20.01.2022 Banka Banka outstation was such a cool little stop over between Barkly and Daley Waters . We were greeted with iceblocks for the kiddos which was a nice surprise and after setting up and taking it easy for the arvo we made our way over to the bar for drinks around the campfire and marshmallows for the rascals . 20.01.2022 Now closed . Berry springs and it’s crystal clear waters is a piece of paradise just outside of Darwin . We had no idea that this place was closing for the wet season the day after our visit and we feel soooo lucky that we got to enjoy and experience it ... Berry Springs closes each year due to high levels of bacteria in the water and while the area is closed they don’t do any crocodile management . 20.01.2022 Bitter Springs . This was our second visit to this gorgeous place and it was just as amazing as we remember from our last visit over 4 years ago. . We took our pool noodles and the kids floaty vests to make floating around the hot springs a bit easier and a little more relaxing with our three rascals haha ... . It certainly looks like the type of place that you shouldn’t be jumping into in the NT with crocs always on the mind around here. . 20.01.2022 So we got up close and personal with some big and small crocs at Darwins zoo of Australian reptiles CROCOSAURUS COVE . We fed some very active juvenile crocs, held a baby one named fluffy, met some big scary ones and watched them at feed time, checked out a whole bunch of other Australian reptiles and all in all was a pretty cool day out . 11.01.2022 Chasing waterfalls in Atherton . What a ripper of a day cruising the waterfall circuit and getting to cool off in these sweet swimming holes . We rocked up to Millaa Millaa Falls and definitely got a bit of a shock when we felt the freezing cold water, especially after being spoilt with so many hot springs over the past couple of months .... It took a while to go all in but once we did the swim out under the falls was definitely worth it. Zillie Falls was the next on the circuit but wasn’t somewhere you could swim. It had a viewing platform where you could enjoy the view and snap some pics. And we finished off the day at Elinjaa Falls which was pretty amazing and definitely our favourite of the falls. The kids loved climbing over all the rocks and playing in the shallow rock pools and it was a lot quieter than Millaa Millaa Falls which we liked . The day before we also checked out Malanda Falls. The water didn’t seem to be as clear as the other swimming holes and even though it is a natural waterfall it had more of a pool feel to it and is right in the town of Malanda.
09.01.2022 Edith Falls you are by far my favourite swimming hole so far Nic . The 2km return trek to the Upper pool was tough in the 40 degree heat, the flies were horrendous and the kids made it that much harder but it was totally worth it. . We jumped straight into the closest part of water to cool off and noticed that the falls were still a distance past more rocks.... Initially we thought we’d have to clamber over the rocks to get there but discovered that we could swim along these gorgeous channels and make our way to the falls which was pretty amazing and a lot easier with the kids . We finished off at the main pool which is a short walk from the main car park. It is totally different to the upper pool but still just as incredible. . The main pool is a huge swimming hole and the waterfall looks so small in comparison. Its a 150meter swim over to the waterfall in crystal clear water and the temperature is just perfect. See more
07.01.2022 Cullen Bay sunset, fish and chips and good company . It’s definitely worth packing a picnic rug, a few drinks and grabbing some fish and chips from La Beach to take in this sweet sunset . 05.01.2022 Cahills crossing is insane Watching the crocs behaviour change once high tide hit and the water comes rushing over the causeway is pretty cool The crocs come swimming down stream and popping up everywhere ... The most we counted all on the surface at one time was 48 and that was just the ones we could see Scary to think how many were lurking below the waters. Also the tide change in itself was awesome to watch. 04.01.2022 Karumba Sunset Tavern, where the outback meets the sea. . This place was awesome. The beer garden is right on the beach with its sweet sea breeze, amazing food and gorgeous sunset . It was great to be able to enjoy a beer and watch the kids down on the beach with their travel mates.... . When the sun goes down the hermit crabs come from everywhere. The kids had an absolute ball collecting them in their plastic cups and having crab races . 02.01.2022 We spent the past few days enjoying Dundee Beach . Definitely worth checking out if your into fishing or amazing sunsets . We were here 4 years ago and it’s totally changed since then.... The park has had some major renovations with a new boat ramp, cabins, shower block up grades and they are also in the process of building a new pub as well as some flash on suit sites .
