17.01.2022 So much creativity at our loose ends meetup this week. Loose Ends is a twice monthly meetup where our members bring their own projects to work on and have a chat. It was very cool today to see Luanne’s latest project - a macrame yoga bag. Lu-anne taught Renee macrame at one of our meetups earlier in the year. Now Renee is running our beginner’s workshop in macrame on 28th November. This is one of our favourite things about the Women’s shed - learning from each other If y...ou want to get started in macrame, there are just a few spots left for the beginners workshop on the 28th. Before you know it you will be dropping into Loose Ends with your next project :-) #coolumwomensshed #macrame #basketry #womensshed

11.01.2022 We are coming up to 2 years old in December! Like lots of 2 year olds we are really coming into a sense of who we are We are a place for women of all ages to meet and connect over shared interests. We are a ‘ space away from work and home life where women can relax and explore.... We are run by member volunteers and do not have paid employees. We understand that women often put their needs last and try to keep costs and time commitment low. We look at the shed as a space where you can do what YOU want - we see ourselves as a good place for beginners to start, and where others are happy to share their skills. We aren’t a community service- we are a social club for women with lots of interests. When people ask about us, I say that we are a shed, and we can do anything we want just like if you had a shed in your own garden. It could be a craft space, a photography studio, a meditation space, sports storage and yes a diy workshop The benefit of a women’s shed is that you commit to turn up- whether it’s 5 hours a week or 2 hours a month. And of course you find friends with similar interests As we look forward to 2020, this is our call out to women who want to see something in the community. If you want to start an activity at the shed, it can be at a frequency and time that suits you. As a member we can help you estimate costs involved and get the word out. Here are some dream sheds to inspire you https://www.countryliving.com//garden-/g1895/garden-sheds/

10.01.2022 Had to laugh this morning - 2 of our members had some of my dip and crackers earlier in the week (at my invitation!) Then this morning they both turned up with replacements for me It’s a perfect metaphor for the being one of our members - you get back more than you put in ;-) Thanks ladies! #beetrootdip #yestheresahashtagforbeetrootdip #coolumwomensshed

10.01.2022 Check out the latest addition to our family- any guesses what it is? It’s a tiny microphone transmitter that was purchased with money from the @sunshinecoastcouncil as part of their community grants program to enable community groups to manage the changes presented by COVID 19. During lockdown we started running our classes online as a way to keep connected and healthy, and we still continue to offer classes and hold meetings via zoom. The council grant went towards a mobile... phone, data plan, a speaker, our zoom subscribers and this little cutie from @rodemic . Thanks council!! You can try it out tonight at the online meditation with @simone_michelle_yoga and we will also be using the kit for our AGM on Saturday- COVID restrictions mean that we can’t fit all of our members in but if you want to attend ‘virtually’, just book an online spot :-) #onlineclasses #coolumwomensshed #zoomclasses
