17.01.2022 YOUR BUSHFIRE PLAN We are all incredibly lucky to be living in such a beautiful part of the world, but with that comes the threat of bushfire. Grasslands to ou...r north, forest to our south and west, steep hills and gullies, narrow roads, one of the most fire prone climates in the world, and fire history (Ash Wednesday 1983) means we all should have a well thought out Bushfire Survival Plan. The CFA website has a wealth of information on Bushfire Planning https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan- prepare This is a great place to go for ideas and resources to get you started. Your planning needs to consider your specific situation; your property, house and buildings, business, garden, people, stock, pets, and special and essential items. It needs to factor in contingencies if things go wrong. We need to think of where and when we would go if there is a threat or a bad fire day forecasted, and - if planning to defend our properties - our own resources and capabilities, and how physically and mentally prepared we are to respond in an emergency. Get connected. Being socially connected and knowing your neighbours can assist your preparation for and recovery from a disaster. The Deans Marsh/Bambra/Pennyroyal area has a number of Community Fireguard Groups; neighbours getting together to support each other in Bushfire planning and enjoying a social get together along the way. If you are new to the area, this is a great way to tap into local knowledge and understand the local risk. Talk to your neighbours to find your local group or contact the brigade if you would like to start one. COVID - 19 and Bushfire Planning. This summer - if your Bushfire Plan is to leave early, consider what changes you may need to make due to COVID -19. Consider adding sanitiser & facemasks to your go bag/emergency kit. Think about your destination is it open or available? If you plan to stay family or friends, can you do it in a COVID safe way? If you are in quarantine or isolation due to coronavirus, you can leave you home if you are in an emergency or your home is unsafe. For more information https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/p/your-bushfire-safety-plan-and- covid-19 Always register your burn off - call 1800 668 511 and keep it safe and legal. You should register your bonfire/burn off any time of the year even winter and remember that during the Fire Danger Period (which is rapidly approaching) you will not be able to burn without a Fire Permit. By registering, you will avoid an unnecessary turn out by the brigade. Deans Marsh Brigade letter to Landholders - Summer 2020/21. This year’s Landholder letter is coming to a letter box near you very soon, along with donation form! Financial support from the community is much appreciated and has assisted the brigade to help protect our community and assets. Mandy Baker Brigade Community Safety Coordinator 0427 316 395.

01.01.2022 POINT GREY DEVELOPMENT REPORT The people that had lodged objections to aspects of the development will now be heard by the Surf Coast Shire on the 9th of June a...nd subject to that outcome we are hopeful,of a planning permit being issued. We as a club are financially ready to go but are unsure what issues there are with regards to the objections regarding the Beacon Building. We are perusing how to go about splitting the staging of the project by us going it alone. That would mean that the Beacon Building development would proceed as stage 2 at a later date. There will be parking matters to resolve with the authorities but we believe these can be done with close consultation with the Surf Coast Shire. If we can get our club house part of the project separately commenced then it would be a major works project to the local community. Ric Addison
