24.01.2022 A message on Reconciliation written by LaVonne Bobongie from our friends at Cre8tive Nations; Reconciliation Week is a week of celebration and sorrow. A time to honour and remember those Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders whove paved the way for their community and work towards a better tomorrow so we can look forward with hope for those who will come after us. May 26 being National Sorry Day, May 27 the Anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and the week ending with Mabo Da...y on June 3, its a big week. This week brings up a lot of emotions for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their families. Its important we check in with them and also decide if we want to be an ally and what that really looks like. By looking at ourselves and our actions, our thoughts and what we allow to happen around us. The conversations we have, the spaces we occupy and how we can make room for those who whose voices are silenced or ignored. To reconcile means to come back together, that means both sides need to move towards each other. If everyone looks at what theyre personally doing to move closer together we can start having the conversations and listening and hopefully we can move forward together.

We are very happy to be welcoming all young people back for the remainder of Term 2. Some exciting news we are introducing a new process to assist with information regarding attendance. This should see you receive a text message if your young person is not at school. If your young person is late then you may still r...eceive a message of absence. If you reply to this message with an explanation, then we will adjust the roll accordingly. Should your young person be absent, please provide a reason as we aim to have no unexplained absences. 13.01.2022 Young people from The Centre Education Programme have been helping their local community via a school project known as Furniture For Change. The challenge was to build furniture for families in need from flatpacks with funding supplied by Greenbank RSL through their Community Benefit Foundation. The grant provided $2500 for purchasing flatpacks and tools. The young people have built over 70 pieces of furniture to donate to families through organisations such as Salvation Army and Department of Child Safety. The project has tied into their Vocational Training at The Centre Education Programme. Thanks to Greenbank RSL for their fantastic support of this initiative to assist our young people to give back to their local community.
