23.01.2022 This breaks my heart. This cannot be happening. I don’t understand how this is even possible, that these detention centres are allowed to do this to people, to children? The trump administration is absolutely the worst thing that has happened to our country. ... As a mother I cannot even Imagine what these families are going through.

22.01.2022 The beauty of allowing. This is just divine #Repost @elysejamieson_birth BREAST CRAWL ... Regrann from @badassmotherbirther - . STOP! LET THAT BABY CRAWL . Your newborn comes with the ability to crawl to your breasts for it’s first feed. . This is called the Breast Crawl . Young humans, like other baby mammals, know how to find their mother’s breast. Breast Crawl is associated with a variety of sensory, central, motor and neuro-endocrine components, all directly or indirectly helping the baby to move and facilitate her survival in the new world. Babies prefer their mother's unwashed breast to her washed breast, soon after birth. Besides secreting milk and colostrum, the nipple and areola are dense in glands that secrete attractive odors. Breast odors from the mother exert a pheromone-like effect at the newborn's first attempt to locate the breast. Every newborn, right after birth, if placed on mothers abdomen, has the ability to crawl to mommas breasts when he/she is ready for its first feed. The movements start 12 to 44 minutes after birth. Spontaneous suckling happens at 27 to 71 minutes after birth. Smell, vision and taste all help the newborn to detect and find the breast. Auditory inputs and touch make her comfortable and help to create a suitable environment. Babies are attracted to black and white patterns, this is why your areola is hyperpigmented. Newborn's brain is optimally ready to integrate various sensory inputs and other components of the Breast Crawl soon after birth. If initiation is not attempted soon after birth, a vital period of alertness will be lost, the newborn will go off to sleep and the first breastfeed may be delayed for several hours. . How to facilitate the breastcrawl Use drugs for labour analgesia judiciously. Do not wash/wipe breast before feeding. Raise mother's head on a pillow to facilitate mother-baby visual contact. Do not move mother out of labour room until completion of the first breastfeed Do not dry the baby’s hands, this preserves the smell of amniotic fluid. The baby and the mother should be covered together with a cloth with skin to skin contact Delay routine care See more
22.01.2022 How do you practice me time? _ I personally have always enjoyed doing my hair and makeup. _ Maybe because I am an ex hairdresser. ... _ Maybe because looking after myself externally has been such an important part of how it makes me feel. _ After having my second baby the self care hair and makeup has most definitely taken a hit. And I have felt it. _ Confidence comes in many ways to us mummas and we all need to do different things to feel good. _ I have learned to ask for help and space and time when I need it. _ Consider this daily reminders for you to look after you, however that looks. by the amazing Kristy @adayinthelifeofyourfamily _ What do you need to feel good? 22.01.2022 This right here y’all _ Why do we wait until our tank is on capital E - EMPTY to create some time and space for ourselves? _ I am oh so guilty of this and recently lost my shit. Kicked my family out of the house so I could have a #mentalhealthmoment and let me tell you it was already too late. ... _ Why is it we only listen to this advice when it’s too late? Why is it we do EVERYTHING for everyone else and we are last? _ Fuck that! I am over that crap y’all. Let’s take a bold stand for filling our cups. Taking the time and space we need in order to be fully THERE for our kids, work, partners... LIFE. _ Also, might I add that self care can be you asking for help (someone take my damn kids!) or a long hot bath or take away food instead of you cooking or you catching up with a sista or just burning some Palo Santo while you make bananas and toast while you watch the fucking wiggles. _ So what do you do for yourself mama? 16.01.2022 PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF -DO YOUR RESEARCH, Your body was built for this _ #Repost @blissful.herbs I love how mothers and fathers, left to their own devices, just figure it out. Looks like things were unfolding so quickly they didn't have time to fill the pool. Great catch by Dad and he unwinds the nuchal cord using common sense. An option for the hands and knees position is pass baby forward between the mother's legs so she can pick up her baby (This Dad passed baby ar...ound, which was fine because the cord was long enough). . . . One reason that so many women end up in hospital is because of conditioning that has us believe that special skills are required to "deliver" a baby, and far too many women end up on their backs, upside down, pushing up-hill against gravity, legs in stirrups risking hip and perineal injury, with all hands and instruments in there causing mischief. This is so far from the best-practice hands-off approach, yet it is obstetric convention. And it causes generations of women to think that their bodies don't *give birth*, their babies must be *delivered* out of their bodies by expert hands. Yet in most cases, left alone, when mother has freedom of movement and position, mother and babe negotiate the process just fine. . . #Repost @badassmotherbirther (@get_repost). . WHAT A CATCH . 13.01.2022 One of the only family shots we have! The photo gods were with us here clearly _ My gorgeous hubby shared this with some beautiful words, go over and give him a follow if it resonates with you _ #Repost from The Fitness Monk... MY WHY / / Becoming a parent has been life changing. It’s hard, frustrating and exhausting. We tend to adopt the parenting style our own parents gave us - good or bad. It’s a daily choice to become better. Children are not given to us so we can help them grow, they are given to us to help US grow. While challenging, parenthood allows you to feel love on a whole other level. It’s hard to put into words the feeling I have for these two souls but it makes me want to be the best version of myself I can be.
