25.01.2022 As the seasons change, so does our menu......the zucchini’s are no longer available to us as regularly as we need so we have said farewell to our Spaghetti & Meatballs. We welcome our Brisket back to the menu especially with this cold weather. 6 hour slow cooked Organic Brisket served with Root Vegetables, Greens, Corn Bread & Maple Butter.... Definitely hits the spot. Eating with the seasons - there’s no better way.

21.01.2022 There was this one time I was listening to the radio and this famous Chef (I won’t name) was asked to give a piece of advice for ordering at restaurants....... His response was never to order a Special at restaurants because they’re always made with old ingredients. Here at The Cook Room this is absolutely not the case!!... In our kitchen, Specials motivate us to get creative. Sometimes it’s hard to change menu items because you have customers that order the same thing every night or have beef lasagne every Wednesday and you know they love it and you know they’d be sad if you took it away. So we keep a menu that gets modified with the seasons and we create different Specials based on availability of ingredients, requests and what grows in our Garden. Basil is growing wild = Pesto Pasta We constantly get requests for our Market Lasagne so we’ve made both for you to choose from. A Mushroom & A Vegan Lasagne Slow Cooked Meats for me are a must and unlike the chicken that’s selling out all over the place we are getting some beautiful Organic Beef from @shiraleeorganicmeats so we’ve made a bloody good Stew and that’s what’s pictured. Our Specials are awesome. They’re fun to try and they’re a good opportunity to try new things and discover things you don’t know you like

16.01.2022 Just a special/sad announcement that today is @mollyboyd_ last day with The Cook Room / @oramanly Molly has been with us for just over 4 years and has been such an amazing member of our team. She is now on to her next chapter moving up north and will be greatly missed. We will never forget your very detailed stories which are always told without breathing, and your puns...(oh your puns). Never have we experienced such an emotionally filled lassy who gets excited about the lit...tlest things, even when they don’t effect her. This excitement was always carried through to her friendly and energetic customer service skills that all our regulars know so well and adore. 14.01.2022 Time to almost farewell this beauty of a masterpiece.... This week is the last week the Broccoli is available. No longer on the menu but we wanted to give you a weeks notice so no one gets too sad so we will continue to Special it for the next 4 days.

14.01.2022 Today we’re working with Meat. Something I notice on social media is that the meat eaters will show interest in our vegan items (especially desserts) but vegans often write us rude stuff or unfollow. At The Cook Room we do our best to look after all the people. We’ve modified our menu many a times to make options for all and we think it’s important to be respectful of everyone’s choices.... If you don’t nourish yourself with animal products, that’s cool. As long as it’s what serves you and it’s not what someone else has told you is best. If you choose to eat animal products, we think it’s important to source the best possible ingredients and know that they were raised how they should be, lived outside, sun baked, ate food that is meant for their bodies. We’re lucky enough to get our beautiful ingredients from @shiraleeorganicmeats and @fullcirclefarm_ This here is an order for our Offal Jerky. Offal Meats are some of the most nutrient dense foods in the world and this is an easier way to eat them because they can be hard to work with. Hopefully we will be open again soon so that we can serve you our beautiful food on a plate @ The COOK ROOM

06.01.2022 Sooooo, a couple of weeks ago Ora launched her first ebook. For those that are unsure of what Ora is @oramanly She is our first baby. A beautiful space we had for 5 years on Whistler St.... After closing earlier this year, a lovely Lady @sazzcat approached us about creating an ebook and this is what we made. It includes snacks, tasty treats, breakfast options and dessert options, all on the sweet side. We do our best to look after all people, offering gluten free, dairy free, always refined sugar free and vegan options. Even The Cook Room Banoffee Pie recipe is featured We hope you enjoy

05.01.2022 So.....the other night I posted this glorious photo of our Broccoli dish and shortly after, received this message (swipe to next photo) I’m using this example because I don’t think there was any intention of being a ‘dick’ but this is what we deal with on a regular basis so wanted to share a break down so that in the future people might think before they write the comments they do. Firstly, we use organic broccoli. Most organic farms grow seasonally so the price changes... often. For example, 2 weeks ago, Broccoli was $85 a box. Last week it was $25. Do we increase the price when this happens? No. We just suck it up. Secondly, this dish includes four of the most expensive plant based ingredients we use. Organic coconut yoghurt Organic hazelnuts Organic currants Organic hemp seeds If anyone is familiar with organic herbs, you will know these are also pricey. We use four different herbs in our coconut yoghurt dressing that covers the entirety of that large plate. Then there are the obvious expenses. The chef that makes that dressing, that roasts those hazelnuts and chops them up. The fridge that holds the currants and broccoli . The olive oil, salt and pepper that goes onto the broccoli before it’s roasted in an oven that I won’t mention the cost of, but let’s just say it’s not from Aldi. We should also take into consideration the staff member that brought it to your table, cleared your plate, washes your plate and cutlery and cleaned up after you. I haven’t even gotten into rent and insurances because that stuff is boring. What really erks me is that people will go to a restaurant and pay $12 for four spring rolls that aren’t organic, that are deep fried in vegetable oil and contain a few pieces of cabbage and carrot and have the nutritional value of a square root of bugger all So please think about this before making comments about the prices we charge because everything that goes on your plate has a purpose, everything has been prepared to support your health, not damage it. We use the best possible ingredients and spend a lot of time preparing everything so that you feel fantastic eating it. @ The COOK ROOM See more

01.01.2022 So.....we were planning on sticking to take away and delivery for now but after so many requests to OPEN FOR DINE IN We have decided to give it a go. If you’ve visited before you know our space is small, even smaller now as we’ve had to make some serious adjustments to survive this hectic time.... Due to our current changes and the rules we must follow, our seating will be outside. This way people can be spaced out. You don’t have to listen to the phone ringing and you can enjoy outdoor dining - something no one was been able to do for some time. We will have three seatings. 5pm 6:30pm 8pm Please book to make sure you get a seat. Dress warm, there are heaters and blankets. We are still offering take away and delivery. Hopefully we can make this work. We look forward to seeing you soon.
