25.01.2022 When you can't visit Vietnam you bring Vietnam to you! Pork belly Bahn Mi for lunch yesterday with ALL the trimmings. It was utterly delicious and kept us going for the rest of the day. We didn't end up finishing work until 7pm so these sangas were a good idea. 20.01.2022 Little Joey was the perfect supervisor in the shearing shed yesterday! He watched as we put ewes through the cradle for a crutch and a mani pedi. He may have eaten a good deal of toenails and sheep poo . He would play with the big dogs, growl at the sheep and then want to be put back in his bed for a nap! 17.01.2022 Yesterday was a biiggggg day. We photographed 106 sale rams in the yards for the upcoming ram sale. Some were cooperative and some weren't! I was lucky enough to have a girlfriend come and help us so to thank her I made these Portugese tarts. They are her favourites and she has had some bad news lately so I had to cheer her up! I think it worked . Food seems to make everybody happy.... This recipe is one that I've used before and it comes from one of my favourites Not Qui...te Nigella. I love following her and often read her latest post over my breaky. It's a great way to start the day. Anyway, photos are completed (close to 1400 ), I have loads of tasty treats on my bench and I now embark on classing 900 ewe hoggets . That's after I sort the photos, try to upload them using crappy internet and remember to keep an eye on the children. 12.01.2022 Thanks 2020, you've been an amazing year! Yesterday I underwent my third round of surgery for the year. I had a very bad arthritic toe that was bone on bone and it was getting to the point where I could barely walk! Yesterday I had day surgery to fix it. It took a little longer than they thought and I struggled to wake up, perhaps I was so exhausted I was loving the snooze . Home late and now have to have my foot elevated for three days and wear this hot piece of footwear f...or a couple of weeks. Luckily my mummy is coming to help! Mums back everything better. I'd better go find a bell . Thankfully Mr. Farmer was able to kill more time than expected and I totally appreciated the support when he walked in the room. And of course he drove home! 09.01.2022 These two year old girls will have a new home next week! The Yanco Agricultural High School have bought thirty merino ewes to use in their agricultural program and I am super thrilled about it. The girls will enjoy the attention they will get from the students and I'm looking forward to hearing how they perform. We are currently sorting all the mobs ready for joining in December which is right around the corner. They are in very good condition and averaging close to 70kg! It's quite ironic actually to celebrate the day after R U OK day as I originally started this fun after feeling like every day was groundhog day. I needed something just for me to make sure that my mental health was being looked after. 05.01.2022 Yesterday was spent weaning the rest of the 2020 lambs. We rose early to move 800 ewes and lambs from our other block to the farm. It was a 9km walk and luckily the kids were around to help. It seemed to be peak hour too which didn't help. Once we had drafted off the ewes from their lambs we then commenced weighing. The last couple of mobs were brought up to the yards and we ended up weighing 730 lambs for the day. Phew! After the last mob of lambs had been returned to their ...paddock we had a beer and watched the sun go down after watching the sun come up! Here are a series of shots taken within an hour. It was a good job done! Now to crutch them, vaccinate them and class the ewes before shearing. 04.01.2022 We did it! Toland Poll Merino 33rd Annual On Property Ram Sale was held exclusively online only yesterday. We have been spending two days a week for the last 5 weeks hosting clients here so they can view the rams before sale day. It has been incredibly beneficial to be able to spend that one on one time and we appreciate the effort they have made! We sold 89 out of 100, two more sold straight after, and received a top price twice of $7,800. It was a red hot sale that's for s...ure! The average was $2,456 which was above last years by about $167. Special mention to our SA clients who had to self isolate for two weeks after their visit here and thank you, they bought the top priced rams plus more for a lot of money! Just goes to show that quality genetics are well worth the effort . Now to get ready for shearing next week. 03.01.2022 Hello lemon ricotta cake! I had some fresh ricotta leftover from a dinner I cooked during the week and it needed using so I typed in "ricotta sweet recipes" and this bad boy came up. I had more than the recipe called for so I just added a little more milk. Lazy me iced it with the Philadelphia Lemon Icing, I may have licked the knife several times, and we had it still warm for afternoon tea yesterday. 02.01.2022 I had my first iced coffee frappe thingy when I was discharged from hospital last week when it was stinking hot! I had never had one before and this one came from a fast food chain that sells the best cheeseburgers after a big night . Mr Farmer knew how much I loved it so he bought a can of whipped cream , a bottle of chocolate sauce and blended this beauty up for me. All we are missing is the homemade vanilla icecream which I hope to make as soon as I am able! Using G...eorge for the coffee shot (my Nespresso machine lovingly nicknamed by a girlfriend) it tastes even better than a bought one. He even shaved dark chocolate on top!
