During lockdown we planned that our very next outing would be @thedonburihouse especially to sample from the vegan menu. We decided to share all entrees and mains and we enjoyed (pics L-R) dumplings, miso eggplant, tofu katsu, miso stewed mixed vegetables w/soba and grilled vegetables with teriyaki sauce don. Now, I’m not a dum...pling aficionado - I mean, I love them don’t get me wrong, but I’m no expert. But, these were hands down the tastiest I’ve had with such crispy bums. And it’s so great knowing that it’s all vegan with no question hanging over the dipping sauce . The katsu tofu has a great crumb and crunch, and the miso vegetables were a nice complement however the star of the evening was the grilled vegetable bowl. It may be partly because I am a rice lover but the delicious, tasty, salty, sticky teriyaki combined with the grilled-ness was just so damn good. And this will sound a bit silly, but you know when you get a veg dish and there’s usually one veg in there that you just don’t like? Not here! Thoroughly enjoyed. 10/5 stars . If you like Japanese then give Donburi a go.
