23.01.2022 A couple of small jobs fitted in between the bigger ones... Set of rabbit ears in stainless for Henry; ready to weld, Slots in the points plate in Crowys Panhead distributor too short and I suspect from a shovel. Milled an extra 8mm using a rotary table on the mill. Second pic shows how it had to be mounted to be central; an ally mount machined up on lathe. Mounting jobs in the mill can often take longer than the actual job.

22.01.2022 Shovel with traditional rake and 6" over Attitude springer that he says displays perfect manners at very high velocities. Story of the build here...

21.01.2022 Did this virus have to be released to prevent the mass anti government protests happening all over Europe, Hong Kong etc! Just asking.

21.01.2022 Finally got my new computer and networking set up for me and some time to load some photos of what we have been up to in the workshop... and new computer doesnt take my SSD card... has to be a small one... so youll have to wait... a real pain because I just bought a new card!

20.01.2022 VTX1300 stripped and rake job almost done. A helpful thread for anyone wanting to rake their big Jap cruisers. http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

19.01.2022 Picked up by owner a couple of weeks back. VTX1300 . Needs moulding of tank and paint which owner will do. 14" over HD narrow glide front end, raked HD bearing cups in HD steering head, forwards, highly modified frisco mounted yamaha tank etc etc One of two projects that unfortunately were way overdue to our family and assorted issues. ... Owner wanted it as long as possible but with ability to conform to 550RidikulusRool if need be.

18.01.2022 Michael's tank stripped and front of tunnel filled. Ready for Michael tomorrow... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

17.01.2022 Things happening at TCS. New battery for Rob's Iron Head Sporty, oil in the tank and she is ready to fire up. Should be happening tomorrow. Biscuit's VN1500 trike finished. We were waiting on a new electronics box and for the owner to get through a pile of family and health stuff. Trike currently has a 6" over stock front end, but once through regio we will build a heavy duty springer for it. 45 degree rake has gotten rid of the steering shudders it originally had, but ...too much trail making it hard to corner. This can only really be fixed with a springer or raked triple trees. Biscuit is keen on the springer so we will go with that. We are waiting til after regio, because govt rules on C of G mean moving axle forwards to reduce trail and give us a much safer trike will not pass. Such are Government rulings!!! Garry's Twin Cam chromed handle bar controls, engine mounts and a new rear belt have finally arrived. Just waiting on painting to be finished, plus this week I will polish front and rear calipers. Jason will bring up some gear to give the motor a good clean and then all will be ready to go together. Michael's XVS650 is on the raking rack ready for him to start stripping it on Saturday. Next week Luke will be able to bring up his Iron head for a major rake and springer build. That bike will go on a separate stand as we have to narrow the excessively wide rear end for a standard width (5 x 16) rear tyre. I also need someone reliable a few days a week to help out long term. Needs to be teachable and have a feel for metal working and of course be keen on choppers.

17.01.2022 I hate computers!!!! Give me an angle grinder any day! Anyway, after much frustration with this program, heres a short clip of our current work area. VTX will be stripped ready for a rake job next week. Lionel is completely stripping Garrys Twin Cam ready to jig the motor and build a completely new frame. Meatballs Springer at begining goes on Garrys bike. Blue chopper is Peter Bs and getting a rebuilt steering head area. Should be finished Monday. Had todays work ready to load and server refuses to load files; maybe tomorrow.

17.01.2022 Jasons RevTech chopper and Pauls chopper prior to Jasons rebuild...

17.01.2022 Finally back in the workshop Monday and now will be flat out on waiting jobs. Been a rough couple of months with a virtually invalided wife... and a mother hovering over death, daily visits to feed mum, then her picking up enough to be required to go into care (and what a task that was!). Workman has been off for a couple of weeks with a bad back during this time plus rush to stock up on materials and stock due to the viral hoax... and a number of other set backs I wont... bore you with. Stuck with 4 wheels atm as a new battery set up needs to made for my shovel... but that will have to wait a while as well. Missing the local rides though as it is my work and shopping machine. So, my apologies to customers waiting. Some smaller jobs promised over the next couple of months will have to wait until three current projects are completed.

16.01.2022 Update on getting Crowys panhead through regio. Soon to come; new exhausts, remote filter etc... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

15.01.2022 Paul found a camera lead for me so heres a couple of updates. Over the last couple of months weve done quite a few small jobs for customers but three ongoing projects as follows; 1. We got Crowies Panhead through regio after a big kaffuffle over lack of frame numbers... HD didnt use them till 1970. Then weve built new pipes, added a remote oil filter and remounted the seat, plus other little jobs previously mentioned. 2. VTX1300 Bobbed rear end, raked front end (as l...ong as you can!). Managed to machine an HD compatible steering head to fit inside the Honda one and then used an 8" over narrow glide with 4" slugs. Raked cups allow it to be brought back within the Ridukulus Rool. Forwards using some of his original parts are very tidy. Still to finish is fuel tank, a yammie tank that Ive gutted and final wiring hookup. Should be onto this in a week. 3. Garrys 2002 rubber mounted Twin Cam. Complete new frame took some nutting out to get it to work and yet look really good. Very pleased with the result so far and at moment setting up electrics in a sleek box. Springer is 2" over Meatballs, given the chopper 37.5 degrees rake which provide 5.5" of trail. Neck is stretched forwards 5". See more

15.01.2022 Some more on the Twin Cam build. Posts taking their time. Sorry but well get there... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

14.01.2022 Got out on my Diamond CB (which is for sale, reg to October) today to go to an appointment in the city plus a few workshop jobs. Perfect day for it. Sleeping bag above the headlight is poor mans fairing and keeps the wind off my face. First time Ive ridden since surgery as the helmet presses on an unhealed spot, but got away with it today. Until I can put a new starter motor in the shovel looks like Ill be having fun on the 4. Not so easy to filter though; forwards so wide and not folding. Clipped the front guard of a car today, first time I tried filtering down Marion Rd... extra careful rest of the time!

14.01.2022 Some visitors at TCS today.... Cliff to raise his 750 HD (flat) handlebars, Wayne and Terry to just drop by and check out the latest here and find a possible electrics box. Missed taking pics of these two shady characters, but got a during and after of the bar change. One of my 8" TCS stainless ape hangers did the trick. Took some mucking around to get sufficient cable and hose length, but made it. Big thanks for help from Crowy who also showed up. Took a bit (lot) longer due to a few surprises. So if you are the proud owner of one of these cool machines, you can get another eight inches with out having to cut anything...

13.01.2022 Another half day on Peters chopper. 550RR achieved with minimum change and steering head area being majorly strengthened. Should be completed on Monday... info and pics here... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

12.01.2022 W ANTED... HD front hubs, single disc preferably. Message or call 0428 562 554

11.01.2022 Built frame, electrics box, pipes, forwards and seat etc for him years ago... still looking good

11.01.2022 Peter came up today to put some new clutch plates in his iron head sporty because when the clutch was slipped we had a lot of vibration. Noticed when he took of primary cover that virtually no oil (oil for gearbox as well). I assumed that previous owner had not kept it filled (Peter has not had it long). Everything back together, filled oil to correct level... and went to reinsert level plug; stripped... so a recoil thread and new fibre washer there. He also wanted his s...ide stand spring shortened, so we leant the bike over to the right... and a big puddle of oil quickly forming! Close inspection (removal of sprocket cover... and exhausts of course!) and there it is. Some clever fellow had welded up a bolt hole in the cover leaving an open threaded hole in the gearbox casing. So we drilled and counter bored the cover, added a new bolt with the thread covered with silastic and no more leaks. Bike has been running without gearbox oil for a long time! Why gearbox has not seized is beyond me, but must be a lot of wear. By this time it was 8.30pm and time to quit and Peter took off on a smoother (though still not perfect) bike. Sidestand next time! A lesson to be learned... when buying a second hand bike, don't assume the previous owner (owners) had any knowledge of or took any care of the bike. Check everything.

10.01.2022 Mounting a brake caliper to a Meatballs springer... Over the next week, I will finish writing up the fabrication of Garry's Twin Cam chopper. Chrome is done and just waiting on painted parts. Tonight wrote up mounting the front brake caliper...

09.01.2022 A little bit more on the twin cam build put up tonight. A much bigger post to come on building the electrics compartment and battery box... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

08.01.2022 A couple of video clips on using a carburising flame to make smoke patterns. Was a bit breezy which made it difficult. First is on my shovel tank. Second is on an old Honda tank using a match. In both cases smoking works best with the tank directly above the flame (Honda tank) rather than to the side as on the shovel. Oval picture on oil tank is simply blacked in and then using a match to draw a picture... Lets see some one do some really good examples for us to enjoy...

08.01.2022 More done on Michael's XV tank and carby intake... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

05.01.2022 Surprise visitor to day. Rayne dropped by for half an hour on his way home from work... S&S Panhead with Meatballs springer... built with a little help from his friends...

05.01.2022 Heres a bit more on the Twin Cam... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

05.01.2022 Some more posts of Garrys Twin Cam chopper build, Still a lot of posts to do, but with this last post it is on its wheels.... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

04.01.2022 Twin Cam build finish is getting closer... seat has been covered and frame is partly moulded. Dropped by Jasons the other night to do a check on seat fitting. Its a close fit and we needed to modify the moulding slightly to get it right. Will do another check before paint just to be sure. Also had to make sure seat back mount on sissy bar is correct now that covering is on... have to raise it 3mm. Removable front brackets will also need some spacers under them due to... the way the covering is attached underneath. Crowy came down for the ride and Henry rolled up to collect a job Id done for his shovel chopper. Jason pulled out his new springer waiting for some time and money to set it up on his S&S chop. Was a great time and part of choppers are all about... enthusiastic jocks getting together around their choppers.

03.01.2022 Post done on mounting the Twin Cams tailight and number plate... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

03.01.2022 Springer is working brilliantly, but have been running without a front guard and not keen to attract a ticket, so took a couple of days off to set up my guard. Interestingly although the mudguard stays are only 5/16 stainless round bar, they remove most of the flex from the rear legs. I was initially concerned the legs might flex because their wall thickness is under 3mm... and I was right, though only noticeable at very low speed manoeuvring... but hardly noticeable now.

03.01.2022 Twin Cam seat mounting completed and padding finished. Ready for upholsterer...

03.01.2022 Tank mounting of the Twin Cam posted here... http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

03.01.2022 Two of our more radical current projects... Shovel with 53 degree rake (can be pulled back to 39 degrees) and Iron Head Sporty also fairly long, but rake can also be pulled back to legal...

03.01.2022 Back into the workshop this week, though some small jobs have been done during my time off. Engineer here tomorrow to see Garrys Twin Cam which requires a totally new frame. First main job however is the VTX 1300 which is getting a new raked front end.

03.01.2022 Bike work temporarily suspended due to mums rapidly deteriorated condition. My apologies to Rick and Garry. Having to get things sorted ready for a funeral on site. Got some more work done on both the twin cam and vtx last week, but may now be a flat out week on other things... including going into the woodwork business, building her coffin. She wants it purple and has asked to be transported to the local cemetery in the back of Victors hotrod truck in which she has previously enjoyed a ride and thought it was very cool. Will be back on the bikes asap.

01.01.2022 Finally writing up Garrys Twin Cam build. I go into detail on the whys and wherefores to help you plan and build your own choppers. This post on setting up the motor on the jig with explanations on rake trail steering head position etc http://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php

01.01.2022 Fired up Rob's Iron Head sporty this arvo. A few jobs to do, but very nice to ride and easy to handle.
