25.01.2022 Are you a creature of habit? I live in Sydney but decided to stay in Manly and let go routine and allow my creative juices to flow. Heres a tip from my book - confessions of a recruiter!... Mix it up & split your job search by splitting your job search in 3 equal parts, you will remain focused and wont get bored. Say, one-third applying to online roles, another reaching out to potential employers or contacts via LinkedIn or company websites and the final third, networking. When your energy is spread out, the outside competition wont bother you. Youre becoming knowledgeable in your chosen career and acquiring new skills. This is a strategic way to job search and gets you closer to your dream role. What other strategies can you share? #mixitup #strategy #startwithwhy #thecspot #confidence #connection #confessionsofarecruiter #tripleCyouCareer
24.01.2022 It was great assisting at the Hilary Clinton event. It was interesting to get her insights and share her views. "I am not optimist but I am not pessimistic, I am hopeful." Hillary Clinton Good quote and great Q&A with Julia Gillard !
23.01.2022 To be a strong negotiator, the first person you need to impress is YOU! We negotiate every day, its how we do things and get things done. Life is a sequence of negotiations and even the most tedious of tasks are a negotiation. Something as simple as ordering a coffee is in fact a negotiation. So, if negotiation is part of our everyday living and were comfortable with that why do we struggle asking for that pay rise?...Continue reading
22.01.2022 Self awareness... sounds simple enough but are we practising it? Seeing @garyvee for the 3rd time now in Sydney was just as exciting as the first time - hes authentic and real and you always learn something new! He wasnt his normal hyper self - maybe he was jetlagged but regardless this suited the theme and Gary held the room in the palm of his hands.... We have the power to reverse engineer our lives but the problem is most people think of themselves and forget to give value." Umm @garyvee, harsh but true! "We are living in our best times". Right again Gary! Are we oblivious and missing the mark with self awareness? Or could we have mistaken this for self promotion? Self awareness is having a clear understanding of your personality, your beliefs, values and motivation. This also includes your weakness (not just your strengths). But more importantly, self awareness allows you to understand others. So I ask you to reflect (including myself), are you self aware? #garyvee #selfawareness #thecspot #clarity #connection #values #beliefs #reverseengineering #besttimes #value

If change is the only constant, then adaptability is the essential skillset to have. Adaptability gives you resilience and resilience is what we need right now with these challenging times. 2. Curiosity a natural curious mind helps you to break away from routine and boredom, and most importantly, curiosity helps you to collaborate and have stronger relationships. Studies also shows it can improve your life because you’re happier. 3. Be kind to yourself self care and being kind to yourself is more important than ever before. Having healthy boundaries is the ultimate way to being kind to yourself. We can get lost with social media and the news articles and it affects our mindset. It’s important to know what’s going on and to stay healthy but if we consume too much, it will take over our lives. Having the right people around you to stay positive is being kind to yourself. The world is changing and I need to change with it. What can you do now so that you continue to grow and come out of this pandemic stronger and more resilient. 17.01.2022 Id like to share something I learnt this morning. I walked into this workshop thinking I knew it all. Ive heard this before and I dont have time for this. Well, I was wrong... I quickly changed my attitude and decided to get curious. ... Why because ...Curiosity gets you into a state of appreciation, which in turn gets you feeling unstuck from whatever negative emotion youre feeling, including disappointing interviews or careers. Heres a tip from my book: Never stop learning even if your work environment isnt right, see it as a learning opportunity and learn from the experience, so you can focus on attracting a job thats culturally right for you. When you see failure as feedback, your mind will help you shift to appreciation and youll be able to grow from the experience. Why not incorporate a new learning on a daily basis? When you learn something new every day, even if its small, your work culture becomes more cohesive. Not only will you gain new knowledge, you will also grow as an individual. Learning is key to success in any organization; and companies that understand the importance of learning, gain mutual respect and trust. What are you curious about? Can you incorporate a new learning today? #curiosity #attitude #startwithwhy #thecspot #tripleCyourCareer #keeplearning #appreciation #neverstoplearning #unstuck #careers
16.01.2022 "Courage and fear are not mutually exclusive" - Brene Brown Seeing Brene Brown today for our founder Joanne Esposito was amazing. She was authentic in her approach, a hilarious storyteller and shared some home truths. She spoke about her book - Dare to Lead and yes we need more courageous leaders. But the thing is, were all leaders at any level as long as we can accept responsibility and step up and be accountable.... Leadership is not about having all the answers and knowing it all. In fact its about being curious. When we have clear values we will hustle less and if we cant be vulnerable, then well never get to courage. So be brave, have boundaries, show resilence and youll courageously lead! PS watch out Melbourne - shes on her way and loves her footy! #daretolead #courage #tripleCyourCareer #leadership #cultureiseverything #resilence #thecspot #connection #brenebrown #vulnerability #thegrowthfaculty
16.01.2022 Three tips that employers look for when hiring but may also come in handy in today's world especially at the moment. 1. Creativity. Creativity isn’t just about being great at art or design, music or the traditional sense of being creative, it’s about thinking outside the box, learning to pivot and coming up with solutions. We're seeing this skillset being met by our medical professionals right now.... 2. Collaboration. As human we’re social beings but if we can't meet face to face at the moment, let’s learn to collaborate by having our meetings on zoom, Skype, google hang out, or whatever method works for you. Italy has demonstrated this skill beautifully - yes the country has shut down and everyone's self isolating but seeing them sing out of their balconies is the ultimate form of collaboration. 3. Adaptability If change is the only constant, then adaptability is the essential skillset to have. It gives you the courage to become resilient and resilience is what we need right now with these challenging times. I hope this helps and If you any insights or tips to share, I’d love to hear your thoughts and please comment below and feel free to share this post. Thank you and have a great weekend! #covid19 #creativity #collaboration #adaptability #thecspot #resilence

06.01.2022 What is negativity bias? Did you know as human beings, we give more psychological weight to bad experiences over the good ones? This is called negativity bias and in fact, research shows a negative emotion impacts us 3 times stronger than a positive one... Our brains are designed to keep us safe. This is handy if we are in danger but sometimes fear stops us from moving forward in our lives (this includes our careers) and we can self-sabotage our results. Did you know that fear and excitement are the same thing to your brain? Instead of saving Im nervous (to interview or participate in a meeting), try reframing it to Im excited (to interview or contribute to this meeting) and trick your brain - it doesnt know the difference! So next time youre about to embark on something new and the nerves kick in... pause and be kind to youself and dont allow negativity bias to take over. Why not reframe it and trick your brain and say Im excited and watch your confidence grow! What do you think? Id love to hear your thoughts so please comment below. 03.01.2022 Its commonly said, dont judge a book by its cover but if this was completely true, then why would first impressions count? Yesterday morning a met up with a young guy who is doing great things in this world. Luckily, I had met him before. If this was my first meeting with him, I would have dismissed all his good qualities. He was nervous and nearly pulled my arm off shaking it. Ok yes, thats a slight exaggeration but you know where I am going with this. Roslyn Vecellio on ...the other hand (in this pic) had the right amount of strength which commanded my attention and I was able to see her strength and capabilities shine through. When we meet someone for the first time, we go through a process and decide if we like a person or not. We then determine if we can trust or respect this person. This is also true of what happens in a job interview. The interviewer assesses whether a person will be a good fit for the company and if they will be manageable or not. Interesting, most interviewers decide within the first few minutes, if not seconds of an interview, whether a person is suitable for a role. This is proving to be true with everything we do in life, not just interviews! Heres one tip from my book in the chapter Dont Sabotage your Interview. Not having a firm handshake research shows that a firm handshake helps to make a great first impression for an interview, or simply when youre meeting someone for the first time. Having worked as a recruiter for many years, Ive had lots of practice shaking hands, and although it feels natural now, it wasnt always the case. There is an art to it, and by practising a firm handshake, youll notice how your confidence and personality will shine. If your grip is a little too strong, and perhaps causing some pain, an interviewer may judge you as being aggressive, or perhaps even difficult to work with. Believe it or not, a weak handshake is worse than an overly aggressive one, as the person is perceived as insecure, fragile or lacking confidence. Its amazing how were judged so early in our interview, so make a good impression and practice having a firm handshake. #confidence #connection #confessionsofarecruiter #thecspot #triplecyoucareer
