from Tony's Pizza with a beer from one the north's best local craft brewers. Experience both at Macalister Brewing this weekend. Bon appetit!
