25.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day and I want to check in and ask...how are you? How are you REALLY? We all know that life can be super tough sometimes and 2020 sure has hit us with a few curveballs (that is putting it mildly). I want to let you know that if you are struggling, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just downright miserable, I am here for you and I want to help in any way that I can. I have experienced anxiety (to the point of panic attacks) for the last two years and i...t really escalated this year, so I know first-hand how scary and overwhelming it can be to feel like everything is too hard to handle and nothing is going right. BUT, help is out there (right here if you like! ) and things WILL get better. So if you or someone you know and/or love is NOT okay, here are some resources that could help: R U OK Day Lifeline Beyond Blue Your local GP The Indigo Project, a psychology practice with amazing tools and tips Having a simple conversation with a mate and asking things like You don’t seem quite like yourself lately. How are you going? Listen to them and then encourage them to take action. After that, make sure you check in again So, are you okay? Let’s talk if you aren’t. Abby xx
24.01.2022 To kick off our birthday festival a couple of weeks ago, my Mama and I went to see Elizabeth Gilbert speak at a Business Chicks event in Brisbane (remember when we could go to events in real life?!). Elizabeth was, put simply, on stage. So full of warmth, wisdom and sage advice that we could not (and did not) tear our eyes away from her the entire time she was talking. [Okay, maybe once, but only to grab a pastry and sip coffee!] This is an excellent summary of he...r speech and her mission to start a . This seems particularly important right now as we all face such uncertain and unprecedented times. Let's face it, it's a little hairy and anxiety-inducing out there right now! How can we stay relaxed? Focus on our priorities, set boundaries and surrender to life and all its mysterious ways. Read on for more... Abby xx
24.01.2022 ' ? If I was to name the number one reason why I started The Clipboard Collective (or my main mission), it would be to . Of course, there’s other reasons, goals and aims that I have for my little business, but that is number one. Why? Because - simply put - life can be pretty empty without connection. There have been times in my life where I felt isolated, both physically and emotionally, and that is not a feeling I want anyone ...to have. I want to help people see that they are not alone, that support and encouragement is out there, and that there’s always light, even in seemingly never-ending darkness. So, when I really thought about what I wanted to do as a ‘grown-up’, it was to create events where people come together to learn, share and connect. That’s why Brené Brown's quote infinitely resonates with me while I continue to take (often scary) steps in my business because at the end of it all, I would be over-the-moon happy if even one person walks away from one of my events feeling positive and supported. As Robin S. Sharma also perfectly put it, The business of life is human connection! When do you feel most connected to the people and environment around you? Time with family? Doing spiritual practices? Feeling your feet in soft green grass? I’d love to know in the comments! To check out what’s next on The Clipboard Collective calendar, the launch of the Keeping Mum Event series, please head to this link https://events.humanitix.com/keeping-mum-events-the-launch xx
24.01.2022 Sorry I’ve been MIA but some kind of rude and inconvenient bug has infiltrated our house and I have been out for the count since the weekend. Ugh. Worst of all? Having to take time ‘off’ to let my body get better sends me into an absolute panic. My little business only has me at the helm, so all the things i have to do need to wait AND my house/errands/responsibilities (read: all those piles of laundry) have to fall by the wayside. ... So, when I saw this quote today it served as a perfect little reminder that it is OKAY to rest up and get well again. It’s OKAY to take a break when we need one. It would not be helpful to anybody if I carried on trying to keep up my frantic pace every day if that meant that my body could not recover properly. If I owe you a message or an email, I promise to get back to you as soon as possible! Fingers crossed this nasty little bug has read his eviction notice today. Remember: if you need to take an hour, a day or a week to relax and recharge, that is absolutely perfectly okay! Abby xx
22.01.2022 Hi lovely friends and followers! As I have recently become a qualified life coach (yay!), I have now rebranded The Clipboard Collective to be The Contentment Company. I decided to do this to combine my events business with my coaching business, as they set out to do exactly the same thing - help women connect, find joy, and rediscover their zest for life. So, if you enjoy following my little business on Facebook, please keep an eye out for an invitation to ‘like’ The C...ontentment Company soon. Of course, if you’d prefer not to follow, that is fine too and I really appreciate you being here with me up until now!! Can’t wait to share more with you and have you along for the journey over on the new page! Sending big hugs, as always. Abby xx
22.01.2022 Photobombed (and loving it)! Ahhh the absolute JOY of being able to travel again, even if it’s just within our beautiful state for now. A few weekends ago we stayed at the fabulous Ridgemill Estate and enjoyed sunsets, plenty of delicious vino, gourmet cheeses and a toasty fireplace. ... There was something quite magical about being able to ‘switch off’ and be amongst nature at its best ... but my absolute favourite part of the weekend was making friends with these larrikin goats - one of whom totally photobombed this serenely-set-up photo If you haven’t been to the Granite Belt to take a look, I DEFINITELY recommend it. We will be going back again for sure See more
18.01.2022 ... ... ! Holy heck, Batman. What a two weeks this has been for all of us. ... Here is what I have been reminding myself for the past couple of days in order to help my anxiety: . There’s so much going on and we are all wearing so many (too many!) hats, BUT piling pressure on ourselves is not helping us at all. So at the moment, instead of trying to get through 100 tasks, take care of the house AND home school my little guy, I am giving myself three goals (one of them definitely being practicing mindfulness whenever I get the chance). And you know what? If I can’t get them all done, that is OKAY. In fact, it is more than okay. And in turn, that has helped me appreciate the simple little things that are in my life right now. Things like: So much quality time with my little sidekick. Yes, some moments are challenging to say the least, but I am so grateful for the time we spend snuggling, giggling and chatting together. Getting outside, even if it’s just in our own yard, and really taking in that fresh air and sunshine! Taking in beautiful sunsets that I otherwise wouldn’t take a second to look at. Giving and receiving kindness to other humans (at a safe distance, of course). And though soaking up these beautiful things each day does not solve life’s big problems, it does make this time a bit easier to handle. I hope you are managing some moments of pure joy right now, no matter your situation. Sending lots of love your way. Abby xx
17.01.2022 Springtime is the right time for a shake-up! Like everyone on planet earth, I have had a pretty huge 2020. Just not in the way that I’d planned... like at. all. For me, it’s been a time of reflection, getting grounded and going back to the drawing board. Though there has definitely been a little bit of overwhelm, frustration and just your general What the actual shit is this, 2020?!-ness going on, I am now really excited to jump back into things with my little business ...now and connect with you again, beautiful humans. First on the agenda is a total overhaul of my business/brand. Why? Firstly, I am close to finishing up an A-MAZING life coaching course with Beautiful You and that has seriously completely changed my ideas, direction and perspective. So much so that I am going to be incorporating contentment and self-care coaching into my business. (More information on this will follow soon, I promise). Secondly, I want to hone in on connection, helpful content and bringing you closer to living your dream life even more! So... my little Clipboard Collective will be blossoming into The Contentment Cooperative very soon. I can’t wait to share more of this journey and new adventure with you! (Keep your eyes out for a new Facebook page if you’d like to stick with me ) Thank you for being here with me. Abby xx
17.01.2022 - How are you all out there? I hope this message finds you healthy and as happy as can be at this topsy-turvy time. There have been times over the past two weeks that my anxiety has been through the roof. It seems to sneak up on me all of a sudden too, which is obviously quite rude. The gravity of the situation we're faced with in terms of health is overwhelming, let alone the fact that the kiddos are at home, we can't go anywhere and there's no toilet pape...r at the shops. So I just wanted to pop my head in to share a few things I've been doing in an attempt to feel calm and in control just in case they help you too... 1. This morning I watched the super helpful video linked below. It gives clear and simple tips/ideas/advice on how to get through the COVID craziness and it's only around 5 minutes long. I will be trying to watch it every day! 2. I've been trying to find fun activities to do with my little four-year-old sidekick without putting too much pressure on myself! (Giving us a mile-long to-do list every day just gave me MORE anxiety!) We watch animal live-cams through Zoos Victoria and San Diego Zoo (one day this turned into a research and fact-sheet creation activity too - I know now a few things about Snow Leopards!); make paintings; sing songs; read books and nap together 3. I am trying to meditate every day at least once and find it instantly calming. I use the Stop, Breathe & Think app (there is also a kids' version that we use) and last night, I joined a live Zoom meditation with Cassandra from Wild Potential that was a-mazing. 4. I'm switching OFF a whole lot more. Do I really need to ingest every minute of the news? No. Do I need to be scrolling on my phone every chance I get? Nope! This helps me to focus on what is in front of me and what is really important - our 'nest' and the people in it. Have you got any creative (or sure-fire) anxiety-busting tips up your sleeve? I'd love to hear them! Sending you hugs, (from a distance of course!) Abby xx

15.01.2022 Anyone else need a little giggle today? Here’s some Friday funnies just for you! I’m not afraid to admit that a) this video made me snort with laughter and b) I’ve watched it five times. Enjoy!
12.01.2022 This is too beautiful not to share! Yep, I totally had a few little tears after reading this Everyone has different ways of parenting, but Mamas, when you listen to your heart and your gut instincts by giving your babies, big or small, unconditional love and support (and cuddles for good measure), you are doing the very best thing for them!! xx
12.01.2022 Love this article from Harvard Business Review but I think the points made are relevant for ALL parents because being a parent is in itself a (very special) job on its own. It is so incredibly important, but so incredibly challenging, to find the time and energy to take care of yourself sometimes. We all need a break for sanity purposes but sometimes it takes creativity to carve out that time. My favourite line? Your children want and need you to be joyful and connected wi...th yourself so that you can connect with them in a joyful way. Take a read below to get some inspiration!
11.01.2022 I had the best morning meeting Cassandra from Wild Potential and discussing an exciting upcoming collaboration (while sneaking in some yummy treats and trading life stories, of course) Sometimes you can meet the all-time best people when you are least expecting it! Cassandra is running a fabulous meditation program starting NEXT WEEK in Brisbane and I highly recommend you head over to her page, check out the info and send a message if you have any questions or are keen to s...ign up!! We could all use a little more 'zen' in our busy lives, right?! Keep an eye out for more news about our upcoming events (especially you, Mums of Brisbane) - we can't wait to share very soon. Have a lovely weekend, everyone! Abby xx
11.01.2022 Hello beautiful friends! How are you all out there? Sending you (socially distanced) hugs, Abby xx
10.01.2022 ' I may be a day late in posting, but #IWD was definitely on my mind all of yesterday, as I reflected on just how lucky I am to be surrounded by such powerhouse women - like my Mama, for starters. I have been blessed with badass female role models and a close-knit tribe of family and friends. I'm also continually blown away by the women I meet running their own businesses, creating beautiful families and doing their bit to make the world a better... place! Looking forward, I hope to raise my son to champion the women in his life. I hope that society ensures that women are willing and able to contribute their ideas, values and courage everywhere they go. I hope that women can live brightly and bravely. Happy International Women’s Day. Cheers to women everywhere! xx
07.01.2022 Collecting silver linings Have you noticed a silver lining or two from this upside-down time of isolation and social distancing? By far the biggest silver lining for me has been quality time with my little sidekick. This photo was taken during a sunset walk where this little guy was just so happy and giddy with excitement to be outside that you couldn’t help but catch his positivity. For this mama, who has been riddled with anxiety and tonnes of self-pressure t...hat I’m not doing enough, that is kind of a lesson I need to be taught right now! Don’t get me wrong, there are times when we are getting on each other’s nerves and I accidentally get a swift kick to the face as we embody Bluey and Bingo, but at the moment it’s a solid 92% / 8% split in favour of pure joy that we can be giggling together, playing silly games and enjoying some fancy morning tea with each other - moments that may have never happened without this stint of staying home. I hope you and your families are all safe and well and picking up a few of your own silver linings too. Have a happy weekend! Sending lots of love and big distant hugs, Abby xx See more
06.01.2022 How is 2020 still going 43 years later?! Has anyone else had jack of 2020? I am getting SO over it that I am just about ready to start a petition to ... the United Nations (?) that we all should not have to age another year because we’ve all had to endure everything that these past seven months have thrown at us. However, in the meantime I am trying to focus on gratitude and all the incredible things and people in my life while I wait for this sh*t-storm to pass ... So, may we all have the blind optimism that Donald Trump had in February when he (in all seriousness) predicted that COVID-19 would disappear like a miracle as we navigate these tricky times. If you didn’t laugh, you’d cry sometimes right?! Sending big hugs to all of you out there. I hope you get some joy and a couple of laughs this week. Abby xx
05.01.2022 Today I have had to make the heart-wrenching call to postpone the launch of Keeping Mum Events, which was scheduled for the 26th of March, due to the current Corona Virus situation we’re faced with. This was not an easy decision to come to because I hate to let down the amazing people who had registered to attend and the incredible businesses I’m working with and of course, a lot of hard work and passion goes into these events... but ... . This does NOT mean that we won’t celebrate our launch event sometime in the future (when we can come together, chat and celebrate at a closer distance than 1.5 metres!), so I will definitely announce the new details when they are confirmed and would still LOVE to see you there. In the meantime, I am working on creating some online Keeping Mum Events so that we can connect and learn together virtually, so watch this space. You can stay up-to-date with our news and events by signing up to our email newsletter (on our homepage www.theclipboardcollective.com) or by following our page here on Facebook! I hope that you and your families stay healthy and safe (and sane!) during this time. I’m sending love your way and can’t wait to see you all soon. Abby xx
05.01.2022 How are you all, lovely people?! I’m really hoping that you’re all healthy and safe right now! I’m popping my head in to let you know that I have just posted a new blog post that gives a little insight into the Keeping Mum event series that I’ve created (that will now take place online, so you can totally wear pyjamas and I will never judge) AND where I share a few links that might help you stay calm, take better care of yourself and maybe even make yo...u giggle a bit. The main thing I am reminding myself at the moment is to just when I am feeling overwhelmed or panicky (grocery shopping, anyone?! ) Want to have a read? Simply head to this link https://www.theclipboardcollective.com/blog/keepingmumevents. I have my little guy home from kindy at the moment, so will be online a little less while we attempt to actually learn something other than all the words to the new Bluey episodes! BUT I would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions about Keeping Mum Events [hint: the first one, happening in April, is all about mindfulness and I'll be joined by the wonderful Cassandra of Wild Potential] or just how YOU are staying calm/sane during this upside-down time. Sending lots of love your way! Abby xx
04.01.2022 This lucky little duck got to see Elizabeth Gilbert last Thursday and she was just as insightful and inspiring as I'd imagined (no, even MORE actually!). On the eve of the #IWD weekend, Elizabeth shared that her wish for the next revolution would be for women to be able to R-E-L-A-X. What a concept! Here's just a few of the awesome takeaways I wrote down from her workshop...... You need priorities, boundaries and mysticism in order to live without anxiety. You cannot be relaxed without knowing your own sacredness! We all need to surrender more - when the world has something for us to do, we'll be notified. Ultimately, we all want someone to just say "It's all going to be alright". Thank you Elizabeth and Business Chicks for this brilliant event and for donating all proceeds towards Australian Bushfire Relief

I am beyond excited to be starting a series created especially for Mamas because I know how hard it can be to find the time and space to look after yourself when you are so busy taking care of everyone else. ... Keeping Mum Events, hosted by The Clipboard Collective, will provide a calm and stress-free atmosphere where you can take a couple of hours looking after yourself, connect and chat with other like-minded mums and get some practical tips from incredible speakers. Join us at the FREE launch event on March 26th at Connect2Wellness to: * Find a little time for self-care, with the help of our amazing guest Cassandra from Wild Potential * Meet some lovely Mums * Enjoy some yummy bites * Have some great conversations * Be in the draw for our lucky door prize * Hear more about our upcoming events * Step out of the house and take care of YOU in a gorgeous, relaxing space!
