Here are some pictures of my young boys. 3 are stunning Partridge Pekin cockerel and 1 is a very inquisitive cross Pekin with a Belgium D'Uccle mum. All are super affectionate and friendly. It will be sad to see these boys moving out, but there is only room for one King and that is my Mr Pekin which I have added photos of so you can see just how regal they will grow into as he is their Father. Located Mullumbimby Northern NSW. Please message me if you are interested in giving one if these boys a loving home :)

21.01.2022 I love guinea fowls ! At 'The Fancy Chookhouse' we have 3 resident Guinea fowls which are the very sought after and rare Cinnamon colour with their unusual red eyes. Not only do they have the most stunning feather patterns, look very unusual and are very amusing to watch, they also have some very important uses, specific for acreage. These really beautiful birds actually are great foragers for ticks! They love to eat insects including ticks and are used efficiently on organi...c farms as a fuss free natural pesticide. They are also very effective as a snake deterrent as they are known to eat baby brown snakes and warn off bigger snakes by sounding their 'alarm system' (or high pitched call). They are very disease resilient and are an easy care asset to any property. They also live happily in large groups of mixed sexes so no need to cull the males. They happily roost in trees at night and will not require housing, but also can be trained, like mine to live contented with the chooks, comming to roost in the chook pen nightly. I have a lovely breeding pair who wander throughout the property making minimal noise and causing no destruction to gardens. I also have a hand reared young of theirs which thinks she is human, following us around the yard all day, loving cuddles and dust baths on our lap. If you are interested in including these fascinating creatures to your property, then adopting them as young chicks is highly recommended as they like to grow up on their home lands and will remain their for life if kept well. If you take them as an adult from a previous home, they will most likely fly away, trying to return 'home'. At 'The Fancy Chookhouse' we breed the cinnamon variety which are known as being the quieter and friendlier breed. My incubator is currently stocked with a few of these special fertile eggs and we have more to add, so I will be offering baby guinea keets for sale over the coming months. Please let me know if you are interested or need more information. See more

10.01.2022 Well after such an exciting week of gathering votes to win an awesome competition, we now have our prizes home! Here is the star of our prize, a handcrafted wooden vintage caravan coop perfect for our nursery to house our babies. Completely snake and rodent proof and utterly adorable. The original prize was for a pink caravan, but once I saw this raw wooden model parked beside the pink one, I was in love! The kids and I have given it a varnish with an environmentally frien...dly paint and parked it in the nursery. We still have plans to add some pretty embellishments to the caravan, but for now we are so happy with our prize and our babies love it too. Here is some pictures of room 1 (The nursery) at 'The Fancy Chookhouse' with 11 babies and their new abode :) Thank you Silkie Lane for an awesome prize. We are totally delighted :) See more

09.01.2022 Look at what we WON!!! Thank you to everyone who voted for us and for Silkie Lane for hosting this exciting competition! We are all so happy :)

07.01.2022 On Christmas Day we welcomed some new babies at 'The Fancy Chookhouse'. We have five new baby cinnamon guinea fowl keets, being lovingly incubated and now raised by 2 Mummies...our very clucky partridge wyndotte bantams. I have never had hens raise our guinea fowl keets, but so far they have hatched healthy and strong and have double the love to share :) Check out these pics and look at that cute little white fluffy bum being snuggled in between Mummies. Adorable!

03.01.2022 'Mother Hen' and her 7 little babies <3

01.01.2022 Our precious resident cinnamon guinea fowl we call 'Phew Phew' is coming into her first mating season, but as she was hand raised by us, alone, she has never had a 'flock' to be with and she has recently become very lonely and sad :( She stands at the front door, calling for us constantly if we are inside. The noise is driving us insane and her loneliness is breaking our hearts, So today we went on a long family drive to see a man about a guinea fowl...or 4, in an attempt to bring back some friends for our lonely 'Phew Phew'. Tonight we have 4 new cinnamon babies in the house to raise and eventually introduce to 'Phew Phew' and hope they create a bonded family of their own. No pictures tonight as they are all snug and warm under the jumper after a long trip to their new home, but hope I get some tommorrow.

01.01.2022 Christmas decorations have begun in 'The Fancy Chookhouse'. Look at this beautiful hand crafted feather wreath made by myself and the kids with twisted sandpaper fig branches and an array of special feathers gifted to us from our gorgeous chooks and guinea. fowls. Love creating with all the special gifts from nature.
