24.01.2022 The Departure has been a bit quiet of late because there’s been a massive upheaval in my life over the last year that has been really hard to cope with but I’m heading back on track look out for a huge paste up b&w poster of me somewhere in Castlemaine for the Castlemaine State Festival taken by the fabulous #CathyRonalds @cathyronalds of @mapgroup fame, the image posted here (cropped) is an outtake with my trusty gorilla . . . . .... . . . #deathpositive #deathliteracy #deathart #deathie #castlemaine #goldfields #melbourne #centralvictoria #countrygothic #ruralgothic #australia See more

23.01.2022 Today we laid a stone on the continuing Dadirri spiral to remember Auntie Tanya Day, an Indigenous woman who died in custody in our community police station in December 2017 . . . Permission from Dja Dja Wurrung elders has been given to take small stones from our local landscape. The stones my daughter and I chose come from the base of my favourite old river red gum in our street. .... . . #auntytanyaday #dadirri #djadjawurrung #alwayswasalwayswillbe #publicoffering #memorialandgrief #deathpositive #deathliteracy #melbourne #castlemaine #goldfields #centralvictoria #australia @ Castlemaine Police Station See more

19.01.2022 Hello loyal followers as you may have noticed I have been M.I.A for a while. I’ve been talking a lot more about sex than death lately, which I find quiet amusing but it means I have been quiet on the Deathie front. There are a plethora of fantastic people, artists and orgs to follow and engage with in our world so please keep talking and advocating for death literacy and the death positive movement I am working from home with my library job, home schooling, vaguely being... creative, virtual dating and trying to isolate with a smidge of sanity. Stay safe, I’ll get back to you when I get back to you . . . . . . . #deathcareindustry #womenanddeath #contemporaryart #feminism #deathpositive #deathliteracy #deathart #deathie #melbourne #castlemaine #goldfields #melbourne #centralvictoria #countrygothic #ruralgothic #australia See more

11.01.2022 At Castlemaine Cemetery this morning we unveiled the new headstone for Fanny Finch, an amazing business woman and first female voter in Victoria during the Gold Rush, decades before women were officially allowed to vote We were joined by local band Friends of Wendy Cotton (performing a song they wrote about Fanny), local historian Kacey Sinclair, descendants of Fanny as well as Maree Edwards MP, member for Bendigo West and the Honorable Gabrielle Williams, Minister for Wome...n, Youth & Prevention of Violence (pictured). Their speeches made me proud to be part of something big in helping to honour such an amazing woman, and to also be true to myself and embrace not hide my ideas that are sometimes perceived by others to be radical #womenofcastlemaine #keeptrying . . . . . . . #deathcareindustry #womenanddeath #contemporaryart #feminism #deathpositive #deathliteracy #deathart #deathie #castlemainecemetery #cemeterywandering #castlemaine #goldfields #centralvictoria #countrygothic #ruralgothic #melbourne #australia See more

11.01.2022 Last week I had the privilege of running three workshops for the Castlemaine State Festival with high school students from Castlemaine Secondary College. We created our own collective memorial; an ephemeral Immortelle that now sits decaying under the lemon scented gums at @castlemaine.sc Thank you to the 140ish students who contributed to the work, you all made it a fantastic experience @castlemainefestival . . . . .... . . #csf2019 #castlemainefestival #deathandteenagers #highschoolworkshop #deathpositive #deathliteracy #deathart #deathie #castlemaine #goldfields #melbourne #centralvictoria #countrygothic #ruralgothic #australia @ Castlemaine Secondary College Blakeley Rd Campus See more

11.01.2022 Dying to Know Day is August 8, today! With events happening throughout August... My D2KDay event this year (Thursday 13th) is with the Goldfields Libraries on Zoom. I’ll be discussing death related books with locals Carmel Bird and Amanda Collins. I’ve chosen some crackers - ‘Dead People Suck’ by comedian Laurie Kilmartin and ‘Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?’ by Mortician and YouTuber Caitlin Doughty. ... The conversation will include discussions on end-of-life matters, death, funerals, dying, grief, decay... a little bit like a Death Cafe but focusing on literature! I’ll attempt to compile a list of books people suggest during the event. Book through Eventbrite - see you there! . . . . . . . #dyingtoknowday #d2kday2020 #librarieschangelives #deathcareindustry #womenanddeath #deathpositive #deathliteracy #deathbooks #deathart #deathie #melbourne #castlemaine #goldfields #centralvictoria #countrygothic #ruralgothic #australia
