25.01.2022 OPEN MESSAGE TO THE PUBLIC SERVICE BUREAUCRATS WHO OPERATE AS THE TRANSITION COMMITTEE AND DICTATE TO THE SA GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC * What is the rationale in dictating a "wait" time of 36 hours in order to be able to re-open and return to "normal" life when you dictated a complete state shutdown with a lead time of only 11 hours. This is on the back of a highly flawed knee jerk decision to shutdown in the first place. So surely businesses should have been permitted to re-ope...n, and the public able to return to pre shutdown conditions, IMMEDIATELY ! The delay has resulted in businesses missing out on the busiest part of the week, being Friday & Saturday, with employees losing out of the extra work and income generated over these days. A classic case of the adverse impact of one abysmal, flawed knee jerk decision being compounded by another being made by a committee which appears to operate with "all care and no responsibility". We cannot recall any other democratic state, country or government in the world who has, or would, effectively abdicate their responsibility, as the Government ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE, to a group of public servants. The current position of control is even more concerning and ridiculous when taking into account that no member of parliament even sits on the Transition Committee. We strongly support the need to protect the health and well being of the Australian public and continue to adopt best practice in this regard. However, it is time for the Transition Committee to: 1. Widely consult with, and take notice of, industry and industry bodies in the decision process. 2. Hand back control of SA to the elected SA Government and act in the appropriate capacity as an adviser not a dictatorial decision maker.
