23.01.2022 COVID-19 testing in action. Sony, our nurse with her 2-way radio communicating with reception while waiting for her patient for COVID-19 testing. We are now listed on DHHS testing site map which has seen more traffic at our little driveway! Glad we can do our bit for the local community. Please spread the word if you know anyone who needs a test. We are conducting testing by appointment (no queues!) with no out-of-pocket cost. ... #covid19testing #community #localgp

22.01.2022 Two weeks of double donuts! Over the past few weeks many of our patients have expressed thanks to our team for their work during COVID-19. In turn we would like to thank our patients for their hard work in achieving these numbers. Thank you for getting COVID tested at our drive through, answering our screening questions and for choosing Telehealth where possible. Together you have kept fellow patients and our staff safe!

21.01.2022 Amongst our wellbeing series posts, we will be sharing snapshots of Our Space which many of you may not have seen yet. It is safe to visit our clinic with our strict COVIDsafe plan in place. We still encourage phone and video consults first where suitable to minimize time spent at the clinic. Thank you to @dmdcreate for these funky yet comfortable seats in our waiting room, which are sure to elevate the mood!

21.01.2022 Many of us continue to require rehabilitative care from allied health professionals for our health and wellbeing. Katrina Carter, our physiotherapist is still practising at the clinic with strict COVID precautions so it is safe to visit her. Under the Stage 4 Restrictions, patients will need to have a referral letter from their GP or Specialist to see an allied health professional. We can facilitate this through a bulkbilled phone consult with one of our GPs so please reach out if you need a referral. Book online at www.thecranegp.com.au or ring us at 90883258.

19.01.2022 We are three quarters of the way through Movember and the stashes are coming along nicely under Melbourne masks! Movember is in it’s 17th year of raising awareness of men’s health. By 2030 they aim to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%. Here at The Crane GP we are passionate about men’s health. We encourage our male patients to use movember as a reminder to book an annual check up.

15.01.2022 Many illnesses are potentially preventable if we can shift our mindset and practise a healthier way of living. Over the next few weeks, we will provide bite-size pieces of lifestyle advice to get you started. Today, let's talk about mindful eating. You've probably eaten something in the past few hours. And, like many of us, you may not recall everything you ate, let alone the sensation of eating it. Too often, while we eat, we are also doing something else. Because we're wor...king, driving, reading, watching television, or fiddling with an electronic device, we're not fully aware of what we're eating. And this mindless eatinga lack of awareness of the food we're consumingmay be contributing to the national obesity epidemic and other health issues. Mindful eating means being fully attentive to your foodas you buy, prepare, serve, and consume it.Mindful eating can help in identifying unhealthy behaviour patterns around food; for example, emotional eating, eating too much, or eating when you're not actually hungry and don't need to eat. It encourages us to slow down, savour the flavours of the food cooked and enjoy the experience. Here are a few tips to get you started: -Begin with your shopping list - consider the health value of foods before buying and avoid impulsive shopping. -Come to the table with an appetite, but not ravenously hungry. -Start with a small portion. -Bring all your senses to the meal -When you're cooking, serving, and eating your food, pay attention to the colour, texture, aroma, and even the sounds different foods make as you prepare them. As you chew your food, try identifying all the ingredients, especially seasonings. -Eat slowly - take small bites and chew thoroughly. -Eating and only eating. No screens. -Appreciate from farm to plate -think about the journey everything on your plate took to get there from where and how it grew, to the person who prepared it.
