We couldnt do what we do at Fitted for Work to assist women in our community experiencing disadvantage to find and keep meaningful employment without our incredible team of dedicated and highly skilled volunteers. A special shout out to the amazing "Closeteers", who kept our Melbourne The Conscious Closet shop running so beautifully up until December last year (and will hopefully help it rise again in a new location in the not-so-distant future!). The first thing admin does every work day is check to see what beautiful preloved items have sold overnight, and is giddy with joy to be greeted with an inbox full of orders waiting to be lovingly wrapped and packed and sent off to their new home. A humongous THANK YOU to everyone who has supported not just us, but other small businesses over these last fews months. It is more important than ever to support your local shops and suppliers wherever possible and so many are coming up with incredible, innovative ways to adapt their businesses from "opshopping from home" to take away espresso martinis! ... If you are paying poverty wages to the women who make your clothes, then those women are going to be exploited, marginalised and bare the brunt of these kind of economic shocks that happen. I think weve all got a lot of work to do, when were looking at what sort of world we want to build, post COVID. Clare Press says, and we couldnt agree more.
