18.01.2022 Today we had the pleasure of making 10yr old Max’s dreads right again . It was about a year since his last maintenance , and we discovered that his dreadlocks had been doubled (pretty much all over) and the sections were pulling in all the wrong directions. So we went to work and separated most of the dreadlocks and extended his tiny one with synthetic hair to make it look like the rest. Now he says his dreads are better than his dads

18.01.2022 Today I did Lotus’ long awaited dreadlocks , Covid19 got in the way and finally with restrictions lifting was able to come get them done . she couldn’t figure out if she wanted them in permanently so we decided temporary for now and depending on how much she loves them who knows what’s next . She loves lots of colours and wraps and jewels so that’s exactly what we did .

17.01.2022 Today I worked on Julia’s 6month old dreads . She had at least two blowouts on every dreadlock . The winner dread was 10blowouts (that’s gotta be a new record) was great making them straight and neat again an a little trim on a couple of the front dreads to make them look more like a long fringe . All in all very satisfying and Julia left with a smile on her face

14.01.2022 ... Cornrows were used to help slaves escape slavery? In the time of slavery in Colombia, hair braiding was used to relay messages. For example, to signal that they wanted to escape, women would braid a hairstyle called departes. It had thick, tight braids, braided closely to the scalp and was tied into buns on the top.... And another style had curved braids, tightly braided on their heads. The curved braids would represent the roads they would [use to] escape. In the braids, they also kept gold and hid seeds which, in the long run, helped them survive after they escaped. They would also use seeds as decoration in the hair, but would later plant the seeds and grow their own crop. It is more than just a simple hairstyle.

05.01.2022 Josh came today to get his free style dreads made into real dreads all over and a general clean up with maintenance , with some natural hair at the front that just wouldn’t free form made into dreads . i resectioned some odd shaped sections so they wouldn’t pull so much ,did some surgery on a couple Of dreads , and fused a few that were so tiny into a decent sized dread and section . He cleaned up really well and now wedding ready . So satisfying to see him love them so much

04.01.2022 Dread rot is caused by wet dreads staying wet and never being given a chance to completely dry out Many many people find it hard to have a shower without wetting the dreads, as dreads take three to four days to dry completely, this daily shower, keeps the dreads moist at all times creating a perfect breeding ground for mould and bacteria .... lower your shower nozzle or wrap your hair in a towel have your dreads out while drying when you do get them wet to allow air to cir...culate Often this problem can be fixed, with a good soak in an appropriate dread bomb, a triple wash and sitting under a dryer Photo thanks to Nazy Dada

01.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE Hi Everyone, With isolation restrictions being lifted , we have bookings in advance and have found ourselves working weekends a...nd public holidays, and charging accordingly. I book appointments to start between 10-11am , keeping in mind the amount of time each person needs and working your appointment into my day and around other clients. I keep in mind that I’m located a distance from most people and do allow a leeway of 1/2hr to 1hr. So please stick to appointment time as that is when your time starts. A non refundable deposit of $50 for myself and $70 if including my assistant if you do not make your appointment within 60min as well as having your appointment cancelled and deposit is kept for time and fuel as chances are it will go into and effect the next persons booking. Your paying time starts at the time it was made for. Unless you are on time and we chat dreads / extensions before hand. Then starting time will be adjusted to a later time. As to not charge you more than necessary. So please consider the wider implications of being late or not showing for your appointment. Peace and love Lucy and Annabelle

01.01.2022 Tristan was a champ , we shaved some dreads off so he could tattoo his head and extended down all his very whispy dreadlocks and thickened them up all the way to the ends with two different colours to make ombre dreads with rounded tips .
