We want to thank all of our wonderful customers, staff, friends and family who have supported and worked hard through the past 8 years. Despite The Cheese Barrel closing, our beautiful venue that many of you enjoyed eating cheese and sipping a glass of Olive Farm Wines with friends and family at, is not going anywhere. They say, when one door closes another one opens, but for now we are t...aking a deep breath to spend time with our family and consider what we want the future to look like. Our Fontina was crowned Champion at the Australian Grand Dairy Awards last night. It is made with raw milk in the style of the Northern Italian classic. It has an aromatic, slightly pungent, reddish-yellow rind and a smooth, supple straw- yellow paste dotted with small round holes. The paste h...as a rich buttery flavour with a delicate nuttiness, that is balanced by subtle hints of green grass, earthy cellars, and sweet summer fruits. 04.01.2022 REPOST | Did you know that you can get our cheese boards for Take Away as well! Perfect for enjoying cheese in the comfort of your own home or on a picnic! Its tea time and we decided to pick up some local delights before heading to Woolsworth for a quick grocery run for dinner. While Mum and Dad were busy prepping in the kitchen of our airbnb, N just couldnt contain her excitement and Mum eventually gave in to opening up the platter for her to experience her first taste of... local artisanal cheese from Australia. And her verdict??? YUMS!!! Though she eventually got distracted by the delicious accompaniments (check out her dont-distract-me face while she spread some jam on the crackers ) But in all seriousness, it is a resounding TWO THUMBS UP for these amazing artisanal cheese from Mum and Dad. (Especially Mum whos a big fan of cheese) On a side note, if you intend to dine in with young ones in tow, youll be pleased to know that they have a nice sand pit and a huge lawn to keep them busy all afternoon. FUN FACT: The Cheese Barrel also houses Swan Valley's largest selection of local & international cheeses. Another reason why you should pay them a visit if youre around the region.
