21.01.2022 A rescue story (SOUND ON) This will probably be the most heartwarming video you’ll ever see, but there’s also a hidden side to this story... Anybody who knows me, knows how much I care about animals and their welfare, and how passionate I am about helping animals in need. But what most people wouldn’t know is that I suffer from chronic depression. This has been, and likely will be a lifelong struggle for me. I’ve never talked about my mental health publicly, but I feel it is...Continue reading

06.01.2022 8 healthy puppies came into the world last night!! Last Wednesday when I saw that there was a mumma dog in the pound who needed help, I knew I had to take her in. Mumma dog (now Tigger) was found hiding in some bushes, heavily pregnant, and was taken by rangers to the nearest vet. @sasrescue put a call out for a foster carer who could offer Tigger a safe place to give birth and raise her pups so that she would have to do so in the pound, so I immediately put my h...and up to help. If you’ll remember, last January (2019) I fostered another mumma dog from the pound, also through sasrescue, Carmen. Carmen has already given birth in the pound and needed to get out ASAP! So I took Carmen and her 5 babies in, and of the 5 pups, we adopted our Primrose So here we are again, 20 months down the track. It’s been the longest almost - week of my life waiting for Tigger to pop! At first we were told there were 3 pups, but then an x-ray and ultrasound at Collaroy Veterinary Services with Dr. Peter and team, revealed that there were not 3, but 8 babies inside Tigger’s tummy Finally last night, Tigger gave birth to 8 healthy pups, 6 boys and 2 girls. So far she’s been a great mum and they’re all feeding well A big thank you as well to the team at @savourlife who are sponsoring Tigger and her babies so that all of their needs are met. If you haven’t already, check out their range of dog food and treats! They’re a locally owned and made company, and 50% of all their profits go to rescue organisations! For now, Tigger is resting after what was a long night, and as for me? I’ll be watching over them like a hawk to make sure she doesn’t accidentally squash any These gorgeous babies will be up for adoption through @sasrescue when they are old enough, but for now they have a home here with us - - - - #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedismyfavouritebreed #staffy #staffygram #poundpuppy #pounddog #puppies #newbornpuppies #adoptdontshop #puppytraining #puppysocialisation #raisingpuppies #puppyculture #firstbreath #fosterdog #fostercarer #dogtraining #animaltrainer #norestforthewicked

05.01.2022 My favourite #floof Major Boof! Major Boof is a deaf 10 month old #australianshepherdpuppy who needs to wear his @rexspecsk9 to protect his eyes from getting sunburnt, and also to help him see in bright light, as his #starburstpupils make this difficult. Why is Major Boof deaf? Boof is a product of Merle on Merle breeding. By breeding a Merle coloured dog with another Merle coloured dog, 25% of the pups will get 2 copies of the Merle gene and are known as #doublemerle ... Double Merle dogs are often deaf, blind or both, as well as being prone to an array of cognitive disorders. Breeders do this because 75% of the pups will carry a single Merle gene, and these can be sold for more money, as Merle colouring is a desirable trait among buyers. What happens to the double Merle pups from these irresponsible breeders? Usually they are euthanised, or the lucky ones are surrendered to rescue groups such as @hear_no_evil_australia who specialise in rescuing deaf dogs. Boofer the #floofer was lucky to be surrendered to rescue and adopted out as a 3 month old pup by his gorgeous family, who also have a one eyed dog and a blind cat - - - #thedognose #deafdogsofinstagram #deafdogawarenessweek #deafdogsrock #dogtrainer #aussieshepherd #aussieshepherdsofinstagram #doublemerleaussie #deafpuppy #adoptdontshop #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedismyfavouritebreed

03.01.2022 And the cutest client of the day award goes to ... Miso the Golden Retriever puppy #certifiedfloofer Fun fact: whilst golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers share some common ancestry, the Labrador Retriever breed was developed in Canada whilst the Golden Retriever was developed in Scotland! So not quite as closely related as some might think! Both breeds do have webbed feet and a water proof coat, so are naturals in the water. Don’t be surprised if your lab or golden seeks out the wettest muddiest puddles at the park to lay in
