25.01.2022 There is just one week to go to add your signature to the Australian Parents for Climate Action campaign to #SolarOurSchools. Solar our Schools is the perfect way to: 1. Create thousands of jobs in renewables right across the country including many regional and rural jobs;... 2. Save schools and early childhood centres huge amounts of money from power bills to put towards learning resources and teaching staff; and 3. Cut Australia's carbon emissions by millions of tonnes per year. To add your support, visit their website: https://www.ap4ca.org/joinsolarourschools Pictured is Maroubra Bay Public School in NSW, which installed a 36kW solar system in 2018, with expected savings of $6,900 per year on energy consumed by the school -- a 47% cut in their energy bills. Thats 38 tonnes per year of greenhouse emissions saved. And the solar energy generated is enough to power 218 computers for a whole year! Source: Solar My School. Of course we recommend that schools use our Schools App too, to reduce their emissions even further!

25.01.2022 Today we have some more great news to share with you, as we welcome yet more schools into the ClimateClever community. You might remember that we offered 50 schools the chance to obtain a year's free subscription to our Schools App, as part of our appearance in #FightForPlanetA? That was thanks to the support of some very generous philanthropists, who wanted to help us spread the word about how schools can tackle carbon emissions and reduce their utility bills.... Today it gives us great pleasure to announce that these new schools will receive a prepaid Schools App! Parap Primary School - Working Together (NT) Torrensville Primary School (SA) Boat Harbour Primary School (TAS) Abergowrie State School (QLD) Whitfield District Primary School (VIC) Rosamond Special School (VIC) Como Public School (NSW) Denman Public School (NSW) Warners Bay High School (NSW) That brings the total number of Fight For Planet A schools to 36, so we still have 14 more to announce, which we'll do over the next few weeks. It also means that we now have schools using the ClimateClever Schools App in every state and territory, which is so fantastic! To find out more about our Schools App, please visit our website: https://www.climateclever.org/schools/

You can find eligibility details and apply on our website: www.climateclever.org

23.01.2022 The final episode of Fight for Planet A is on tonight, and Craig will reveal how much carbon and $$$ Oatlands Public School has saved using our Schools App. Will you be watching at 8.30pm to find out? We will!!... Give us your best guess (as a percentage saving off their regular bills) about how much they've been able to reduce their carbon emissions by, as a result of making changes to utility use and habits around the school? #FightforPlanetA

23.01.2022 As Coronavirus support supplements shrink and unemployment levels rise, it’s never been more important to keep utility bills down. Don't let the WA Government's $600 electricity bill stimulus stop you from taking action! By being more efficient with your appliances and habits, you can make that windfall go a lot further... Our new BillBuddy App - a Lotterywest supported project - is designed to support people experiencing financial hardship to reduce their utility bills. ... The app is free for households supported by our wonderful community service NFP partners: Rise Network Uniting WA MercyCare Community Housing Limited anglicarewa and Access Housing. 23.01.2022 Did you hear about the launch of WA Social Enterprise Council, which is co-chaired by our founder and CEO? WASEC aims to build a new economy that places community, employee and environmental impact outcomes on an equal footing with sustainable financial returns. It will advocate for and work with new social enterprises and existing WA businesses that want to transform to fulfil its vision of establishing a thriving, collaborative social enterprise sector in this state.... Dr Vanessa Rauland said: We need greater business model innovation in WA. Many NFPs need to become more financially sustainable, while For-Profit companies need to better understand the enormous benefits of integrating social and environmental outcomes into their traditional business models. "This is not token CSR. This is a new way of operating," she added. "We need a system to recognise and support these business models and the growing number of high impact social enterprises. WASEC is committed to helping build this ecosystem." Vanessa is excited to be working with Pat Ryan of Dismantle as co-chair; Sven Stenvers from Impact Seed; Ben Cole of Wide Open Agriculture; Amanda Healy of Kirrikin; and Katie Liew of The Underground Collaborative. #sustainability

22.01.2022 A little message from our CEO about our #FightForPlanetA

21.01.2022 Today marks the start of National Science Week! Every year, over a million people across Australia take part in celebrating science and technology. Head over to the National Science Week website to see what events are happening near you! The theme this year is Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans. We are already seeing the dramatic effects that a warming planet is having on the oceans. That's why it is more important than ever that we strive to develop inno...vative solutions, while recognising and celebrating the wonderful work that is being done to address climate change. We thought that this Guardian article, which examines the effect of heating oceans on marine food webs was particularly interesting!

20.01.2022 We have another incredible announcement to share with you today. After almost a year of meetings, co-design workshops and user feedback sessions with our NFP partners and their clients - and a HUGE effort by our software engineering team (), we are THRILLED to launch our newest app #BillBuddy this week! BillBuddy was the brainchild of Justine Colyer, who approached our founder Dr Vanessa Rauland, after she pitched at Impact Seed Annual Pitch night in 2018. ... After Justine discussed the idea with her NFP colleagues, we applied successfully for funding from Lotterywest to adapt our ClimateClever Schools app, to create a specific Home version for low-income households and those in financial hardship. We are super excited to kick off our 12-month pilot and are so GRATEFUL to our amazing partners for this exciting opportunity - Rise Network, MercyCare, Uniting WA, Community Housing Limited, Access Housing Australia Ltd, and Anglicare WA (Financial Counsellors Network) with generous support from Lotterywest. And to top it all off - last night we made the Channel 10 news in Perth! Woot woot!

19.01.2022 We recently signed our first Business Partner, and we are so pleased to welcome Bourke and Bouteloup Architects to the ClimateClever Initiative. We reached out to architects earlier this year - when more than 900 Australian practices pledged to make their businesses Carbon Neutral in 2020 - under the banner of Architects Declare Au. Our App was included in their Guide to going carbon neutral, which we are incredibly grateful for, and we hope that Bourke and Bouteloup Archit...ects will be the first of many architects to join us. Architects play a significant role in tackling climate change, because the built environment currently accounts for about 40% of greenhouse gas emissions. So we applaud them for taking meaningful action in their own businesses, and then with their clients. Ahead of the launch of our Business App - which is in development and will be released later this year - we've set out a roadmap for Businesses to get on board, including an audit by one of our trusted consultants, with that data transferred into the Business App when it's ready. If you'd like to find out more about our carbon footprint tools for Businesses, please visit our website: https://www.climateclever.org/business

18.01.2022 Look at those mics! Dr Vanessa Rauland and Alexander Karan - our co-founders - spoke with Charlie Gunningham and Kali Norman from the exciting podcast Startup West today! Keep and eye out for their episode and check out all the other startups here: apple.co/3ilfeMX

18.01.2022 We've partnered with Curtin University!

18.01.2022 Remember when we were featured on #FightForPlanetA in August? And we had 50 Schools Apps to give away, thanks to some very generous philanthropists? Today we're pleased to announce the final two schools to join ClimateClever as part of that initiative.... They are: Hastings Secondary College (NSW) and Tarneit Senior College (VIC). We are super excited to see what all of these new school communities can achieve using our Apps, to help them measure, audit and reduce their bills and carbon footprint. As an aside, did you know that the summer holiday shutdown is one of the best times to save money and carbon at schools? By taking some simple "switch off" actions, it's possible to save thousands of dollars while the school isn't occupied - as Oatlands Public School did in Fight for Planet A. If you would like to join ClimateClever to reap some of these savings, please visit our website to find out more about our Apps. https://www.climateclever.org/schools And remember, schools in our LGA Partner areas get 50% off (so ask your council, city or shire to join if they haven't already!).

16.01.2022 DR Vanessa Rauland (CEO) and Alexander Karan (CTO) talk about the latest developments at ClimateClever; both in our Apps and across our growing community.

16.01.2022 On Wednesday, our Founder and CEO Vanessa chatted to Warren Davies, Vanessa Toholka and Laura Summers on Triple R's Byte Into IT!! They talked about ClimateClever's roots, our three platforms (Schools, Homes and Business) and opportunities for councils to support their communities through our Partnership Program. Check it out below (Vanessa comes on from 19 minutes in)!

15.01.2022 Do you remember Kim Gould from #FightforPlanetA? She's the Principal at Oatlands Public School, which saved more than 30% off their carbon and utility bills using our Schools App! We caught up with Kim recently to hear about their latest results, and she shares some great tips for other schools just starting out on their carbon footprint journey too. You can watch the full 6-minute video here: https://business.facebook.com/TheClimateCleverInitiative/videos/535503003908501/

15.01.2022 We are so pleased to have the South Australian Government join us as a Partner. That means that ALL schools in SA can buy our Schools App for 50% off! And the first 15 to sign up will get $500 to put towards their action plan.... Some of our schools have saved more than 30% on their bills and carbon emissions just months after starting to use our App, so this new Partnership has the potential to create some great savings across the state. Way to show leadership South Australia!

14.01.2022 You know how we love engaging kids around science and climate change, right? We've done it for years through our Schools App, and now we're so pleased to be part of a new Scitech exhibition here in Perth. It's called Earth Matters: Rethink the Future and it was officially opened last week by Dave Kelly MP, Minister for Science. The exhibition explores how STEM skills, technology and the innovation process can work together to find creative solutions for complex problems.... Our ClimateClever apps feature in Zone 4 - Re-imagine - and there's a film with our founder and CEO Vaness Rauland, talking about her science journey and the development of our carbon counting tools (as you can see in the behind-the-scenes photo!). There are loads of interactive and inspiring activities in the exhibition for kids of all ages, making it a great destination for the school holidays and excursions. If you're in Perth and WA and you can experience it for yourself, be sure to let us know what you think!

13.01.2022 How great are these drawings from Oatlands Public School? They are from #FightforPlanetA, showing how they used our Schools app to measure, audit and take action on carbon emissions. In just four months, they reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by a whopping 31%, saving $5,000 on bills.... And that result was purely from behaviour changes - switching off lights, appliances and AC units; composting food waste; installing rainwater tanks and being a lot more mindful about their consumption and use. An excellent example of leadership by the Oatland's student Climate Council. Is your school ready to take action on the climate challenge? There is still time to apply for our 50 prepaid Schools Apps - thanks to our generous philanthropists - so visit our website for all the details: www.climateclever.org

07.01.2022 Our CEO, Dr Vanessa Rauland, was honoured to be invited to speak at the Launch of Clean State's Jobs Plan this week by CCWA. Their newest report has 25 big ideas for how to reset the economy post covid to create 200,000 clean jobs. Vanessa provided input into the Bright Sparks - a solar powered schools program. As a big advocate for solar in schools, she thinks it's a no brainer. ALL schools in WA (and Australia!) should be powered by solar energy. Schools have a perfect so...lar profile, large roof space, and can also provide decentralised renewable energy for our communities when they are not in use. This saves schools precious money, reduces a significant amount of carbon emissions and, used in conjunction with a program like ClimateClever which collects and analyses school sustainability data, enables schools to begin to use their buildings and infrastructure as a living laboratory to teach STEM and sustainability. Win, win, win. Now, let's get it done! Photo Credit: Miles Noel Photography

03.01.2022 Last week WA's Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery launched a new Solar Schools Program at Port Hedland Primary School. We love the idea of schools installing solar panels - our CEO Dr Vanessa Rauland has long advocated for this and recently contributed to the Bright Sparks plan to do just that, as part of the Clean State Jobs Plan. This new $5m pilot program - to be delivered by the Department of Education and Horizon Power - will provide rooftop solar systems to 30 ...regional public schools throughout Western Australia. That'll create about 12 new full-time jobs across regional WA, during the 18-month construction period, and facilitate two new Aboriginal electrical apprenticeships, both of which are great outcomes, not to mention all that new renewable power in our schools! Of course, we totally think that solar panels on schools should be combined with super-saver energy efficiency measures, and that's where our proven ClimateClever Schools App comes in. The app helps schools measure, audit and take action to reduce their carbon emissions and utility bills, using online tools and a range of curriculum resources that help kids of all ages to be part of these important solutions. We hope that some of the 30 new solar schools will join our growing ClimateClever community, so they can reduce their carbon footprint even more! 02.01.2022 It's been a busy week for out founder Dr Vanessa Rauland! On Thursday Vanessa spoke at the Western Australian Education Corporate Services Staff Association (WAECSSA) conference. It's great that School Business/Corporate Services staff can see the benefits of reducing consumption of resources in schools, which ultimately reduces utility costs! This means that savings can be redirected to more important things within the school, like learning resources for students!

02.01.2022 Did you see the series final of #FightForPlanetA last night? Towards the end of the episode, Craig revealed how much the principal Kim Gould and Climate Council students at Oatlands Public School saved - by using our ClimateClever Schools App - and the result was off-the-charts amazing! The school implemented lots of initiatives, such as: ... - placing compost bins in each classroom; - installing new water tanks for garden irrigation; - turning off urns and reducing the number of fridges in the canteen; - using fewer lights and fans; and - powering off computers, lights and smartboards each day; And after four months, they generated savings of 31% off their greenhouse gas emissions. That's without spending any money; just by making behavioural changes! Concluding the series, Craig said: "Imagine how much more could be done if everyone paid their part!" So it is with great delight that we share our new ClimateClever Schools with you all. Thanks to our generous philanthropy partners, we are excited to welcome these new additions to our growing community: Macquarie Primary School (ACT) Reservoir Views Primary (VIC) Corinda State Primary School (QLD) Murray Bridge High School (Official) (SA) Cobargo Public School (NSW) Golden Grove High School (SA) Kallista Primary School (VIC) Killarney P-10 State School (QLD) Murputja Anangu School (SA) and East Victoria Park Primary School (WA) We still have a few prepaid Schools Apps left to give away, so please visit our website for details and to apply: www.climateclever.org
