21.01.2022 The Cottage Christmas Party was at ‘Pinot and Picasso’s brand new studio in Parramatta last night. SO MUCH fun!!! We all voted to paint an animal of course, so we booked the Boho the Elephant session. We have such a great team and was nice seeing them out of scrubs and having some fun. #pinotandpicassoparramatta #cottagefamily #noscrubs
19.01.2022 So we were honoured to be nominated for the 2020 Local Business Awards and guess what??? We won!!! We are so incredibly humbled and grateful, not just for the recognition, but for all of our amazing clients and their pets that have supported us through such an incredibly difficult year. We opened from nothing 8 years ago and have loved every minute of growing our fabulous veterinary family. Also a big thank you to the wonderful team at Monika’s Doggierescue. So ..... we dedicate this award to every single one of you! Thank you for your continued support and love #localbusinessawards
17.01.2022 HOT WEATHER ALERT Bureau of Meterology has predicted Sydney weather is going to be ROASTING for BOTH days this weekend. Heat stress and heat stroke are killers... While animals suffering from heat stress may have mild symptoms like panting and drinking more water, animals suffering from heat stroke become gravely ill and often die. All animals can suffer heat stroke. Some are particularly at risk: - flat faced dogs and cats- for example - Pugs, Boston Terriers, Bulldogs, Shih Tzu, Persians - Obesity - Long thick coats - Medical conditions especially heart and respiratory disease - the old and the very young - little pocket pets Signs of heat stroke include ,disorientation, panting, drooling, red or pale gums, vomiting or diarrhoea, muscle tremors, seizure, collapse So keep your pets in the cool indoors. Fresh cool water aplenty !! No walks unless very early or late Bunnies & Guinea Piggies need to come indoors too - they are SUPER susceptible to heat stroke. Don’t forget to put out some cool water for the wildlife ( pop a stick in it so bugs and lizards can get in and out ) And while you’re at it - check in on any elderly or vulnerable neighbours and take them an iced tea!! Stay safe everyone
17.01.2022 meet Bruce!! Bruce has been with us for many months after sustaining some terrible injuries and being rescued through Doggierescue. Bruce had nerve damage resulting in complete paralysis of his hindlimb. After three months of care and physio by our nurses unfortunately there was little improvement in his limb though huge improvements in his general health. Sadly we had to surgically remove his useless limb 2 weeks ago as it was causing him pain and pulling him off balance. He’s now a happy little three-legger and is ready to find a forever home. He is the sweetest smoochiest guy and if you are the lucky one to adopt him you’ll need to bring a crowbar to pry him away from our nurses who have become very attached to him and may just have trouble handing him over.
15.01.2022 this proud pretty girl decided to take a selfie of the epic moment she got to see one of her babies sucking it’s toe beans on ultrasound - #prettydelilah #toebeansforever

11.01.2022 So this week we opened our doors to humans for the first time since March. The waiting room looks a little different now as we have made changes to help ensure we can thoroughly sanitise multiple times daily. It’s important to us to prioritise the safety of those that come into our building as well as our staff . Due to the small size of our Hospital, we will continue to allow only one person per pet into the exam room with the vet. For those that prefer zero contact or drop off visits we will still offer this as an option ( we know the local cafes were very popular with many this year ) Thank you again as always for your understanding as we navigate our way through these difficult times

09.01.2022 COVID UPDATE: Dear Cottage Animal Hospital friends and family. Please join our team in keeping our community safe.... In light of the changing Covid environment we find ourselves in, from today our team will be moving back to zero contact consultations. Yes its the pits - we loved having you back in - but community safety must come first. SO.... this means we are still open and still able to see your pets for appointments, however entry to the practice for pet owners will be restricted unless it is an extenuating circumstance. Please rest assured your pet will still receive the most professional care, love & attention and extra treats and cuddles from our vet and nursing team. We ask: clients with cold or flu-like symptoms: High Temperature, Sore Throat, Cough, Shortness of breath or if anyone in the household is sick or awaiting COVID tests PLEASE STAY HOME & CALL TO DISCUSS your pets health matters please alert the reception team to your arrival and wait in the car or on the bench on our porch with your pet. remember to bring your mobile phone to be available to discuss history, diagnostics, treatment and ongoing plan. Together we can keep our community safe and ensure our team remains able to provide continuous service throughout this Covid-19 pandemic. From all the team at The Cottage Animal Hospital , we thank you for your understanding.
09.01.2022 how many PJs does your pet possess?
07.01.2022 TICKS KILL - they are dangerous and sneaky and they can be silent until it’s too late. Prevention with a proven product is a lifesaver. We’ve never heard anyone regret using a great tick product but plenty regret they didn’t. It’s looking like it’s going to be an extra bad season. And remember to always check your pets daily.
