25.01.2022 Hello mates, In 15 years of hospitality the Covid-19 situation is the biggest threat to my beloved industry I have ever witnessed. The potential closure of som...e of our favourite cafes, restaurants, bars and other small venues is very real. A lot of venues are reporting a down turn in customer attendance already, and sadly the overheads and rent don't slow down like the customers do. The hospitality industry is one of Australia's biggest employers and as we've seen in the recent few years an absolute monster when it comes to raising funds for disaster relief. This time, it's the hospitality industry that needs the help. You can help this potentially devastating decline by simply treating yourself. If you're healthy and able to, go and visit your local and order that extra side of bacon with your avo smash, grab a second coffee for takeaway, pick up a gift voucher for an Easter gift, or just round your bill up a couple dollars. All the little things count. I'm writing this because I feel a sense of obligation to the industry that I have made a living from to bring awareness to this threat, and to give a voice to the smaller vendors that don't have the platform to do so. Also on this note CREAM will no longer be accepting cash, using keep cups, or shaking hands/hugging regulars in the interest of public health and safety. So please, this week shop local. 20.01.2022 Good afternoon all! The doors will stay open at Do Duck Inn throughout this Pandemic with business as usual and we hope to see your smiley faces throughout. As said below unfortunately when customers are forced to stay inside, overheads and rent must still be met.... Its alarming to see how quick things can change within a matter of days.. We have all learned we are equal when it comes to global health and I hope this encourages unity throughout. Keep those small businesses local to you in mind and appreciate the efforts of those that must work throughout to meet ends meet. Please remember to shop local. As you are aware we have been restricted to take away only and have put some measures in place to ensure maximum safety and hygiene throughout this tough time.... This includes: No cash No keep cups Take away only hand sanitizer also provided on benches.
