18.01.2022 Hello all! We would like to take a moment to update you all in regards to COVID-19 and The Daily Bread. After much consideration and planning we have decided to continue running the soup kitchen but as a takeaway food service until advised further by the Australian Government and the Australian Department of Health. We will have some new systems in place for the safety of our volunteers, partners and our patrons. Please remember to be kind to all in this time and practice good hygiene. We’re all in this together and will do everything we can to help this current situation.

16.01.2022 We are so excited to be partnering with Natalie from Hair Aid who came and joyfully cut 10 of our lovely patrons hair this week ! We are grateful for her generous heart as she saw a need in the Nambour community and decided to lend a hand while she waited for her daughter to finish dancing lessons, how thoughtful! We can’t wait for her to be back on the 7th of December

16.01.2022 Thanks Sunny Street! Starting this Wednesday the 29th.

15.01.2022 There are many ways that you can support individuals experiencing homelessness and play a role in ending homelessness in our community. Below are some simple but effective ways to get you started; - Change your language from ‘homeless person’ to ‘person experiencing homelessness’. This puts the person first and focuses on a situation that a person is experiencing, removing homelessness as a stigmatized identity... - Make a point of saying ‘Hi’, smiling or having a conversation with someone who is experiencing homelessness. Often times, people who are experiencing homelessness are ignored; treated poorly and don’t feel like they belong in the community. Acknowledging and forming a connection, however small it may be, reminds us that this is a person with dignity and worth, and there is no reason that they are less than just because they are experiencing homelessness #HW2020 #homelessnessawareness #mycommunityismyhome full exhibition at C-Square in Nambour 10am until noon daily (except Sunday) from Tuesday, 2nd August to Thursday 13th Claire Reynolds

15.01.2022 Did you know that St Johns College Nambour have been cooking and serving at The Daily Bread for the last five years and now it’s embedded into their curriculum! Every month the students along with their hospitality teacher, plan, prepare, cook and then serve a three course meal to the patrons at The Daily Bread. It is such an amazing initiative and we are so proud to be part of it. #behindthescenesoftheDB

10.01.2022 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The Patchwork Angel in Forest Glen is the home of stitching and sewing enthusiasts! They run many different classes and groups, including their ‘Friendship Groups’ who donate into a piggy bank each time a member attends. The money raised from this piggy bank is then donated to a charity of the group’s choice and we are thrilled to have been chosen as the recipients of their very generous $500 donation . How cool is their heart and team work to love on the local community by doing something they love! Thank you all! You truly are angels .

06.01.2022 The theme for Homelessness Week 2020 is ‘Everybody Needs a Home’ which reflects on the importance of having a place to call home. Did you know the current national social housing shortfall is more than 433,000 properties? This chronic lack of social and affordable housing is forcing record levels of homelessness, while also making it incredibly difficult for people already experiencing homelessness to find a way out. Everybody needs a home, and everybody deserves one, addressing this injustice will help prevent thousands of people from experiencing homelessness in Australia.
