23.01.2022 Walking Therapy - book your session today When we walk we often feel invigorated, happy and full of life. This is due to endorphins and serotonin being relea...sed into the body which impacts positively upon our mental health, creating a ‘natural high’. Walking within a natural setting is beneficial because sounds, scents and scenery help us to recall memories, thoughts and feelings in the present. Walking Therapy improves your mood, reduces stress and anxiety and builds self-esteem. So walking can help you to start the day feeling calmer and happier. Walking Therapy is an extremely effective intervention for depression, anxiety, work stress, addiction problems and anger management, encouraging mindfulness and creative thought. Enhanced creative thinking can enable us to develop new strategies in the way that we think, feel and behave and can help us to find solutions to life, relationship and work problems. Physical Walking Therapy helps decrease blood pressure, promotes weight loss and helps channel unwanted or negative feelings out of the body. This in turn can help decrease physical and emotional stress. The walking element of the therapy sessions can help lower cholesterol levels, increase metabolism and promote weight loss. 150 -200 calories can be burnt in a 50 minute Walking Therapy session and can help introduce regular exercise back into your busy life. Walking improves circulation throughout your body, carrying more oxygen and nutrients to your organs. This contributes towards clearer thinking, whilst at the same time lowering blood pressure and stress levels. Walking helps to boost your immune system, thereby reducing sick days off work. Spiritual We feel naturally drawn to being outside. As human beings, we have a deep connection with nature . It makes us feel relaxed, happy and free. Walking Therapy encourages clients to develop a more positive way of feeling and thinking which helps contribute towards a happier and more optimistic outlook. Walking outdoors, surrounded by nature, has been shown to dramatically improve our mood, our general outlook on life and our sense of well-being. This can help increase our feelings of inner peace and calmness which are strongly correlated with spirituality. When we feel spiritually connected to our environment, it provides a sense of support, belonging, relationship, understanding and perspective. Being able to connect with nature can provide each and every one of us with a consistent source of support and feeling of presence within our everyday lives. Besides the positive physical and stress-relieving benefits of exercise and fresh air, walking in nature allows us to connect with something much larger than ourselves. We can also take a quiet moment to create space in our lives and process our thoughts with a sense of compassion and inner-strength .

22.01.2022 A.D.H.D Take my hand and come with me, I want to teach you about ADHD. I need you to know, I want to explain,... I have a very different brain. Sights, sounds, and thoughts collide. What to do first? I can't decide. Please understand I'm not to blame, I just can't process things the same. Take my hand and walk with me, Let me show you about ADHD. I try to behave, I want to be good, But I sometimes forget to do as I should. Walk with me and wear my shoes, You'll see its not the way I'd choose. I do know what I'm supposed to do, But my brain is slow getting the message through. Take my hand and talk with me, I want to tell you about ADHD. I rarely think before I talk, I often run when I should walk. It's hard to get my school work done, My thoughts are outside having fun. I never know just where to start, I think with my feelings and see with my heart. Take my hand and stand by me, I need you to know about ADHD. It's hard to explain but I want you to know, I can't help letting my feelings show. Sometimes I'm angry, jealous, or sad. I feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and mad. I can't concentrate and I lose all my stuff. I try really hard but it's never enough. Take my hand and learn with me, We need to know more about ADHD. I worry a lot about getting things wrong, Everything I do takes twice as long. Everyday is exhausting for me... Looking through the fog of ADHD. I'm often so misunderstood, I would change in a heartbeat if I could. Take my hand and listen to me, I want to share a secret about ADHD. I want you to know there is more to me. I'm not defined by it, you see. I'm sensitive, kind and lots of fun. I'm blamed for things I haven't done. I'm the loyalist friend you'll ever know, I just need a chance to let it show. Take my hand and look at me, Just forget about the ADHD. I have real feelings just like you. The love in my heart is just as true. I may have a brain that can never rest, But please understand I'm trying my best. I want you to know, I need you to see, I'm more than the label, I am still me!!!! Author Unknown Copy and paste this as your status if u know someone with A.D.H.D or know the struggle yourself. When people tell you it's an excuse just read them this!

21.01.2022 Why, Why, Why! The most popular question I get from parents of teens and young adults on the spectrum is, Why does my son struggle so much in simple, real-life judgment and reasoning? Why can he know what he is supposed to do, but stumble so much while doing it? Another one is, We can preview what to do before he leaves, but he forgets to do it once there! Another popular question is, Why can’t he see the effects his behavior is having on others, and not see when he i...Continue reading

18.01.2022 I don't know where to start to tell you about this dude and what he's achieving in the poorest country in the world. Brendan Singhdeo is an Aussie social worker... who's been working with the poorest of the poor in Madagascar since he was 20. Five years ago he was one of only a few survivors of an horrific bus crash which left him with terrible injuries and a body full of metal. He soldiered on refusing to give up on the people who needed him in Madagascar. He's had malaria and every revolting illness under the sun living alongside the poor in Antananarivo and in the Malagasi countryside. I spent some time with him and his team this week and I was so impressed. Brendan oversees a school for the street kids where they have a good hearty breakfast, schooling and lots of love and acceptance. Brendan makes me proud to be Australian. He's selfless, funny, generous and incredibly hard working. He's a man of steel with a heart of gold. Brendan is pictured here with the son of one of his loyal staff members who is named after him! For more info on his work see http://CSM.org.au See more

16.01.2022 So, I have anxiety. I've always had it I think. There have been seasons that it's come in waves so strong and fast it knocked me off my feet. There has also bee...n seasons of unexplainable calm and peace. Sometimes anxiety feels like all my senses are turned up too high. Every noise is too loud. Every touch is too rough. Every light is too bright. Sometimes anxiety has made me silent and frozen. I feel trapped in a prison of my own fear, unable to cry out for help. Sometimes anxiety makes normal life feel overwhelming. Everything is too much. Cleaning the mess is too much, doing the laundry is too much, paying the bills is too much. Sometimes anxiety makes me unable to handle (read) the news or even have certain conversations with friends because if I do my mind will spin out of control. Sometimes anxiety causes me to feel physically ill, like headaches, stomach aches, and knots in my back and neck from stress. Sometimes anxiety feels like being completely alone in a room full of people. Sometimes anxiety causes panic attacks so strong I can't breath and I begin to sob uncontrollably wherever I'm at (even I'm in the grocery store). Sometimes anxiety makes me unable to sleep. Sometimes anxiety makes me on edge and impatient with my family. That's my least favorite symptom I think. You know what else having anxiety means? It means I will never judge someone in the middle of a battle with mental health. I will never wonder why she's not happy when she has so much to be thankful for. I will never wonder why my friend who is struggling isn't calling me back. I will never wonder why she is so scared about something that seems unreasonable. The thing is anxiety sucks. It really does. But the more we talk about it the more we'll realize we're not alone. Right now my seas are peaceful and calm, but sister, if you're in the middle of a big storm I'm holding space for you because I get it. Sisters with anxiety, we are with you. Love, Jess Follow @sisteriamwithyou for everything friendship and sisterhood.

03.01.2022 What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger! Really? Yet another trauma-avoidant survivalist cliché that is intended to keep you looking for the bright side when... you are down on the ground, bleeding from a knife wound. Sure, sure, sometimes, your traumas can make you stronger. Kind of like the way that heat hardens steel. And sometimes they can f*ck you up good, destroy your will to live, and debilitate your capacity to trust. When in the presence of someone who was almost killed by trauma, don’t remind them of their strength. Remind them of their tenderness. And invite them to be gentle with themselves as they endeavor to heal. See more
