10.01.2022 TECH TALK: A very common question we're asked by new customers is, "What accessories do I need?" You can option your caravan any way you want, but our recommendation will always be safety - yours and the safety of those around you - comes first. A key after-market accessory for safe towing is a professionally fitted weight distribution hitch. When you hook your van up to your car, do both vehicles dip downwards at the hitch? Are the wheel arches above your front car tyres s...itting higher than your rear tyres? When the weight of your caravan pulls your towing vehicle downwards at the rear, it can cause unnerving trailer sway, light steering, reduced braking responsiveness, less traction and misaligned headlamps. A weight distribution hitch includes a tongue and adjustable hitch for your car and a-frame brackets and sway bars for your caravan. When fitted properly, the hitch redistributes the weight of the caravan evenly across all of your axles. Your car will be carrying your caravan along instead of dragging it behind. Weight distribution hitches come in a variety of sizes and styles and it is important to purchase the right hitch for your needs. Check out these before and after photographs from our yard. Our customer came to hitch up their new van and opted for a Hayman Reese weight distribution system, which we measured up and fitted for them at collection.
