22.01.2022 EXHIBITION: ART WORD PLACE Yesterday at The Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery we officially opened the exhibition ART WORD PLACE. This exhibition focuses on the interplay between text and image and was coordinated by Caroline Downer, Executive Director, Arts North West. ... Eighteen writers from the Arts North West region have been commissioned to create a short poem based on their home landscape. Selected artists have then drawn on this composition as the basis and inspiration of a new work capturing the identity and sense of place of the New England North West. There are recurring themes of rivers, plains and sky, of drought, of adversity but also of optimism. 03.01.2022 Service Update: Civic Cinema Closed for Repairs The Civic Cinema has been closed temporarily following the malfunction of a fire panel. Screenings from Thursday, 28 January to Sunday, 31 January have been cancelled while a replacement panel is sought and installed.... Tickets purchased online for these dates will be automatically refunded and returned to accounts within 3-5 days. Anyone who purchased tickets over the counter can attend the Civic between 10am 5pm on Thursday, 28 January and Friday, 29 January to obtain a refund. Updates on the replacement, including any change of dates around the closure will be posted on the Gunnedah Shire Council website. For further queries regarding ticketing please contact (02) 6742 0633. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused to cinema patrons. The safety of patrons and employees is our absolute priority and we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
