24.01.2022 Not quite the 2020 we had planned! Unfortunately our sold out craft tours to Japan this year have come to a grinding holt and at this stage we will not be travelling in the foreseeable future. Stay healthy and safe everyone and we will be back here hopefully one day in the future! xx #thecraftysquirreltokyotour #thecraftysquirrelkyototour

24.01.2022 Hello! Konnichiwa! Heres Cheers or Kanpai as they say in Japan. I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to introduce myself (and my lovely Japanese tour guide Akiko). My name is Morgan otherwise known as the Crafty Squirrel! I love to get crafty (obviously!) and have been designing and making all manner of products for as long as I can remember and for my studio shop in Ballarat, Victoria for the last 8 years. About 4 years ago I decided to share my love of Japan (my favo...urite place to visit) with all of you. I first visited Japan about 20 years ago where I fell in love with the beautiful countryside, people, food and shopping! I have visited many times and have spent lots of time putting together a fabulous boutique craft tour which visits lots of my favourite places. Each tour we spend 8 nights/9 days with the wonderful Akiko by our side and together we make and craft special memories and friendships that stay with us long after we return home. In fact on many of my previous tours - participants have begun the journey on their own and come home with a lovely group of new friends! Bookings have now opened for my next tour which will take off from 22 to 30 April 2020. Id love for you to join us! Please get in touch for further details. I look forward to the opportunity to travel with you in the future. @ Tokyo, Japan See more

12.01.2022 And just like that #thecraftysquirreltokyotour has come to an end. Day 7 was spent fossicking at another flea market, wandering the picturesque town of Kawagoe, eating delicious food and saying our farewells at a fun party plan (all you can drink!) dinner. Thanks girls, loved travelling with you all! I think its safe to say we all know how to shop! xx @ Little Edo, Kawagoe

12.01.2022 Konnichiwa from Kyoto! Ive been here for a few days finalising the itinerary for my first Crafty Squirrel Kyoto tour in 2020. Ive had such a fantastic time meeting and having tea and wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) with Mayuka who also makes the most amazing miniature food plus Ive wandered through the hidden alleys and laneways finding all the special gems (including some girls dressed as Maiko (young Geishas). Kyoto you really are so beautiful! @ Kyoto, Japan

12.01.2022 We have a saying when on tour... Photo first, then eat! #thecraftysquirreltokyotour

11.01.2022 One of the fun workshops we do whilst on #thecraftysquirreltokyotour is to make an accordion style book called a "Goshuincho" from beautiful handmade paper. This special notebook is designed for collecting and receiving unique stamps and calligraphy from Japanese shrines and temples you visit. Each shrine or temple stamps their own unique red seal on one page and the monk completing your "goshuin" writes the name of the temple or shrine you have visited and the date. Such a lovely keepsake. We currently have one spot left on the next tour which departs on the 22 April 2020. Please let us know if you think it might have your name on it! @ Tokyo, Japan

11.01.2022 We love Japan and we know you will too! Join us on the next Crafty Squirrel Tokyo tour - 29 September to 7 October. Bookings now OPEN!

08.01.2022 If things had been different, I would have been jet setting off to Tokyo today with a wonderful group of women ready for a Crafty Squirrel adventure! But alas, we have been somewhat delayed for now. I thought Id mark the occasion by showing you some photos from the fab Japan Modernism exhibition at the NGV that I just had the chance to visit with my daughter Kitty before the gallery closed. I look forward to travelling to Japan again one day and hope that you will be able to join me. #thecraftysquirreltokyotour @ National Gallery of Victoria

08.01.2022 Very much looking forward to our next #thecraftysquirreltokyotour which departs on Sunday. Stay tuned for lots of photos of our crafty adventures!

08.01.2022 Day one of the last Crafty Squirrel Tokyo Tour and these lovely ladies went from not knowing each other at all when they met the day before at the airport to sharing lunch and a giggle at one of our favourite spots in Tokyo. Wed love for you to join us on the next tour in April 2020. Bookings now open!

06.01.2022 Im heading home to Melbourne tonight but I have to say - Japan, you really are my favourite travel destination. I will never tire of exploring your beautiful countryside and making friends with your wonderful people. To top off my trip this time I also got to see lots of #cherryblossom in the northern regions. What a special memory to take home.

06.01.2022 A snapshot of Day 2 on #thecraftysquirreltokyotour @ Tokyo, Japan

06.01.2022 Sunday afternoon feels at the Crafty Squirrel HQ as I finally get to unpack some new goodies from Japan. I first bought these beautiful Little House glass head sewing pins whilst in Tokyo at one of my favourite old school haberdashery stores in Shinjuku. Im pleased to now have them in store and online. Its always been the little things that make me happy. @ The Crafty Squirrel

05.01.2022 Day 3 on #thecraftysquirreltokyotour Another fabulous day! Lots of beautiful indigo blue handmade goodies, sashiko stitching, eating, shopping and plenty of laughing! @ Tokyo, Japan

05.01.2022 Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Part of our journey on the next #thecraftysquirreltokyotour is a visit to the lovely coastal seaside city of Kamakura south of Tokyo. The political centre of medieval Japan, modern day Kamakura is a prominent resort town with dozens of Buddhist Zen temples and Shinto shrines. Its most recognisable landmark and on our list to visit is the Kotoku-in Temples Great Buddha, a roughly 13m high bronze statue still standing after a 15th century tsunami. Of course we will also visit one of my all time favourite fabric shops and a super cute kokeshi doll shop!

04.01.2022 Remembering gorgeous things Ive seen whilst shopping on the Crafty Squirrel Tokyo tour. Wish Id been able to bring this one home!
