22.01.2022 The magpies are nesting - now feeding young ones. They have nested here for years without a problem. This year they have started swooping people and I suspect that a camper has thrown something at the male. If you come to camp, please accept that the magpie was here first and is only defending his babies. Wear a hat to protect your head, and camp at the road end of the campground (furthest from the nest).
16.01.2022 Kids like this make a huge difference
15.01.2022 The campground will be closed for all of July. Apart from the water issue we have some health issues that we have to deal with.
14.01.2022 The campground is open again now. And one of the koalas is still here. It is a lot better off than most of the koalas in NSW right now. This pic shows the koala that is here now but it was taken some time ago when we had non-smoky skies.
12.01.2022 I have not handled a koala but the way a koala can climb up a smooth-barked tree makes me realise how strong their arms must be and how sharp their claws. Probably best admired from afar.
10.01.2022 With dense bushfire smoke blanketing the western sky I photographed these three koalas silhouetted against the setting sun. They tend to be solitary animals and it is very unusual to have more than one koala in a tree.
08.01.2022 For anyone thinking of camping here for The Channon Market next Sunday.... it had been cancelled due to rain. Ah well, at least we are out of drought for the time being.
08.01.2022 The campground is closed because of the fire emergency in the Nightcap Range. Fires are now burning southward down the ridges towards The Channon. The village is not threatened at present but may become so. The National Parks are all closed.
08.01.2022 The campground is open again now, all the plumbing problems fixed (human and otherwise). Plenty of koalas, some of them demonstrating how to relax like this.
07.01.2022 Some of our lovely campers have left a donation for the koalas who have been burnt in recent fires. $5 of it came from 9yo Clara's pocket money. It will go to Friends of the Koala Inc. in Lismore.
07.01.2022 I was able to photograph the red tag in her right ear to identify this female. This is D'vine back again and possibly with a joey in her pouch. I will post a photo if I see her baby. Her male joey from last year, Drama, is still hanging round and is a couple of trees away today.
