23.01.2022 Another student week!! Can’t ask for a more beautiful morning for students to be learning to become dog trainers! Here’s just a few happy snaps of our students this block with their project dogs. Students go through two blocks of practical training for hands-on experience, and for this block they are assigned a dog to work with throughout and teach a more complex skill, like a dumbbell retrieve or a light press. 14.01.2022 Incorporating PLACE training in to classes this weekend across the Centres. This livestream was from our Kawana Training Centre which operates on Saturday afternoon. Place training can help anchor your dog in position and reduce the risk of them breaking, as you increase your duration and distance control.... The goal is then to transition to the same duration and distance without the need to be anchored at your dogs place. We consider the place to be a formal working skill as opposed to something more relaxed in the home like, on your bed. So, place incorporates a position that must be sustained such as sit or drop (most of our Trainers use the drop) whilst on your bed can be whatever the dog wants (eg. On their side, back). 11.01.2022 Dear Members I am taking the unprecedented step to cancel training this afternoon at KAWANA TC. The forecast for this afternoons Thunderstorm activity is becoming quite concerning and as such, I believe it is in the best interest for both my staff and you guys and your dogs, to stay home and ride the potential storms out.... I e just watched a FB LIVE feed by Higgins Storm Chasing and they are suggesting the storm cells that are building can become VERY SEVERE. I fact he went so far as to say he’s NEVER seen to storm charts like what he’s currently viewing. Of course weather is unpredictable so it’s difficult to predict with accuracy but the BOM has also upgraded their Storm warning for SEQLD (see attached). As you know we train: rain, hail or shine however the predictions are for SEVERE, so I’m going to call training off. Please share this amongst any other members that you are family or friends with. Sorry for the inconvenience however I feel this is the right thing to do. Cheers Dave Training Director
