25.01.2022 When there is a light inside you, let it shine bright for all to see Meet our gorgeous Sophie who has been with us for 6 years. She has played a variety of roles in 5 end of year productions and her beautiful soul has shone in every single one. . It really is an incredible feeling to watch a young person grow and develop and knowing that we have helped provide the space to fully express her creativity and the ability to share her passion, we couldnt be more proud. .... Not only have weekly sessions here improved my reading comprehension and made me more comfortable in front of an audience, it has helped my mental health a lot and has given me long lasting friendships. @thedramaclubperth is an environment where everyone knows that someone cares about them and where nobody has to pretend to be anybody except their character, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys acting . We love you Sophie, thank you for letting us be a part of your journey

25.01.2022 We couldnt agree more Maggie, sometimes choosing a team based activity like Drama may not ever cross your mind. Until you give it a go, and its life changing for you little humans... We have seen it time and time again, children thriving once they join our groups, but sadly, Drama gets left on the list very often and whats worse is when it gets taken out of primary schools...

24.01.2022 From Shy to Shining Know that every shy or anxious child has inner strength - you just need to believe that moments of courage- continuous ongoing moments of courage - can lead to the most significant confident responses. I am so thrilled for this family... I might have to go and wipe my eyes now @thedramaclubperth @Intothemask #dramaclassesperth #perthkids #confidencethroughdrama

23.01.2022 I’m sorry... but I just have to come right out and say it. . This woman is an angel. She was sent down from the gods to inspire, uplift and work tirelessly for our creative youth. If you have been graced with the presence of this gorgeous woman and teacher , raise your hand in salute to her greatness! . Forever grateful to know you and work alongside you Hermione. #gratitudepost #ithadtobesaid #dramateacherperth #perthactors #thedramaclubperth

23.01.2022 What we all learned from Covid is that the fast paced life was not sustainable. This meant slowing down and choosing the things that actually mattered. This also meant choosing the after school activities for our kids. As parents we are constantly choosing the activities that help our kids navigate life, regulate emotions and teach them about communication that is NOT with a person on a screen. We believe our Drama Classes offer all those things including PLAY. We only ha...ve 4 places left in both our Monday and Thursday Kindy Confidence classes that run for a 5 week block. If you can commit to 5 weeks, please enrol right now so you dont miss out! We start next week Monday 24th and Thursday 27th. Link to enrol is www.intothemask.com/kindydrama See more

22.01.2022 Looks incredible!

21.01.2022 We have boarded the ship and all students are now sailing... we have 4 different scripts this year to cater to all the different ages and abilities. If you tried to enrol, sadly you are too late if your child is 9+. We are now in production mode. You can email us after Nov 29 when all is over. Saying that, if your child would like to help backstage or be a part of rehearsals and help as stage assistants, please get in contact.

20.01.2022 What’s the point of the end of year production? And why the end of year!? This really is the busiest time of year, but it usually takes an ENTIRE YEAR for children to gain the confidence and to form connections and trust with their peers. It’s not just coincidence that we call it an end of year performance. It is a good 30 -40 weeks of progress- building relationships, consistently experiencing small moments of courage, celebrating creative ideas, liberating fears and so muc...h more. So why wouldn’t we want to bottle all of that up and pour it out for an audience to feel proud about? For parents to shed tears of joy? Why would we rob you of that memorable and cherished moment? We wouldn’t. Spine tingling, eye flooding occasions that can be just as good as Xmas leave a comment if you agree! .

19.01.2022 Hang on his every word... he is one of the best

18.01.2022 This looks amazing!

18.01.2022 Finally, our last teacher to introduce you to, and certainly not least...Meet our gorgeous tutor Hermione! (yes like the character in Harry Potter!) Hermione has been with us for almost two years and she teaches our Hatchlings, Discovery, Advanced Performance and Graduate classes.... What is also amazing is that her wonderful son is part of our classes too...we love ya Saxon! Hermione Gehles passion for the theatre developed from a very early age and by 1994 was teaching after school drama for the Mosman Park Council, WA. At the end of 1999 she graduated from the Actors College of Theatre and Television and continued to work as an actor in Sydney and America on stage, television and film for the next ten years. In 2001 Hermione again taught drama, directing teenagers for Mad Cow Theatre Company and in the following year co-founded Newtown Actors Factory including directing, teaching and writing curriculum for the first year adult beginners course. Upon returning to WA, Hermione graduated from a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts in 2011 before embarking on a Masters by Research degree in Performing Arts, Directing Stream at WAAPA in 2012, completing with the highest grade achievable in March 2015. We love her so much and we honestly think she was the perfect addition to our little DC family!

17.01.2022 {Drama classes don’t make actors} ... truth Instead they enrich and build positive foundational human qualities- . HONESTY . INTEGRITY ... . COURAGE . SELF AWARENESS. . Investing in this subject for your children now will certainly pay dividends in the future. It’s not what they become that matters - it’s WHO. See more

17.01.2022 At the end of last year, we spoke about encouraging a Growth Mindset as part of our philosophy. I have been following the work of Big Life Journal for a while and this article popped in my inbox, and resonated with me. We strongly focus on the using processes to help build resilience, confidence, skills and a team based mindset. This article highlights some ways we as parents can encourage our childs progress and their goals, without them comparing to others. We have notice...d over the years that our classes can be a breeding ground for that competitive "comparing myself to others" mentality and we are working hard to change that. For our current members, we would love you to take a snap shot of your child now, and watch their progress. Maybe you can set a goal with them, and celebrate the small wins along the way. The way they showed courage in class for example. i.e speaking up in front of their peers, asking a questions about their role The way they showed how they improved their skills in class this week. i.e. I worked hard on using lots of movement in my scene today. or I really tried to project a little louder when asked. All these students have unique qualities to bring to our end of year production and no one is better than anyone else. We are a team and we as parents and teachers have to encourage all the wonderful things they are learning along the way- because lets face it, we dont know what the end result looks like yet either!

16.01.2022 {We grow with you} Hi! My names Taylor but all my friends call me Tay or Tay Tay. Ive been a student at Into the Mask for around 5 years now and started when I was around 8 years old. The drama club has always been like a second family to me, and inside the community there has been some amazing people that Ive met over these five years who have taught me everything I know about being confident and open minded. ... When I was younger, I struggled with anxiety that effected my confidence, self-esteem and who I was. When I first joined the drama club, I was pretty shy at first but was excited to try something new and after that, days became months, became years and I absolutely loved preforming. The drama club introduced me to a whole new world of confidence and helped me come out of my shell and my self-esteem climbed higher. Before, when I did speeches in class I was a bag of stutters but overtime I grew as a person and now, Im asked to do presentations I am able to do them with slight nerves on the inside confidence on the outside. Through the years, I faced a few hardships every now and then, but the drama club was always there to offer care and support. The drama club has inspired me that there is no limits when performing, and with that, and the skills I have been taught, I hope to also one day teach others the skills of confidence and how entertaining and preforming can help people become who they are.-- {we love you Tay, and we could not be more proud of you and how far you have come...not to mention how strong and brave a young lady youve grown into!}

16.01.2022 We only have 2 more weeks before our classes perform in the theatre!! 2020 has managed to bring delight and joy to our students their families already...so the performances are just the icing on the cake! How many proud mums and dads have there been over the years? ... Including this one... "The first time I saw my daughters performing on stage at their end of year productions was magical! How brave to stand in front of an audience, find a voice and shine! Into the Mask has been a part of our lives for the past three and a half years. Both my children love coming to drama classes where they feel valued and are nurtured and encouraged by caring, creative coaches. They have a lot of fun! The process of working on productions with a mentor and group of peers, has helped develop their creativity, imagination, resilience, self-confidence, social skills, and leadership skills. I love how everything always comes together for the end of year production where each member of the drama club has a chance to showcase what they have learnt, share their creativity, and shine their brightest!" Nicola (proud as punch mumma!)

12.01.2022 Be You. Because there is NO understudy. . Self confidence is like a ripple. When children feel capable in one area of their lives- it is likely to spread to other areas. . We also believe that when children are allowed to truly BE themselves, ... . when their ideas are acknowledged and come to life in real time, . when they feel heard and accepted . When they can observe others without comparing themselves, . when they have consistent opportunities to show courage . when they fee connected and safe>then surely, it will positively affect those opposing issues such as shyness, anxiety, lack of self - belief? . Right? . We have seen this time and time again, children thriving when there is the freedom to just BE. . We celebrate this every week and couldn’t be more proud of our happy Kinder kids finishing off the year. These classes will be back in 2021 and we can’t wait to celebrate these playful and curious beings. See more

09.01.2022 There is one question I get asked a lot that I just havent had the answer to. How on earth do you do it? Hello Im Alee and I am currently navigating parenthood while managing ITM. This is me hidden behind my little tribe, and most days Im juggling and trying not to let the balls drop! I thought I would take the time to introduce myself to our new members who probably know exactly the juggle Im talking about! I started this little business back in 2012- its actually m...y first baby! I am a performance artist, a qualified drama teacher and love nothing more than to help kids thrive! Around mid March last year when I discovered my whoopsy third baby, I actually almost gave the business up. I was convinced I wouldnt be able to do it all. But here we are. . With my three under 5, a fur baby, and hubby- managing people is clearly my superpower . I am very grateful to have a wonderful and passionate team who show up every single day to inspire your kids. Why would I ever have thought about giving that up? . So whats the answer to that question? how on earth do I do it!? Simple. I am a COMMITTER NOT A QUITTER. . Not even sleep deprivation and a pandemic has me giving up. . With enough passion and encouragement, committing is easy. So, while Im lurking in the shadows surviving motherhood right now, Im determined to provide the space for young people to discover their courage, explore their creativity and find strength through adversity just like the will power- to never give up. I look forward to bumping into you, or meeting you at one of our venues very soon if I havent already! Allison Read Photography See more

08.01.2022 Hi guys, I just want to say some things about IntotheMask Drama Club. I have been going there since I was 7 and I’m now 12. That’s a long time. I’ve learnt so many amazing skills from all the teachers that I’ve had, especially Kate, who has taught me for the last three years. I have been in lots of productions including Romeo and Juliet, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and the Grimm Games. I am also participating in this year’s performance of The Odyssey. One of the things t...hat I enjoy the most about drama is that everyone gets a go no matter how good you are. The productions are always fun and exciting as well as scary. You get to give your character your own personal touch and creativity. I have made tons of friends during my time here and look forward to making more. Thankyou to all the amazing people at IntotheMask. From Sascha WE GROW TOGETHER

04.01.2022 Let’s talk ICECREAM Ok, don’t run off to your freezer though ... You know that feeling when you’re standing in front of the icecream fridge at the gelato store, and you get overwhelmed with choice? So, you ask the person behind the counter to taste a few of the flavours. But, Not vanilla. {No ways} You know that’s... well boring. So, you try the unique flavours because let’s face it... it’s the thrill. And, you’ll only buy it if you know how it tastes? Right? {No re...grets} You want to be able to feel prepared for that flavour the whole double scoop! . Still with me? Well, it the same with our specialist workshops. You have to get the taste of what it’s like to feel under the pressure of choosing.. choosing what to say, how to say it, why to say it. Tasting what it’s like to stand out like that chocolate fudge and peanut butter- not hide in the background like vanilla. . Auditions can be nerve wracking, but not if you’re prepared. One thing about our classes is that they can prepare you for all types of situations. So say Bye bye vanilla and HELLO to Stepping into confidence! Double scoop of boysenberry swirl thanks! . Do you have a child that who wants to stand out in their next audition!? Get in touch! www.intothemask.com/specialist-workshops See more

02.01.2022 Play is proven to be one of the most essential components in a child’s cognitive and emotional development. Put simply? It’s how they learn to interact with the world. It’s how they connect with others, experiment and imagine, find boundaries and even regulate emotions. From communicating to sharing to building strong attachments, play is that wonderfully unstructured space where kids can just BE. ... But despite all that good stuff, a lot of our society isn’t set up for play. Instead, even young people can feel the pressures of rigid structure and a routine that leaves little room to explore. That’s why it’s so important to make sure our children have dedicated time to simply play. Because the biggest joy of being a kid? It’s the spaciousness! It’s seeing your child lose themselves in the moment, completely immersed in imagination. That’s the kind of energy that we are all about. Do you want to welcome more PLAY into your child’s life? Designed for 4-8 year olds, our KINDER (4-5) AND JUNIOR (6-8) Drama classes can be the perfect way to do it! Term 1 Begins Feb 1st and runs for 9 weeks Melville and Fremantle. Enrol now before you miss out! Find out more about our New 2021 Classes and Program via the link below. www.intothemask.com/classes
