12.01.2022 To all of the Dance Works family.... Today we have sad news to tell,as Miss Margaret has sadly been called to be an angel. Miss Margaret was a Teacher, mentor, friend and much more to us all. She went over and above what most teachers do and that is why she has left her impression on us. Her dedication and love of her art was evident in all she did. Heaven has gained an angel that will brighten the place with song.... We are all sending her family love in this very sad time Margaret’s become an angel but she will always be in all our hearts forever RIP Miss Margaret Mikkelsen See more

10.01.2022 Miss Margaret’s funeral was held today and attended by many who loved her. There were many who couldn’t make it to the service but were with us in spirit. Here is the tribute from Cornelia Margaret Mikkelsen ... Today you are all here to celebrate the life of Margaret Mikkelson. Margaret came to work as the singing teacher at The Dance Works but then became one of my best friends who was always there to help me in all my ventures. The Dance Works family understands that Dance Works was not just a place in which we gathered to learn and showcase, it was also about the amazing interactions and opportunities that made it magical the experiences we had. If there was anyone who was truly ‘part of the furniture’ at Dance Works it was certainly Margaret. A performing arts studio is all about doing creative things with music and our music was Margaret. Margaret was not only an amazing teacher, she was a creator; a creator of entertainment and of opportunity and gosh there were so many opportunities spanning so many years. Margaret was selfless in all that she did at Dance Works, it was always about pushing for the best outcome for the kids, whether it was pushing the kids to do their best or pushing us to make things happen. Marg was at every rehearsal and every performance to make sure everything went smoothly and would expect nothing less than the best she had a knack for bringing out the best in everyone and making them feel like superstars she always managed to extract confidence out of the most shy or introverted person, that’s what made Marg unique; her ability to make kids shine. Even when students moved on into the big world she would always follow their success and be so proud of what they had achieved. All the students still say that without Margaret pushing them to be better they would not be the person they are today. While it is true that we would sometimes roll our eyes when the word ‘medley’ was muttered - to this day we crack a smile when we recall each and every one of those medleys. Marg was very much loved by everyone at DW and I speak for everyone when I say we are truly grateful to have had her in our lives. I know that from this day on when we gather and have conversations there will always be a fresh topic that we will remember with fondness, purple glitter, laughter and tears in gratitude for Marg. Margaret we farewell you today but your love and memories will be forever with us.
