03.01.2022 Support local playwright Laurie Trott as a talented cast perform a play reading of 'To Kill A Cassowary at Con Theatre on Friday, November 15 starting at 7:00pm. Cassowary Coast Regional Council is supporting local playwright and journalist Laurie Trott through its Regional Arts Development Fund to showcase her original works and to provide a theatre experience to the Cassowary Coast community. ‘To Kill A Cassowary’, an original comedy direct from the heart of the Cassowary C...oast, is set for a reading with actors from some of Australia’s best-loved films and TV series at Innisfail’s Con Theatre on Friday, September 15. Mission Beach playwright Laurie Trott’s work tickles the funny bone as a father and daughter with very different ideas regarding inheritance and legacy battle it out for a piece of tropical paradise. Ms Trott said the play had been well received with a full-house reading at C4 (Community for Cassowary and Coastal Conservation) for the Mission Beach Community Cassowary Festival last month. A lot of people said they were sorry to have missed the reading at Mission Beach, so I am grateful to Council and the RADF committee for the opportunity to present ‘To Kill A Cassowary’ on stage at The Con on November 15, Ms Trott said. We have the same great cast Steven Tandy, Ingrid Mason, Tia Jolly and Peter Trott. People will remember Steven and Ingrid from The Sullivans and other films and shows. Ingrid, who played Rosamund in ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’, now lives on the Cassowary Coast. Local school teacher Tia Jolly plays the daughter and Peter Trott provides voices off. Tickets cost $15 and $10 for aged concession and students and are available from Cassowary Coast Regional Council Customer Service Centres in Innisfail and Tully or via link: www.trybooking.com/BGOBP. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cassowary Coast Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
