25.01.2022 A teacher brought balloons to school and asked the children to blow them all up and then write their name on their balloon. They placed all the balloons in the hallway and the teacher mixed them from side to side. The teacher then gave the children 5 minutes to find their balloon with their name on it. The children ran up and down, looking and looking but as the 5 minutes passed none found their own balloon... Then the teacher told the children to take the balloon closest t...o them and give it to that child whose name was written on the balloon. In less than 2 minutes every child had their own balloon. 05.01.2022 Visual learning - addition I have been working with this young, amazing lady once a week for close to six months, as part of my Train My Brain sensory learning program. What makes this young lady so special is that she has autism. Since starting, she can now count fluently to 100, read 4-letter words, tell a story in sequence, and concentrate for 45 minutes of straight learning. ... All of which, was previously a challenge in her first 8 years of life. Over the past few weeks we have been learning how to add. We were using physical materials to do simple sums such as 3+4. Her next step is to learn how to add using her mind, and this one method that we have success in The aim is for her to visualise items in her head, and then count. A method of sensory learning using her visual sensory system.
