13.01.2022 It has been a long journey, but well worth the wait. This was a commission for a headstone with a nordic inspired theme. The image is a representation of Odin (...Thor's Dad) and his two raven companions Hugin and Munin. The hand carved name has been blurred out to maintain privacy. Some of you may remember seeing this piece on my page. I am reposting it now so it can be seen in its final location and in context with the other beautiful carvings around it. This cemetery is located in Hobart Tasmania. I am honoured that my work can take it's place amongst the excellent craftsmanship of days gone by.

13.01.2022 Over the past few weeks I have been working on a 'Top Secret' project for Nidaros Domkirkes Restaureringsarbeider and the upcoming Sommer i Borggården Festivale...n in Trondheim, Norway. Anyone that knows me knows that I have connection with Norway and an obsession with details. What you see here are the elements that go together to make the detailed illustration. Elements that can be moved around and adapted as needed. It's all in the details and I couldn't have done it without the long distance help of Tone Kristin Harbakk. Whilst Iwas obsessing over details in buildings I also turned to Eden Wilson to create the whimsical people to populate the little isometric world that I'd made. Thanks must also go to my ever patient and supportive family and to the The Creator Incubator for giving me space to dream. See more

13.01.2022 I keep imagining that one day I will make a living from arthopefully it will be before I look like this.

12.01.2022 Today I started carving my piece for The Backyard Stonecarving Festival. It’s being going for two days, but this is the first chance I had to get to it. I’ve used Silky Oak leaves as my inspiration. More work tomorrow to finish this beast.

04.01.2022 Memories of the shop

03.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that came along to Biltur at The Creator Incubator last night. Special thanks must go to Jane for all her help and support. Special thanks... also to Chris and Trude Pennock for taking time out of the holiday to be put to work at the exhibition. The show was a wonderful success and it was in no small part to their physical and emotional support. It meant the world to me to have a connection from Trondheim and the Nidaros workshop there on the night. How else would I be expected to do a poorly executed Irish dance than to be accompanied by Chris Pennock on his whistle. See more

03.01.2022 Well here we are after two days of carving. It’s definitely not finished to the standard I would want, but it’s as far as I could get in the time available. I w...ill continue next weekend with some more refinement. It was strange being part of a ‘festival’ with just myself for company. I definitely missed the interaction with other carvers and the general public. Stillit was a good challenge. Ended up having a beer by myself in the driveway, shared a virtual cheers with David Lamb and Craig Dawson, then Jane came out and shared a beer with me. All in all a worthwhile experience...even if it was mentally as physically exhausting. See more

03.01.2022 The Carved Greenman has been busy painting. When I’m not painting I like to carve wood. When I’m not carving wood I like to carve stone. When I’m not carving stone I like to work on the computer making detailed illustrations

02.01.2022 It's that time of the year when the Santa hatted green man from Salisbury Cathedral puts in his annual appearance on our blog! Wishing all members and followers... of The Company of the Green Man a Very Merry Yule. My thanks to everyone for all the contributions and support during 2019. The next newsletter is being lovingly crafted and will hopefully be with you some time over the festive period. http://thecompanyofthegreenman.com///yuletide-greetings-5/ See more

02.01.2022 I don’t get to have a Christmas window anymore. Here’s one from a while back.

01.01.2022 I am very honoured to have my stone carving installed in the benches in Trondheim Marketplace. My work ‘Hide and Seek’ was one of ten chosen to be permanently installed in the centre of the city. Photos by Espen Sørburø
