24.01.2022 Greetings All, 2 quick reminders, 1 It is not a student free day so our session is back on as normal this week. Dont forget to pre register either by emailing me on [email protected] or via our online store.... 2 Tomorrow is the QFA "not quite the Olympics" event at Yeronga. It will run from 9 until 10.30 and be a lot of fun.... I am entering now!! If you want to participate but need kit, the club will take care of it. Just drop me an email. Join in, have fun, be social!! https://www.qfa.org.au/events/72700/ I will however be lodging a protest with QFA that The Principality of Sea land is not one of the representative nations!

22.01.2022 Greetings All, The club pool leauge starts tonight. 7.15 arrival for a 7.30 fence.... The event will proceed for each weapon if there is a minimum pool of 4 participating. If there are sufficient numbers to do so weapons will be split by gender as well as level of skill. There will be a prize pool each week which will be tallied and awarded at the end of each month. We have been advised that a cash prize is an issue for our fencers who aspire to international representation so you canadvise during the month if you wish to be awarded in cash or in gift vouchers from local stores. The event will ahve a rolling handicap that will gradually increase and gradually decrease based on previous results. If a world champion turns up t play, the club reserves the right to add an immediate handicap!! Youcan enter online here Or by emailing me in advance at [email protected] Don't forget our normal covid rules apply, you must enter in advance and leave tracing details at the door. Should be a lot of fun. Juniors are welcome to participate in the senior event. Stay tuned as if there is sufficient interest we will run a junior league also. See you tonight. Should be fun. I am fencing. Any unlikely prize pool won by the coach will be donated to our end of year event. Cheers Paul

14.01.2022 Greetings All, After a tense few days I am pleased to announce that we have had word from the state association and we can resume for 2021 as planned...... with some minor alterations. This and next week we will be training on Tuesday and Thursday Nights ... Tuesday Juniors 6pm until 7.30pm Seniors 7.30pm until 9pm Thursday Seniors 7pm until 9pm Venues have once again gone back to limits of one person per 4m2 While our venue is large enough that the average night is not a problem, please register for the session in advance either by purchasing in the club store https://thefencingclub.square.site/shop/3 or emailing [email protected] in advance and paying on arrival. As usual all participants will be temperature checked and it will be require that you register for covid tracing We will now have a SafeVisit QR code to scan at the door if your phone is QR code functional. For those who are not, there will still be a list at the door. The most significant issue is the requirement to wear masks...no not fencing ones. At present it appears that you MUST wear one at all times when in the venue and not on the field of play. We will update you on this as more info comes in. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night ant turning lemons into lemonade!! Cheers Paul

14.01.2022 Greetingds All, As the school term starts, our regular club sessions resume and QFA has a couple of things on offer to finish out the year. 1. State Squads. Squad blocks have resumed making it more cost effective to get an extra traiing session in. While there are no looming National competitions for 2020, this is the ideal time to get back to preparation for next years events. Those of you who are potentially inteested to compete in next years u15, u17, u20 or Open events, I... strongly encourage you to consider adding squad training to your program. There is a focus on footwork and conditioning that is different to the open training sessions at club and will give you the tools needed to better plan your own training outside of your fencing sessions. You can register for QFA state squads here https://www.qfa.org.au/classes/ 2. This week end sees the start of a month long Epee fixture. Loads of fun this is a socially competitive round robin event. I will be there and fencing..... the club will have gear to support anyone who needs. Again if you want to start getting comp ready for next year, this is a great way to get the ball rolling. To register for the event go here https://www.qfa.org.au/events/73810/ See you on the weekend....or next wek at club. Cheers Paul
