25.01.2022 Pictures don’t do this justice, but suffice it to say that farming requires ingenuity. Need to relocate a heavy loading ramp across a paddock when the tractor isn’t available? No problem- strap it onto a tiny trailer , pull it across with the gator, then use leverage to work it into position..

21.01.2022 First carpet python of the season found in the shed yesterday ! So- after moving him on with the poke of a broom , I implemented a bio- dynamic remedy I'd read about, and prepared earlier, feeling very silly as it sounded so mad. Google bio-dynamic peppering - it's entirely too odd to explain but the thought of having to deal with another battalion of hungry snakes this season forced me to embrace the inexplicable, and see what happens. Went in this morning, fully expecting to see I was minus a few birds, with a fat snake inside wondering how to get back out- but no, all good. Day 1- snake free - taking bets now on how long it will last...

11.01.2022 Gardening- farm style ..cleaning up a couple of waterholes , creating a small bird refuge in the middle , making some weirs to hold the water on our place as long as we can . We’re blessed with a number of springs, that seem to keep the water coming, but we can’t take what has gone before as evidence of what will happen into the future. Focusing on improving our hydrology, will help build the resilience of our farm. Luckily our downstream neighour has also read Peter Andrews’ book , and understands that slowing the flow of water here is a benefit to him and not a detriment.

11.01.2022 Well the cattle made it up here from Logan, so we thought we’d have a crack at the jacarandas as well. One looks like it might make it , the other not so much. Let’s see if some TLC can do the trick?

10.01.2022 Beginnings. Our newest project gets underway!

07.01.2022 No doubt that I have over planted these large container beds- but the results speak for themselves. Broccoli and tomatoes are coming on well, cabbage is just about ready, silverbeet has been on the menu for weeks now and someone else’s bees are producing honey courtesy of our broccoli flowers. There’s some other stuff down the bottom that may or may not fight it’s way through , but either way it’s a pretty productive couple of square metres.

05.01.2022 Proof that mandarines don’t require fancy treatment. This one clearly grew from a seed dropped by a bird- up the back paddock- so sweet and juicy!

02.01.2022 Sunday’s fun day! Visiting anesthetist dragooned into yard work- he’s given plenty of injections before but never to cows....
