02.01.2022 I wonder when more councils might start to "phase out" glyphosate use..? This article was written last year and still councils down in the Illawarra region @kiamacouncil Wollongong City Council(and many around Australia) continue to use Roundup. In many cases its used on the side of the road in rural areas "to stop weeds tearing up asphalt" as I was told by Kiama Council. Little thought goes into where it might run off to and what streams it flows into for our faming animals... to consume, and ultimately us.! We need to get behind this to STOP POISON being sprayed all around our community. It's a continued habit that needs to be broken. There are organic sprays that can be as effective, all our councils need to do is think outside the box and be progressive. In 2015 The World Health Organisation (WHO), classified glyphosate as ‘probably carcinogenic to humans’, while the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has concluded that glyphosate 'does not pose a carcinogenic risk to humans and that there are no grounds to place it under formal reconsideration'. I know what organisation I trust! Kiama Community
