20.01.2022 Received a nice surprise in the mail today!

18.01.2022 PUBLIC NOTICE Dear Customers, Here at The Computer Guys we’re deeply concerned at the influx of victims as a result of phone and email scammers. They’re becoming increasingly sophisticated in their methods to gain access to both your personal information and your money. We urge you to stay informed and alert on the different tactics these malicious people will go to. Although nothing compares to remaining vigilant, there are ways to protect you...rself from these attacks. Do NOT respond to phone calls about your computer asking for remote access. If someone asks you for access to your computer, hang up immediately. Scammers will try to convince you there is something wrong with your computer such as viruses, issues with the NBN, as well as claim to be from Telstra and a range or other tactics. They can be very convincing with websites that seem legitimate, and very pushy in their approach. If you’re concerned about any of these issues contact your provider directly, they will not call you. Do NOT open suspicious emails, links or attachments, texts, pop-up windows. Delete them. If you’re unsure, verify the identity of the contact through an independent source such as a phone book or online search. Do not use the contact details provided in the message sent to you. Do NOT give out your passwords Do Not keep your passwords on your computer. In the event that you are scammed, this helps prevent the culprit from accessing incredibly sensitive information and access codes. If you’re concerned about forgetting consider a small note pad and write them down instead. No Legitimate company will ask you for Itunes cards or any other vouchers as a method of payment The scammer asks for this so that the transaction is no longer traceable, no authentic, reputable company would request such a method no matter what excuse they give. If you believe you have been scammed: -Alert your bank immediately! -Your computer is likely compromised, do not use it and seek to have it cleaned. This is a service we can provide. -Change all your passwords and pins to prevent the scammer having continued access to your information. Visit the ACCC website for more information https://www.scamwatch.gov.au
