Why Hospitality: There is nothing better than watching an empty plate come back into the kitchen after a hard day's work. I believe working in the hospitality industry is not only about just serving food, but also about making the customers happy. It is a great joy that I am part of creating this amazing experience for our customers. Outside of Work: I enjoy watching movies, building Lego, doing puzzles, drawing, and playing PlayStation. Why Hospitality: I have a graphic design and marketing background and have been working in a corporate environment for quite some time. I wanted to get into an industry where I could gain new skills and still incorporate my creative side and when the opportunity of working for NE Food came along, I thought it would be a great fit. It's still early days for me here but I've found that there's so much happening and the different aspects of my role keeps me interested and motivated at work, which is something I have missed by working in a corporate office...Oh, and did I mention that I LOVE food, it's just an added bonus that I get to work in a place that produces such delicious meals, can't wait to work my way through the menu! Outside of Work: I like to live a simple life outside of work and recharge the ole' batteries, so you'll usually find me in the kitchen cooking or walking my dog at the beach. I grew up in Sarina and always enjoyed coming back up north for short holidays. The region is just awesome, it's got a great mix of country and beach vibes and the people are just sooo much friendlier than in the city, such a great community feel. 09.01.2022 2021 is off to a flying start! As of Tuesday last week Tyro, our EFTPOS provider, started having nationwide connectivity issues (this is a majory the guys are having, I think their shares have dropped by 15% for those following this dilemma). Due to this fault we currently have minimal eftpos terminals available in our venues (not ideal when also going through COVID) however this has not yet dampened our spirits even if the rain is trying! ... The best part is that the issue is yet to be resolved with no timeline on when this will be rectified (we are hoping by early next week). We are assuredTyro is working around the clock to get this fixed, however, we are now onto the second week without full use of all our EFTPOS machines. We would like to thank you all for your patience during this time and we apologise if queues are a little longer than normal due to this. Again your continuedsupport and understanding is appreciated not only by us, but by many businesses in the Mackay region who rely on Tyro for their EFTPOS terminals.In Tyros defence (I think we would be the only ones in Australia that would say this currently) they usually have excellent service and minimal downtime so although this is not at all ideal and causing us and our customers some pain, let’s think of the people who are trying to fix this problem because I can assure you...our day is better than theirs Thanks Everyone... now let’s have a cocktail!!

From a local Mackay family, Madeleine grew up dancing and helping at her mother's dance school which has been operating in the Mackay region for the past 35 years. In her spare time you would find her on the family cattle farm with her two sisters helping her dad. Madeleine started her career early by gaining a business traineeship through senior school wi...th Flor-Hanly before moving her studies to CQUniversity, studying a Bachelor of Accounting. Working full time with Flor-Hanly for five years and then Launch Accounting, Madeleine has developed her professional and accounting skills in private practice with forward thinking and established mentors. Madeleine furthered her career when joining mining company, PIMS Group where she was exposed to a large scale mining business and so began her passion for company accounting. Now, Madeleine works as the Commercial Manager for NE Food which is home to THE DISPENSARY, Byrnes Pie Factory, Home Base Cafe and NE Food Catering. Madeleine works alongside Damien and Adrian Connors and the Senior Leadership Team where she focuses her time on providing the group with up to date financial guidance and advice. During her time with the company Madeleine has been involved in acquisitions, purchases and sales along with day to day operations of a company that employs 70 staff locally in the vibrant hospitality industry. At a strategic level, Madeleine is enjoying the challenge of being part of the NE Food executive team currently enrolled at the Australian Centre of Business Growth through UniSA. Madeleine is passionate about Mackay and the success of its business community along with seeing the city centre full of life again.

This year I am completing my final year of school, one of the subjects I am studying is a certificate in hospitality. Over the past year I have enjoyed this subject and I knew working at The Dispensary would be a great step into the industry. I love meeting and interacting with new people each day and this has really allowed me to build my confidence. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Outside of work I am always surrounded by my family or friends. In my spare time I love being outdoors adventuring, going camping and diving. I also have an interest in fitness, so keeping fit and healthy is a big interest of mine. Why Mackay? I moved to Mackay 8 years ago with my family from Noosa. In my time being here I have made so many amazing friends and memories. At this point I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
