24.01.2022 Were stoked to announce that weve passed the 10 000 tree mark with our carbon solutions provider, Carbon Neutral With everything thats been going on over the last few months, it can be easy to forget that were still in a climate crisis, but unfortunately that is the case. At CTC, stewardship of the environment is one of our key values, so being able to offset the greenhouse gas emissions we produce is incredibly important to us and something were particularly proud of

23.01.2022 At CTC, our top priority is always keeping everyone safe With the new clusters of COVID popping up around Brisbane weve made some additions to our reception area. If you do happen to pop into the office, please remember to stay behind the line and if youre not feeling well, stay at home and get tested! P.S. Odette doesnt work Tuesdays, so our new Look Up and Live man was on duty today.

23.01.2022 Today on the podcast, we have Jan Manton, Director of Jan Manton Art. Jan and Phil go way back, so if youre interested quality banter and what a career in art actually looks like, follow the link below! http://ow.ly/D6yk50A7wjV

22.01.2022 Today we celebrated Giles and Richards (from WH&S More Skills) last day at CTC After joining us over 7 years ago in February 2013, the two have decided to sell the business and move on to a new challenge (after some well-deserved R&R on the golf course first, of course)! Giles and Richard have become an integral part of our community here at CTC and though were sad to see them go, we wish them all the best with their golfing and whatever future endeavours they may embark upon after that!

21.01.2022 A Manchester United supporter and a Liverpool supporter walk into a room...and record a podcast together! Todays guest is David Pich, who is the Chief Executive at the Institute of Managers & Leaders Australia & New Zealand. Catch it on the link below, or wherever you listen to your podcasts: http://ow.ly/3jli50ACxqU

21.01.2022 This is Camilo Camilo joined us in March as one of our rotational COVID cleaners, but hes actually a qualified ER doctor from Colombia. Hes also the guest on our next podcast episode! If youve ever wondered what its like working as head of an emergency unit in Medellin or finding yourself in a foreign country in the middle of a pandemic - then click the link below or tune in wherever you get your podcasts! http://ow.ly/R6Nw50AOKIm

21.01.2022 Talk about a glow up! Thats right, Story Flexible Workspaces is finally complete Located in the heart of our vibrant, safe and award-winning precinct, Story is the perfect option if youre in the market for a training room or work space. Give us a call today on 3216 6711 or email [email protected].

20.01.2022 Need training space? Need a boom lift? Need a coffee? At CTC, were purpose built for the building and construction industry We have everything you could need to conduct specialist industry training, all in one place. Call us today on (07) 3216 6711

19.01.2022 Cake has become a bit of a dangerous theme in the office lately...but Denis turned the big 50 yesterday, so it was a non-negotiable Hands up if you want to know his skincare regime, because it seems to be working a treat

19.01.2022 What a Thursday morning treat on the precinct today! If this whopper rainbow isnt a sign of something good to come, then what is? . . .... #rainbow #brisbane #local #construction

19.01.2022 Is the rollerdoor really big or is Denis really small? It's definitely the door Must be the overwhelming newness - we've just had all our rollerdoors doors replaced as part of our asset management system. In fact, the calibre of our system has recently qualified us to be ISO certified in both Asset and Facility Management - making us now a quintuple-certified (we had to google it) company, alongside our Quality, Safety and Environment accreditations. Those rollerdoors are looking extra shiny now

19.01.2022 September is the first month of Spring, but did you know its also Prostate Awareness Month? Prostate cancer kills more men than the total number of Australians who die from skin cancer each year...but the PSA test is just a simple blood sample (no more DRE (the finger) as the yellow man is kindly pointing out). If youre due for a test, let this be your reminder to go and get it done!

19.01.2022 Our latest podcast guest is none other than CEO of Sisters Inside and leading activist, Debbie Kilroy! We were super excited to have Debbie on, and she chats to Phil about everything from being a COVID long-hauler, to what she'd do if she was Prime Minister for a day. Listen now, on the link below or wherever you get your podcasts: http://ow.ly/VdPb50C9N32

18.01.2022 After 6 years of service, today was Lynns last day at CTC Lynn has taken one for the team with her 7:00am starts (especially throughout winter), and we know many of our facility hire customers will miss her friendly banter as they collect their keys and check in for the day. Lynn, we will miss your smiling face, constant supply of fruit snacks and your first class tourniqueting skills, and we wish you all the best in your retirement #retirement #farewell

17.01.2022 Last week was our 1 month anniversary for our daily PASO updates. These PASOs (Public Address Shout Out) have been our method of providing a precinct-wide COVID-19 update as the situation has progressed over time. Theyve also been our method of squeezing in a corona-friendly rave to our work days, as theyre always prefaced with a relevant song. Like any good DJ, weve been taking song requests from across precinct, and todays was Catch My Disease by Ben Lee. This is just... one example of the way CTC has responded to life in a global pandemic; to read about other measures, follow the link below: http://ow.ly/nM0a50zp7Nf #morale #construction #wfh #coronavirus #covid19 #morale #teambonding

17.01.2022 Today Jay was on Mission: Clean Out The Barn. Impressively, hes turned a disorderly cluster of old mowers, ladders and "things we may need someday" into a Grand Designs dream...were just waiting for Kevin McCloud to pop by with his film crew!

16.01.2022 Today on the show we have Adrian Shackleton, The Shack. He has recently returned from a solo backpacking holiday around Europe (rudely interrupted by COVID-19) and after his quarantining period, he popped in for a socially-distanced random conversation! Catch this episode wherever you get your pods or on the link: http://ow.ly/U1di50zIJ0x

16.01.2022 Were in the middle of a global pandemic and the worst recession since 1709, right after devastating months of bushfires and floods. Chances are, youre probably doing it a bit tough. But if youve still got a roof over your head, consider yourself lucky! Its Homelessness Week 2020, and at CTC were proud of the contributions were making to this soul-destroying (but often invisible) issue. Read more about it (and what you could be doing) here: http://ow.ly/njxx50AS6n2

15.01.2022 Just your regular CTC team meeting...nothing to see here Today we had a refresher lesson from Jay and Denis on how to use the generator. With our small team of 6 1/2, it's important for us all to know how to crank it on, just in case of sudden power outage (or zombie apocalypse) - it is 2020, after all!

15.01.2022 Mardi Gras move over, IDAHOBIT is coming through out! Sunday was International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia and aside from boasting the worlds longest acronym, this day highlights the prejudices faced by LGBTQ+. Its a moment to reflect on the culture that breeds these problems (particularly within the construction industry), and an opportunity to consider the ways we can help improve it. Read more here: http://ow.ly/TPje50zJYai

15.01.2022 Happy EKKA Holiday! We hope you have a great long weekend, whether youve taken this opportunity to get out of town, or if youre sussing out the closest drive-through strawberry sundae pop-up

13.01.2022 After 2 months of Zooming, its great to finally have Pam and Lynn back in the office! Its even better that our welcome back meeting involved not one, but THREE different cakes. What an excellent start to the week

11.01.2022 Denis and his latest masterpiece - the final paint touches to STORY. Building 3 never looked so good!

11.01.2022 Everyone get your gongs out, today is World Meditation Day! The last few months have testified the importance of strong mental health, and its undeniable that meditation is the God tier exercise to keep your mind happy. Although its often (unfairly) seen as synonymous with too much tie-dye and a lot of "oms", mindfulness is actually incredibly simple - and absolutely worth it! At CTC, we believe in it so much that all staff members receive free meditation training, a 10-minute meditation break without having to make up that time and we even have a designated meditation room! Phew, Im feeling zen just talking about it!

10.01.2022 Brisbanes iconic Story Bridge turns 80 today! This heritage-listed landmark is the longest cantilever bridge in Australia, described as a "structure and engineering feat" at 777m long, with 1.25 million rivets. The bridge was constructed by Australian engineering company, Evans Deakin & Co, in their Salisbury workshop located at this very site! In fact, the workshop still exists today - can you recognise it?

09.01.2022 May is National Stop the Bleed Month Did you know that someone who is severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as 5 minutes? Would you know how to save them? At CTC, our staff have undertaken a bleeding control training course, and are proficient in wound-packing, tourniquet-tying and taking pretend emergency situations perhaps a little too seriously (see the video below)...... Safety is always our number one priority, so these skills - alongside the bleeding control kits placed our around the precinct - are all ultimately helping us create a safer site.

08.01.2022 Yes, that is ANOTHER photo of cake in the CTC lunchroom, but ONLY because today is Odettes birthday Although she doesnt work Tuesdays, we werent going to let her get away without wearing the birthday hat (and we werent going to pass up an opportunity for birthday cake), so we had a celebration yesterday instead. Happy Birthday Odette, we hope you have a wonderful day celebrating at home!

07.01.2022 Graduating in your socks is somehow symbolic of this crazy year. Our Customer Liaison & Events Coordinator Hannah wasnt going to let the lack of an official graduation ceremony stop her from having a photo, resplendent in her own version of an academic gown and mortarboard. Congratulations Hannah - were very proud - Bachelor of Creative Industries - with distinction! . . . #COVID-19 #graduation

07.01.2022 Uh oh, looks like the birthday hat was called for duty once more Our Finance & Risk Manager and personal Leo Queen Carolyn had her birthday on Tuesday, but thanks to our HYBAH (Have Your Birthday At Home) policy, we had to celebrate on Friday instead. Carolyn doesnt look too upset at the prospect of TWO birthday cakes in a week...must be that fire sign energy

07.01.2022 Did you know CTC pays its workers a $700 Lifestyle Bonus each year? The rationale for this is to encourage workers to have work-life balance - to take holidays, study a foreign language, take the family to a theme park or if youre an adrenaline junkie like our Customer Liaison & Communications Officer Hannah jump out of a plane!! Hannah is clearly a dyed-in-the-wool thrill-seeker because she cant wait to do it again! In fact, she has aspirations to jump solo one day crazy

06.01.2022 May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month. At CTC (and also generally across the construction industry) there are multiple staff members who spend a large proportion of their day outdoors. Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time theyre 70, so it is incredibly important to make sure youre properly protected any time youre outside (sunny or not!)

05.01.2022 Have you downloaded the COVIDSAFE app yet? Here are some posters that have gone up around precinct, reminding people that the best way to save lives is also the easiest- download the app!!

04.01.2022 This week is Mens Health Week. Looking at the stats is scary, and its clear that men suffer disproportionately across almost all facets of health. The construction industry in particular has a large male population, so its time we all individually take a moment to become aware of the problems that resonate with us on a personal level, and find the courage to do something about it.

03.01.2022 When we say value-adding, this is what we mean. Whos up for a round of putt-putt in Story?

03.01.2022 In case, like a lot of people on site, youve forgotten what 1.5m looks like, weve created a handy resource for you A big thanks to our starring actors, the Look Up And Live Men (taking name suggestions) and Odette And please dont forget to keep your distance everyone!

02.01.2022 Like many people, Phil has had to cancel his big trip that was planned this year...and instead is taking four days leave to go adventuring in regional QLD Not quite the same as two months in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, but a good opportunity to see our own backyard! A break is just as (if not more) important when times are a rough, and 2020 is certainly off the Richter scale in that department

02.01.2022 This week we had the final, finishing touches on Story Flexible Workspaces, which is fitting considering Story Bridge celebrated its 80th Anniversary on Monday If youre interested in the story behind Story (pun intended ), read our blog about it here: http://ow.ly/HpTT50Aut00

01.01.2022 What's this? FIVE certifications? This week we replaced our BSI sticker outside reception to reflect the recent additions, and this is how excited we are about it Woohoo!

01.01.2022 The steps we go to to protect our resident curlews! Nesting in the middle of busy Central Drive with your newly hatched chicks is just plain reckless. Fortunately our maintenance team have wildlife caring included in their PD’s, & successfully wrangled the family to the safety of the courtyard. . . . #bushstonecurlew #brisbanewildlife #4107
