22.01.2022 Caledonia NSW were recently engaged by CPB to complete access and propping scopes of work on the Coffs Harbour hospital redevelopment project. Caledonia have completed all scopes of work without issue and on target. The perimeter scaffold was erected to act as edge protection for the building levels. This was also utilised for the installation of the façade panels. Caledonia have mobilised over 400 ton of scaffolding to the project and peaked at 25 men working continuously 6 days a week. This has been a challenging project and the actual prefabrication and structural installation method is the first of its kind in Australia. https://lnkd.in/ghaqhiz

20.01.2022 Caledonia NSW - Lendlease Project - New M4-M5 Link Tunnels WestConnex We have recently been awarded the New M4-M5 Link Tunnels project for Lendlease. The project is the final and most critical component of WestConnex, featuring twin tunnels between the New M4 at Haberfield and the New M5 at St Peters. Each Tunnel will be approximately 7.5 kilometres long and able to accommodate up to four lanes. Our first scope of works was to build a walkway from one side to another with a ...16m stair access into the tunnels, facilitated using two stair accesses and craneable bridge section. Not only did this save the client over 240 man hours, but also allowed continuous access to the M4-M5 Link Tunnel for other trades. The bridge landed perfect without any adjustments. Congratulations to Mick Tolley, Sean Nyugen Brad Nichol and Sam Sweetser as well as the design and engineering team for a job well done.

12.01.2022 Caledonia SA Trainee Update Meet Caledonia trainee Jaye Suggate, aged 19, from Adelaide. Heres Jayes story I applied for the traineeship with Caledonia as I wanted to get into the construction industry straight after school. I heard about Caledonias traineeship through a friend who was considering applying. I attended the open day and information session at Caledonias Lonsdale office and after that I was offered the position. My traineeship started in February 2018. ... In the beginning I spent 3 months in the yard, learning what each individual piece of scaffolding was called and what it was used for. This enabled me to sign off on Module 1, before heading out to site. Once on site, I was paired with two advanced scaffolders to learn on the job. After five months with them I was confident carrying out work on my own with supervision. My first experience was on the Sarah Construction Carmelite project, which was a large aged care facility in Glen Osmond. This was a good job to work on as it was built out of Layher, which most other companies dont use. Since Carmelite Ive worked on Glenelg Pier Bridge upgrade, Sellicks Buddha Temple, Prominent Hill Mine shutdown, Regional bridge upgrades for McConnell Dowell as well as the old Royal Adelaide Hospital re-development. My favourite project so far has been the Sellicks Buddha Temple for BMD. This is because it was such a unique project and one of the biggest Ive worked on. We had a great crew and it was a great location overlooking the beach at Sellicks. Caledonia is one of the largest scaffolding companies you can work for, covering all different types on industries, using different scaffolding systems. The traineeship is important as you are an investment in the future of Caledonia. They provide you with your basic and intermediate scaffolding tickets and put you through other licences such as forklift, EWP, dogman and working at heights, ending up with a Cert III in scaffolding. I hope to end up as an advanced scaffolder for Caledonia. Id recommend the traineeship to anyone who is interested in getting into the scaffolding or construction industry. Little experience shouldnt hold you back as Caledonia will provide all the knowledge and licences you need to succeed.

11.01.2022 Caledonia Group Design Innovation - VR Technology As part of our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, Caledonia Group have recently invested in the use of VR technology to further enhance our design and engineering capabilities. The use of VR technology enables clients to walk the design in real time to inspect its viability prior to construction. A full menu of options is available within the VR Prospect software to enable full interaction with the model.... A major benefit of this technology is that the client and designer can work together, making live amendments to a design, even when located in different locations; adding to the overall efficiency of the process. The use of 3D animations and VR technology positions Caledonia as an industry leader in this field and further enhances our overall suite of integrated services offered to our clients. https://youtu.be/vygvgTM7FrQ

Caledonias High Priority Goal No1 is that We will foster and grow a positive safety and quality culture. To assist with re-enforcing this message to our staff, Caledonia has launched a Working At Heights Campaign across its entire business. The theme of the campaign is Think Smart Before You Start...! where our employees must ask themselves if they have considered the following before they undertake a specific job or task: Have I received adequate training, information and supervision? Have I completed a risk assessment and considered how I am going to undertake the task safely? Am I using the correct equipment? Is my equipment in good working order and have I inspected it before use? Do I have safe and secure access to the work area? Are the weather conditions safe to work at heights? Do I require a working at height permit? Is a rescue plan in place? A series of posters have been developed to drive home this message and these have been distributed to local and remote sites across Australia and New Zealand. The campaign is also being delivered via our pre-starts, toolboxes and internal newsletter to ensure the message reaches each and every individual within the organisation.
